The fact that he'd rather die speaks volumes about how exhausted he is.

This is what can happen when people are suddenly forced to become guardians, caregivers, sitters, etc. If 30 and 40 year olds become overwhelmed and resentful, imagine an 18 year old.

America is so backwards. 18 is deemed too young to buy a beer, or cigarettes, oh no you're far too young for that. But being made complete ly financially responsible and legal guardian for 2 children? Yep you're completely prepared to to deal with that, have fun.

I feel like a lot of people have no idea how bad the foster care system is. Every single one of my friends who went through the foster care system was HORRENDOUSLY abused. Things people have nightmares about. I feel bad for the brother. What he is going through is horrible and I feel for the character, but I also know that the siblings could very easily be put in a situation that will scar them for life. From kids kept in cages, to pimped out (one starting at age 3), starved, beaten...so much. I'm glad that many people don't understand because you can live in a happier bubble, but it doesn't change that fact that truly wicked people exist and they thrive in being part of the nightmare of our foster care system.

Yeah - the entire system makes money on the suffering of children.

Those are the worst case scenarios. Most cases, the kids wind up in halfway decent homes. I knew a kid who was in the system. He was never abused but he said that the people he was placed with were somewhat distant
On another note, there are plenty of cases where kids end up in great homes

@@cooperminion825 that's lucky. Literally every person I know who went through the system (that's about a 30 year span) has been abused. They are from different areas, genders, ages, ethnicities.

@@sadiemeyers6758 the worst case I remember seeing from my friend was when he talked about getting a spanking from his foster parents. He said it was bc he got caught shoplifting some candy bars from a convenience store (he was 14 at the time)

This reminds me of "Shameless" when Fiona wanted to become the legal guardian to her siblings. The judge took her aside and asked if that's what she wanted because the magnitude of it is overwhelming for anyone and they don't really understand it. Some just can't do it, but props to those who still do.

You know what I was thinking was that he doesn't really have to he can go to social services and explain to them that he can't care for his brother and sister because he's very sick at the moment and they will put them in foster care until he feels ready to do the job plenty of siblings do that they get to the point where they can no longer be the parent to their younger siblings because their parents are dead or whatever and they put them in foster care they just dump them it is probably better than the alternative.. there are social workers out there that will help him manage both his life and the life of his siblings they will help them get organized get their life together in short will help them with everything they need including financially he could have in some states and they do have this in some states he can get money for being a caretaker to his siblings... Again it depends on the state.

You got dealt a bad hand. No, a crappy hand. Toughen up. Take a breather, cry if you have you to, then get back in the game. You can have your life back when they're old enough to look after themselves. Which is way faster than you think. I got a nephew, last week he was 4, yesterday he was in college, tomorrow he'll probably want my advice on which zimmer-frames are the coolest.

House would have hated my kids because my kids kept to the rule which is you can lie to everybody else you just don't lie to me because the moment you lie to me I will never believe anything you have to say after that I will always have a deal that what you're saying to me is true so how will I ever believe you... It's only when my kids specifically one of my kids not to be 20 that he actually lied to me and then he found out I caught him in the lie and that I had a hard time believing anything he had to say after that I still have a hard time believing anything else to say because of it... Lie detector and were asked about the very fact that I just mentioned they would admit that they didn't lie until they were adults.
