Sorry for the later upload this morning, just a busy morning calving again with some unplanned issues that come part and parcel with this job. Have a great Sunday
Adrian, those water heaters are a god send, in frosty weather, remove cold water feed from to save damage to heater intervals, leave hoses to hang down. At the end of your calving season, remove batteries, battery contacts corrode. Also you can still have a shower if the power goes 😅😅😅. All the best
My hot water tank at home quit, and I didn’t have the money to replace it. I installed a similar unit in my bathroom, and it’s been working like a dream ever since.
I've had problems getting gas bottle refills here in Bucks, due to all the patio heaters used for outside dinning in lockdown. Some places would only let you have a refill and not buy a bottle. People often have bottles they have no use for. Normally I see a number that our recycling centre ( tip). Good luck.
I like that hot water heater, I used to work for Calor Gas. Ideally you want to put in a couple of 47kg bottles side by side, that way your always going to have one spare and a constant supply; very useful in the winter. You can make your own bracket by fixing a piece of box steel to the wall and welding a couple of chains to it, then you can padlock the chains. Do it about 1/2 to 3/4 ways up, that way they won't fall over, if there is a local supplier they can always deliver as well. Good luck.👍
As an old firefighter I have one suggestion. Don‘t open the valve on the gasbottle the whole way. Just one or two turns is enough. That way you can close the valve very quickly in case of emergency!!
We use same thing, different make, to wash horses down after they get worked. Fantastic idea, currently I'm carrying buckets of water from the house to the dairy, mixing in milk replacer, thain carrying the buckets up to the calf pens. I was thinking of getting a electric water heater. But that's a great idea to look into. Why didn't I think of it 🤦
I would still use a 125mm flexible aluminum duct to take the flue gases outside of the building despite it being labelled as "outdoor". Put an isolation valve before the hot tap feed and use that to control the flow so the tap can be used an on/off without resetting every time. Also after turning off water leave the spray gun in open position and hanging below the boiler allowing heating element to empty and prevent frost damage. As always another great improvement and work smarter not harder investment 👍
Great video Adrian I always think you should make a small trolleys that you could easily pull around with your hand tools and power tools when you are doing all these small jobs around the yard
Am just in the house a few minutes after spending 15 hours in the calving shed and I lifted the iPad straight away it catch up with things on your end. That gas heater looks a good job. You must have broke the ram on the hitch because I seen the tank on your 5460 on a picture. Keep up the good work lad.
I love your channel and your humour. A little tip for your water heater is put a pressure relief valve if your water pressure is too high this is a much better option as anyone can turn your tap which could cause a problem and then you have to look for that "sweet spot" again, plus turn your tap does not rejoice your water pressure
Crackin vid sir... youll be having a shower outside before you get into the house now..😅.. can i recommend a hot pressure washer hose for that washdown .. you can get them made up at a hydraulics place.. . Love the thoughts you put into all your work and keeping your girls happy to help out.. 😮😅.. stay safe 🏴
re the gas bottle, drill a hole in the wall, feed the gas tube through and leave the bottle on the other side of the wall (depending on what is on the other side). Buy a back-up gas bottle ' tis better to be looking at it than for it ' I heard a wise man once say!!
I have no doubt . . . you have a great problem solver brain. An uncle of mine kept the 11kg gas bottle of gas on a weighing scales. That's how he knew; when it was getting lighter, gas was running low. (not in a farm environment though!) You get the gist . . @@IFarmWeFarm
Brilliant! I have long wanted an instant hot water heater for the greenhouse. I'm glad you found one small enough for your purpose! I agree, get that tank up off the ground.
We all do silly things Adrian hopefully it will be able to be fixed, come with having to many things going round the head at one time, great video very enjoyable, good luck to you and all the family
It'll be good to have that gas water heater when the power goes out again, and super handy to have it close by at any time. Good job with the installation!
I absolutely love watching your channel & sheep school videos because I always learn something from you not that I could do half of what you guys do 😂 thank you 😊
Busy days!! Always a good feeling when calving season is done and they're on pasture. We start next month. Adrian, you are an inspiration!! Great place you have there! Thanks for sharing. Dave.
The thing i like about your videos is your ability to tackle everything yourself, nothing seems to faze you. Must be very inspiring for a young person to watch as my young boys are glued here. Great natural humour too which is the real bonus. I would look for a pressure reduction valve for the inlet feed on that heater, also be sure to drain it before any frost. Keep up the good work bio
Seeing people mention having the gas bottle outside and the pipe fed through the wall and installing a flue, I would seriously also install a Carbon Monoxide/gas leak detector to be on the safe side.
Nice video Adrian, expensive mistakes are what we hate most eh! Another one to put down to experience. Thanks for sharing the hot water tank. I'll tell the wife as we have horses and use the shower in their washroom for hot water. Ill get brownie points for that. Hope the calf is OK. Keep your chin up
Hi Adrian, fantastic and interesting video, only problem now, my husband wants a water heater in his Garage 😮😅. Beautiful Calf's, well done, you must be cream Crackerd. Feet up and a Coffee ☕️,well deserved 👏
Fantastic video/info Adrian 👍🏆 Wood replaced ✔️ Night shift Maternity ✔️ Calf's fed✔️ Calf's tagged and tested ✔️ New gas heater installed ✔️ and your apologizing to us for being late 🥺🤗 I hope by now Adrian you've got your 👣up ☕ and ready for a wee 💤❤
Them water heaters are a great job we have one on the farm saves some amount of time from carrying over hot buckets of water from the house to the calves.
Great video Adrian. You taught me about bvd. We didn't worry about that in the 70s and 80s when I was growing up in the US.hope your issue with the slurry tank or tractor can be fixed. Always easier on the wallet to fix it. Have a great week. Hoping for many heifer calves.
Adrian, what about cutting saving and drawing home tuff from the bog do you do that. Also do you grow vegetables on your farm or keep chicken's for egg's. Would be nice to see these things in your vlogs.
Have noticed that you use a lot of brass pipe fitting. Is there a reason for that over plastic pipe fitting. You may already have done it off camera but install a carbon monoxide alarm in the calf shed. Great work & videos as always! 👍
That.great idea i.use something something similar to.heat apartments dose heat and hot water dose it heat.calf shed too.ya daughter happy outthat good idea have in shed
Just been watching brilliant as per usual looking at away of freeing up your second caving pen could you put a loft above your little alley way from carving pen to your slatted shed you can lift bales of straw up with loader and throw it back down when you want to bed up 👍🏻
Hi Adrian, I bought the same heater off country farm supplies however I couldn’t find a gas cylinder that fit the gas regulator and I’m wondering how you got it to work
Brilliant video Adrian can you tell me where you got the water pipe for the hot water I only have yellow pipe and water is too hot and pipe collapses thanks
Happened our water mains well worked of electricity if our town electricity out no water no shower etc... I was thinking getting big stainless tank system and booster pump... our dairy farm and workshop and house run on 165kva generator
All depends, some cows have a dry cow tube rather than just a sealer. So have to be carefully on the withdrawal dates with the tubes. Otherwise most Co.opps suggest 3 days if no withdrawal products were used
I always hold the sample end in the upright position after tagging and then place on the tube over it to seal in the sample, to prevent losing it. I was hoping when Adrian mentioned tagging that he was going to apply NGP samples tags too. First time with NGP tags here will be in March.
Sorry for the later upload this morning, just a busy morning calving again with some unplanned issues that come part and parcel with this job. Have a great Sunday
Another great video has always Adrian and family 👍
Fit a pressure reducing valve on the water inlet and set your required pressure, save you the hardship of messing around with the tap
Thank you for taking the time to share these videos. You live a busy life already without filming and editing.

