the H cars are the same as the T1's, but the H cars have larger windows and narrower doors. the H5's are numbered in the 5700's and the H6's are numbered in the 5800-5900's.
That's the Scarborough RT. Runs from Kennedy station at the end of the Bloor-Danforth Line to McCowan station, using Mark I Intermediate Capacity rapid transit cars. This line is slated to be closed down for conversion to light rail sometime in the next year or two, if those plans are still in effect.
I have done quite a lot of subway railfanning at Victoria Park Station and I say for myself that in my opinion it is the BEST station of the Bloor-Danforth line to do subway filming.
He actually gave me a bit of a wave on his way out of the station. I actually got an okay from a TTC supervisor at Eglinton because it was for non-commercial reasons. But I think they put the word out that I was out there and knew what I was doing, because even a few police officers I encountered didn't even say anything.
also am interested in the train bleeps and bloops that they make too. Like," Biiing, baaang, boooong" means doors are opening. But what noise or warning is being heard @5:36 right before the doors close that goes 'boo-doo dooop dooop" right when the doors are about to close followed by the biiiing bannnng boooong?
Is it really $11 for an all day unlimited pass in Toronto's transit system? In my city we pay $1 for a single ride and $3 for an all day pass. Toronto's prices are INSANE.
For a city the size of Toronto, and even taking the exchange rate into account, $11 is not a bad deal (fares went up since my last trip when it was $10 or $10.50, I forget which). In my city, an all-day pass is currently $12, and can not be used on the suburban commuter trains prior to 9:30am on weekdays.
I guess it's not as bad as paying over $5 for a single ride in Oslo. Still though, I was shocked when I saw the price listed on their website. I don't remember it being that high when I last visited in the late 2000s. That's not a great deal in your city either. Here we pay just $3 for any transfer anywhere the system runs and it's good all day long. This is in a city with a metro population of about 1.1 million. Not huge, but still decent. I understand Toronto is one of the world's major cities. I just think public transportation shouldn't be so expensive.
Nope, that was totally random and I had no idea who they were. I just came up with the name after somebody I showed the vid before posting said to me "what are they door dancing there?"
The Line 2 shops at Greenwood have to undergo some heavy modifications to be able to handle the Rockets. Until then, the Rockets can't run on Line 2 since they can't be maintained at Greenwood. With the T1's now barred from Line 1 due to not having ATC, the current status of things is the way they will be for the foreseeable future.
@@trainman1971 well I know for a fact that the rocket trains can go on line 2 because a couple of summers ago they had to use some rocket trains on line 2 because some of the T1’s were having a/c problems so to compensate they temporarily put some of the rocket trains onto line 2 so if the rocket trains weren’t able to go on line 2 then they couldn’t go on line 2 even temporarily while they fixed the T1’s with faulty a/c units
@@trainman1971 I actually heard once I’m not sure if this is true or not but a while back when we first got the rocket trains they said that it might be possible that by 2025 line 2 could see the rocket trains again I’m not sure if that’s a fact or if that was just an estimate
I like how on the rocket trains they added those yellow hand straps to hold onto while standing because when the trains got crowded and near some of the doors there wasn’t much to hold onto before they installed them into the trains people were just trying to hold on to the ceiling of the train just to avoid falling I think those yellow hand straps should have been there from when we first got the rocket trains but at least they have them now and I also like how the put exterior speakers for the door chime on the rocket trains another feature I think should have been there from the start of the rocket trains even the old H5 trains had exterior speakers for the door chimes and so did the T1’s so I’m glad they corrected that on the rocket trains and also another good update they did to the rocket trains was the door announcement I like how they changed it from “stand clear of doors” to “stand clear of THE doors” and I like the new LED signs they added to both the rocket trains and the T1’s that say which direction the train is going and it even announces it to when the doors are open at a station even though sometimes on some trains it’s not working but that feature is still sort of new so I guess there are still some bugs to work out on that feature and I also like how they made the priority seats blue and the regular seats red
@@michaelsegal3558 There's nothing physically stopping them from running on Line 2, but they just aren't permanently assigned to it for the reasons I mentioned regarding Greenwood yard and maintenance facility. Emergency situations, of course, will always bring exceptions, but otherwise, we won't seen them actually assigned to Line 2 until the facilities can handle them. You can be 100% sure they deadheaded those Rocket sets to/from Wilson when they needed work, and that takes time and money to do.
ministeroffire1970 Ahhh, yes, the Rosedale Subway Door Dance. I have no idea why they would do that, but it was different. And the third guy looking back like "WTF was that??"
lol, and now i must ask you if you knew the people who staged this? Is this something that is done by the same guys everytime during a certain part of the day? What started the tradition? (just trying to find out more info on this myseterious dance)

Such a good city. Hopefully I can move there soon once I finish school.

Do you live in Toronto?
Do you live in Toronto?
@5:36, those tones are used preceding public address announcements to the station about service changes or delays.
5:36
That is one of the weirdest motor i had ever heard from the T1
Ahhh, thank you! I just saw this after I asked again on another comment.
Then I did get all car types on my video after all....

I agree. I liked Royal York too....

She walked right into my shot and I wasn't about to move, hahahaha!
Wait for Part 2.... I might have gotten one....
LOL and it is on this video with the train arriving at Rosedale at the 2:11 mark.

And the H5's... lol The new stuff is going to take getting used to.

2:33 Really?
Thanks! I try my best :)
Who else loves the departing/arriving noise at St.Patrick and Queens Park
In this video There are TR (Toronto Rockets) T1 STR And H6 cars in Toronto on July 9th 2012
I can practically smell the raildust...
I was just watching fox 5, and they said that MTA may use these cars soon.
I'm suprised you didn't get an H5 in the video
I was wondering that too! Maybe they simultaneously wanted to get away from somebody sitting near them lol
kool video!!!!!!!
This can’t be 8 years ago have we really had the rocket trains for that long already and they still haven’t made it to line 2?

Maybe their friend was in the other car.
Why would the two men @ 2:38 get off then back on different cars?
ministeroffire1970 Ahhh, yes, the Rosedale Subway Door Dance. I have no idea why they would do that, but it was different. And the third guy looking back like "WTF was that??"
