The Clancy Bros. recorded a much abbreviated version with different tune. When I first heard this song I'd never been within 3000 miles of these places, so in 1972 I had a good laugh when I found myself hitchhiking from Bandon to Conakilty. (I didnt ask the driver to stop in at Ballinascarty.) 😆
People Power! Sadly, those conditions of rack renting, tenants at the will of the Landlord etc are back in Ireland & elsewhere! There's a new, unscrupulous rump middle class exploiting misfortunate people unable to buy their own home and subject to the extortionist, capitalist economy. Remind me, just what was Ireland's fight for freedom & independence for?