Especially bloody Duracell - watch out for their new Already Leaking packs which seem to be getting more and more popular in the shops. 😦
Put a pressure reducing valve and an isolation valve on your feed to the heater, so can you drain it to protect it from frost. 🏴👍
I’ll do just that, very good idea 👌
My hot water tank at home quit, and I didn’t have the money to replace it.
I installed a similar unit in my bathroom, and it’s been working like a dream ever since.
Love Sunday mornings seeing your videos great for mental health
You are one great man Adrian . You run a fabulous job and never complain about being tired or overworked .

I really enjoy your videos Adrain. Greetings from Munich

I'm going to start drinking coffee, seems to work for you.I need some energy.xx
Great video Adrian. Busy calving!! Hope the broken part can be repaired. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video Adrian
I always think you should make a small trolleys that you could easily pull around with your hand tools and power tools when you are doing all these small jobs around the yard
Man with the magic fingers. Just snap! These are my favorite videos.
Thank you for sharing.🐄

Well done Adrian great content as always, stay safe, sleep deprivation can make simple jobs difficult.

I did think of doing that I still might, it will be interesting to see how long the gas lasts too

Good luck with everything on the farm ahead this week 👍👍👍
Brilliant! I have long wanted an instant hot water heater for the greenhouse. I'm glad you found one small enough for your purpose! I agree, get that tank up off the ground.
Great video as always
Busy time for you Adrian, best of luck with it all and look after yourself. 👍
We all do silly things Adrian hopefully it will be able to be fixed, come with having to many things going round the head at one time, great video very enjoyable, good luck to you and all the family
I had to watch the ear tagging twice because they were jumping behind you. So cute.
It'll be good to have that gas water heater when the power goes out again, and super handy to have it close by at any time. Good job with the installation!
Make sure to empty water from the heater when finished , frost can damage the heating element,
I absolutely love watching your channel & sheep school videos because I always learn something from you not that I could do half of what you guys do 😂 thank you 😊

Good video Adrian, you are flat out with the calving, nice water heater
The thing i like about your videos is your ability to tackle everything yourself, nothing seems to faze you. Must be very inspiring for a young person to watch as my young boys are glued here. Great natural humour too which is the real bonus.
I would look for a pressure reduction valve for the inlet feed on that heater, also be sure to drain it before any frost. Keep up the good work bio
Bought one of them heaters a few years ago a great job but dont let it freeze i learnt that one the hard way 😂
That was great work lad
Seeing people mention having the gas bottle outside and the pipe fed through the wall and installing a flue, I would seriously also install a Carbon Monoxide/gas leak detector to be on the safe side.

