I bought my A4 few days back bcs I got a discount , and the 5 wasn't available in stock in many stores . My preferred one will be 6 :)) a combination of 4 and 5 will work best ! Bdw what settings did you use on 4? /thx
The 5 has a warmer and brighter picture over the 4, though the 4 is much sharper details and shows the clouds more than the 5, both look good for an action camera 👍👍
Great video. OA5 normal color looks strange, very sharp and saturated, OA4 looks more natural. But both on the D-LOG M look basically the same, and you can match the images easily. I think if you already have OA4, it's not worth upgrading.
Yeh, it feels like DJI tried to cram in other improvements, pressure sensor for under water, larger battery (which you can buy for the OA4), larger and much better screens (OLED instead of LCD), software improvements like the zooming/following you, but the sensor is the same size and basic video quality is largely unchanged in DLOGM. That's a skip for me.
@@BikePOV-PauloRodrigo-ow6hm Absolutely, it's really not difficult to do. It's fun to have it in the camera, but feels like DJI were just trying to cram things in because otherwise the image quality is largely the same so not much reason to upgrade.
@@DigiDriftZone And this "SuperNight" is super processed, looks bad, its a SuperNightmare hahaha. You can set your own settings and get a way better low light footage even with a Action 3.
Yes the lower Mbps is a big contributing factor and DJI has said that they will release a firmware update to offer a higher bitrate option, Right now the Action 5 Pro at 4K@30 is 55 Mbps vs 90 Mbps out of the Action 4 and it's noticeable.
I'd use the A5Pro if I was going to court for doing a burnout. It really seems to hide the tire marks you've obviously laid down with the Challenger. So am I wrong...does the A4 actually provide a more accurate depiction of what is real world? The A5Pro seems to clean up fine details...or is that the 5 bit thing impacting the recording?
Jimmy, Yes there is more detail in the Action 4, and the Action 5 Pro almost looks like some noise reduction has been added. The Action 5 records at a lower bitrate 55 Mbps vs 90 Mbps from the Action 4, but DJI said they were going to release a new firmware to offer a higher bitrate option, so that should help a lot with detail.
I’ve been waiting for your review of this camera as you’re one of the few TH-camrs I trust to be brutally honest about products. When will you have your full review out with your overall thoughts?
Thanks Trey, I have a LOT of tests to do with this camera and waiting on the new firmware update from DJI, then I'll release my full review video. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks so I can be fair to this camera.
Disappointed. The 4 looks better than the 5, which looks a couple of stops too bright - where have the details gone? Looks like I'll have to wait again for DJI to issue a 'fix'. After numerous firmware updates, it took them 6 months to dispatch cameras without the focus problem that some people encountered with the original release of the Action 3. 🙏
Exactly. Reminds me of GoPro colour: overexposed and oversaturated. From what I can tell, the DlogM is excellent however, apart from the nasty bitrate issue
The 5 seemed to have a bit "warmer" tonal quality than the 4. Other than that, I didn't see much difference. Any other significant useful additions / changes to the 5 over the 4 to make it worth the additional $50 for the standard combo?
The Action 5 Pro records at a lower bitrate and DJI has said they will offer a new firmware soon to offer a higher bitrate option which should fix the detail issue.
@@WORTHITORNOT I know you shot in auto for testing purposes, but I just drop my exposure by a stop or two in bright exposure situations and video seems fine.
The 4 and the 5 are the same size but the Action 4 weights 143.8 grams and the Action 5 Pro weights 146.3 grams, also the Action 5 Pro has an OLED screens now and the rear screen is from edge to edge.
Same sensor size but max photo resolution is higher on the 5Pro, and it has higher ISO range, so maybe not the same sensor after all. Firmware is going to fix a lot on the 5Pro footage, currently a lot of the detail is blown out. SuperNight is the one where there might be a noticeable difference, even if low light is indeed niche with an action cam. Looking forward to the next video !
I think a lot of it has to do with the low bitrate giving such poor detail when compared to the Action 4. The Action 5 Pro does have a new image sensor, this is from DJI " Our new sensor captures your best. From city nights to dramatic sunrises, get crystal-clear images with a 4nm chip. Experience vibrant imagery with 2.4 μm pixels and 13.5 stops of dynamic range, rivaling pro cameras." Knowing DJI, they will release some firmware updates to improve this camera fast, DJI already acknowledged that they will release a firmware for a higher bitrate option.
@@StirfriedGerman DJI did say they were going to release a new firmware very soon to offer a higher bitrate, Action 5 Pro 55Mbps Action 4 90Mbps, which can account for a huge difference is detail.
Well dang. The 4 looks Sharp and the 5 looks smooth is it worth it to get a 5 just for better screens oled not lcd and the option to have two mics and more under water depth? Hmm i don't know. I'll wait for more videos from your testing before I make a decision. Thank you for all your work on the videos you provided for us.

I don’t see any earth shattering upgrades. The 5 is really a step or two backwards. Maybe with some firmware updates they’ll get it upto the level of the 4. But then why spend the $$$ if it’s only a 4. Thanks for the review Andre.
@@TimHWolfe Hey Tim, well the 5 does have a new sensor and added a 4nm chip. I think after some firmware updates it can be much better. But with saying that, the Action 4 is a rock solid camera.

Weird , at 2:25 the skies on the Action 4 has a lot of banding in the sky where the 5 is smooth. I thought the 4 was also 10 bit. Looking forward to more test clips
I noticed that too, they were both recording 4K@30 10bit normal color profile. Not sure what causes that as it shouldn't be TH-cams compression as that would have affected both clips.
I agree, I think between noise reduction added in camera and the lower bitrate "may" have had something to do with it. DJI stated they will release a new firmware offering a higher bitrate option which I think will help with detail.
