How do you get to learn all this unless you grow up on a farm .. wish these practical skills were more taught .. how to new farmers who don’t grow up on a farm learn all this
Morning Adrian. I look forward to every Sunday for your videos I hope the weather dries up for u it's not been to bad down here recently tho from limerick luimneach abù
Unfortunately has got a lot worse here, had serious amounts of rain and it pouring as we speak, very cold to got. Hopefully some rest bit comes soon for all 🤞
You are a very skilled man. That's not an easy job to get a tube in the right throat passage. Great video and great save of an awesome little calf. Your herd is a credit to how calm you are around them. My dad always said a true herdsman/ person is reflected through their animals.
Nice to see some calm, well 'mannered' cows Adrian. My calves once weaned used to go the the main holding, a large arable farm in Lincolnshire, I'd get them back at the dairy 3 wks before autumn calving started in August, and they'd be pretty stupid and not a joy to milk for several wks. They had a large, curved handling system in there installed, as we reared all the bulls n beef and it seemed they never got the one on one treatment, just every handling time, shoved thro as fast as possible, rushed, poked about. The owner refused to believe this, but he was the son, inherited the whole 3500 acres in total, knew bugger all about cows when I first started there in 2005. He made some clangers and it was always the royal "we", as in, we, got that wrong, we, didn't realise that did we- i did but he wouldn't listen. Head shoved up own ar@e comes to mind.
Hello Adrian! Enjoyed your video as I had breakfast prior to running my 16 yr old to the airport here in Charleston, SC for a school tour trip of the British Isles. They start in Dublin, Ireland! ❤ 🇮🇪 Then on to Edinburgh and London. I'm hoping they see at least a bit of sun over the 10 day tour, but the forecast is pretty grim. But it was nice to see you had a few peeks of blue sky - I hope it shows up for much longer soon. Take care!
Adrian, all of your videos are always informative, interesting and funny! I learn something new every time! Thank you for that. So nice fir your daughters to be helping you in the farm….maybe one day one of your daughters, if not all will want to be a farmer. 🤔
Absolute credit to you adrian I love your videos so happy to see your remedees that helped that poor wee calf watching from calgary alberta but from meath please keep that content of mechanical stuff coming aswell 👌
Hi Adrian and family, watching your videos from Perth, Western Australia and I have been watching for a very long time now and I have learnt so much about your diary farm. I especially love learning all about your cows, calving, fields, milking etc and I am astounded at all the equipment you need and use. You put so much effort into making these interesting and fun videos and we really enjoy watching them. You work so hard everyday and into the evening and still manage to keep a cheery face on. Thanks again and I will continue to keep watching. Love the accent by the way. We have been to Ireland twice on holidays but never got to see a farm.
I’m going to go to the store and see if I can find some handles to put on my calf feeders right now! Hadn’t thought of it before but then I don’t feed the calves very often, thanks for the idea. If we still have the cows in on the first of may I will not be that surprised but we will be on the last crumbs around here, it didn’t help that everything was in a month early and the cows were in six weeks earlier than the year before. Lots of grass just far far too wet to let them out, the damage would be appalling.
Glad you were able to put your feet up with a Pizza, am with you knowing what the weather will bring. Yesterday in the space of an hour we had sunshine, showers, hail stones, torrential rain, sunshine again and then the temp dropped and it was freezing. Good idea with the handles, I always feel it's the little wins that make a day happy. 👍
Okay Adrian, right off the get go your humor got me, again. Of course you remember exactly where the hoses go. I'm not going to drink tea when I watch you. Another mess and a sore nose. It's so wonderful to see the little calves. Glad the poorly one is on the mend.
Good to see da calve up and going Had a suckler cow down after calving have been lifting her for the last couple of days she finally got up on her feet herself this morning Good to get the win
Great video. My father started farming were I'm are in early 1950s. Green field. Built a house diary sheds silage pits. He went to creamery first 2 years with churned and car trailer. Milked with straight milk line put I n jars then bulk tank. Kilkenny ice Bank for 30 years . In 1990s change milking machine and bulk tank. Muller . Went from 3000 liter to 6000 l tank
Before we had a bulk tank we had 10 gallon churns, dad had a cooler which he dropped into a full churn then attached a water hose . the water would go threw pipes to the bottom of the churn and up again to cool the milk and the water pressure would also rotate the cooler on the way out.that was hi tek in the 60s and 70s👍
Fair play Adrian. A real hearty laugh off the girls when one went over!! Have u a running total of heifers to bull calves? Really hope you get better weather…
It's always an eye-opener how much there is to do on the farm. You're a real tooper. I've asked this question before and I'll keep asking it: how do you deal with the typical rodent problems that come with farming?
Great video. We're social creatures so getting out is essential. I'm glad to see the rise of non alcoholic beers. Sore head isn't worth it and you can drive where ya please after and the next morning without any fear !
I’ve seen an automated milking system where the cows wear a transponder and they queue up to be automatically let into a stall and totally without any human intervention suction cups are mechanically placed onto the cows. The machine recognises when the cow has only recently milked and lets the cow out of the stall. It really felt like a factory and no real animal care. I’m glad to see farmers still working with their animals and showing care for them. I hope the factory farming like the above never takes on but I guess it probably will.
The modern tanks have a thermal plate cooler that is nitrogen purged from the factory and they're fitted before the outer skin is fitted and polished and foamed
Great video Adrian I watched a video there on TH-cam lately I wont mention any names he kept his cows out at winter time not on fields in a yard would you agree with something like that
I honestly don’t know much on that one, i see people doing that and they seem to manage it. I would foresee a possible list of potential problems but then i don’t have enough experience nor have witness these happen. It does catch my eye though from time to time
I have 20 cow and I am still bringing the milk with a moible tank by the side of the road 6.30 in the morning it get collect I am hope to get a yard collect but I don't know will I be allowed
Excellence video I remember those old milk thanks on wheels and milking with a bucket plant etc. Did you ever sort the hydraulic oil issues you had with the hedge cutter?
I put a larger return pipe on and ran it direct into the fill inlet. It didn’t fully fix it but it would work for longer. There just not suited to these high flow tractors of today, a tractor with 50-80 litre per min wouldn’t have any issues
Just wondering if you know what your milk is made into? For years ours went to making milky way candy bars then the last few years it went for cheese. Good video as always, you folks stay safe.
Very good, it’s a slower flow than our regular electric heater but then it has to heat the water as it passes through it so it was always going to be slower. It’s continuous hot water with is great
A honest hard working guy, the content of your videos are brilliant.
Thank you, glad you enjoy them Hugh 👍
Definitely some of the best farmer and farming content on TH-cam..excellent work.
Cheers James 👍