Hope you don't have any more issues with the calving. Thanks for the videos!
Great video. Just purchased same water heater must install in next day or 2 so thanks for showing the installation of it. 👍👍
When you put the sample into the bottle squeeze the taggers to close and it will pop it closed together for you
Very handy to have a supply of hot water
Good morning ya flying.this year.happy days
Awesome with seeing all the calves! I love it!!!
Adrian, what about cutting saving and drawing home tuff from the bog do you do that. Also do you grow vegetables on your farm or keep chicken's for egg's. Would be nice to see these things in your vlogs.
Great video again Adrian you should get a second cylinder of propane and be ready to charge over when it runs out.
We have a similar set up with our heater....we sir the gas bottle in some old tyres to protect it. Fits nice a snug
Great video Adrian busy time for u all
Have noticed that you use a lot of brass pipe fitting. Is there a reason for that over plastic pipe fitting.
You may already have done it off camera but install a carbon monoxide alarm in the calf shed.
Great work & videos as always! 👍
Good stuff
Could you not put the straw where your scraper is and use the 2 pens? I know you lose some feeding space.
Good to see you again.
Good luck with calving.. quite the plumber.
Nice one Adrian
We have one and needed to put a pressure reducing value on it to control the mains flow
Good vidio , love your sense of humor.
If we have a emp well probably have to test any wAy .
The water heater is intricate.
Glad it works for you .
Great video thanks for all the great content
Another great video Adrian 👍👍👍
U seem to have had a good run of heifer calf’s this year
That.great idea i.use something something similar to.heat apartments dose heat and hot water dose it heat.calf shed too.ya daughter happy outthat good idea have in shed
As allways brilliant vid sending love to the girls and boss 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Can you please have more videos of cattle going into cattle trailer and been saying stuff to the mart
Just been watching brilliant as per usual looking at away of freeing up your second caving pen could you put a loft above your little alley way from carving pen to your slatted shed you can lift bales of straw up with loader and throw it back down when you want to bed up 👍🏻
Would a narrow sink be helpful under the boiler
When do you start calving,
When do you put cows out to grass.
Thanks
Any reason for not using plastic fittings like Plasson? Don’t split in the frost either.
Hi Adrian, I bought the same heater off country farm supplies however I couldn’t find a gas cylinder that fit the gas regulator and I’m wondering how you got it to work
Just sensible keeping book records aswell
Great video adrian
Brilliant video Adrian can you tell me where you got the water pipe for the hot water I only have yellow pipe and water is too hot and pipe collapses thanks
You had a white calf a few weeks ago, was it just a white Friesian or a Holstein or another breed ??
How much are the tags and BVD test now?
Got a question for you Adrian. Why do you separate cows and calves so early
Hows water going work ur water well turn off ??
We’re on public mains water so not an issue there thankfully
Happened our water mains well worked of electricity if our town electricity out no water no shower etc... I was thinking getting big stainless tank system and booster pump... our dairy farm and workshop and house run on 165kva generator
A loose straw shed with 4 or 5 pens would make your a job a lot easier.....
Be careful with water above 60 degrees, as the proteins in the milk will break down
No we only use that kind of heat to warm milk in a bucket within another bucket if you get me. But your correct there 👍
Bang on time haha
Do you have to have a vet to come out for you when they give birth. Me not being a farmer am curious.
You’d get those big red cylinders of gas in Frazers in Kingscourt…
How many milkings before you can send to the creamery?
All depends, some cows have a dry cow tube rather than just a sealer. So have to be carefully on the withdrawal dates with the tubes. Otherwise most Co.opps suggest 3 days if no withdrawal products were used
Thanks for that long ago, for domestic use we used to do 9 milkings , but that would be milking 3 times a day.@@IFarmWeFarm
How get calfs drink out buck so quick
Put the cylinder outside. Much safer
I Laughed at the pierced ear story, My Ma must know your Ma lol I’ve heard the same story in my time.
You will be able to warm your feet up on a cold day with the hot water now😂
I have a calf with a extra 🦵 leg . I am going to keep her in herd
What’s the story with bo Adrian haven’t seen her in a while
Should you not have flue to atmosphere
Do not leave calfs with cow for few days let.suck away on own that way.we did it back in day
More likely to have an empty sample pot if tagging a wet ear so a risk with tagging overly freshly born calves!
I always hold the sample end in the upright position after tagging and then place on the tube over it to seal in the sample, to prevent losing it. I was hoping when Adrian mentioned tagging that he was going to apply NGP samples tags too. First time with NGP tags here will be in March.
👌👌👍👍🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪
👍👍👍.

Keep up great work. Do you use sexed semen. You seem to have a good few heifers being born