Bo is my favourite cow as she’s the red one who’s much easier to identify than the friesians.

Nice update Adrian, hope weather dries up soon, we used to call the eitchied tanks eggshite as the control box was always in trouble.
Big blue box with a temperature needle on it, can just about remember the thing and yes it give plenty of trouble here too

Another great video Adrian 👍👍👍👍
Great idea❤
Hi Adrian. How do you know when a cow os nearly or finished milking? Also how can you tell when a cow is going to calf, or does it just take practice
It's always an eye-opener how much there is to do on the farm. You're a real tooper. I've asked this question before and I'll keep asking it: how do you deal with the typical rodent problems that come with farming?
When are you doing more on the digger?
Love your videos would you ever think about doing milkshakes and selling milk from home
Still have one of does colliers system here on the farm how farming has changed
Great video. We're social creatures so getting out is essential. I'm glad to see the rise of non alcoholic beers. Sore head isn't worth it and you can drive where ya please after and the next morning without any fear !
Never be sorry for something you can’t control
You should put in plate cooler in. To help cool milk quickly. And store water for youse
Great vid as usual sir.. 👌 stay safe 🏴

The old in can cooler system
The modern tanks have a thermal plate cooler that is nitrogen purged from the factory and they're fitted before the outer skin is fitted and polished and foamed
Rember that well old cooling sysetm
dairymaster is the best make of milk tank . it has lower cooling costs than any other make.
Great video Adrian I watched a video there on TH-cam lately I wont mention any names he kept his cows out at winter time not on fields in a yard would you agree with something like that

How many cows do you at one time and total cows milk
Where did you get the covers for your spools
What quantities of your magical conconshin did you give that cured the calf?
Excellence video I remember those old milk thanks on wheels and milking with a bucket plant etc. Did you ever sort the hydraulic oil issues you had with the hedge cutter?
I put a larger return pipe on and ran it direct into the fill inlet. It didn’t fully fix it but it would work for longer. There just not suited to these high flow tractors of today, a tractor with 50-80 litre per min wouldn’t have any issues
Blimey Adrian, I wish we had that much spare silage this year - we are down to 2 weeks ! So will have to buy in 2 more weeks for certain 🤦♂️
How much milk do you give the calf
Coffee works wonders. ☕🍻
The bartender sent out a search party, to look for you. 🍻😁
Just wondering if you know what your milk is made into? For years ours went to making milky way candy bars then the last few years it went for cheese.
Good video as always, you folks stay safe.
very good ! Can you write me the recipe for the calf?
Call the bull calf St. Patrick 😊
G’day Adrian. How’s the rain treating you? Are the fields drying out at all?
I have heard that caffine is good for calves like that one or just born.
