My 5 Pro was a really tight fit in my SmallRig cage which I used with the Action 4 and Action 3. I think this is because the 5 has a thicker protective coating? My 5 Pro takes up to 5 seconds to start if it's been sitting for several hours. The glass lens cover on the 5 Pro is in fact very slightly bigger than that on the 4, so I took the cover off the 4 and put it on the 5 so I could use lens caps I have. 5:49 Gopro did exactly the same with their Hero12, but no one talked about that. On the Hero12 they most probably decreased bitrate to decrease CPU processing. And a decrease in in CPU processing should result in less heat generation, thus a longer runtime before thermal overheating and a longer recording on a full battery charge.
If you use the action camera as a professional, meaning you earn money from it, then it's worth it. If you use the action camera for occasional filming for yourself, then it's clearly not worth it. The differences are not major, but all together, they make it worth switching to the new camera, provided you film and this brings you money so that it is worth the investment.

I don't think so as I don't have the Action 3 anymore and honestly I wouldn't recommend It to anyone. I hated that camera. It had a very soft and unpleasing image in my opinion. Nothing like the A4 or 5 Pro...
Awesome honest review. I just picked up my first action camera, being the Action 5 Pro. Happy with it so far. I'm still learning, should the mic for voice control commands struggle to hear each command, finding it not always responding to take photo. I didn't know the pocket 3 was the better Camera , so fingers crossed this is good enough. Also ive attempted to unscew the lens, i can't do it, it feels stuck. Should it be so tight? Thank you for your review. How does the image quality compare to the Pocket 3? What are the best settings on both camera’s (in normal colour) in order to obtain a simulair image (exposure, colour)? Action 5 and Pocket 3 are complementary camera’s in use, so both should output footage that match, to be able to use it together in one project.
Help me understand, people are saying the Action 5 outshines the Action 4 in image quality.. How so, when these same people are complaining about the bit rate about the Action 5.. Anyone who knows about bit rate , should know the lower bit rate, has a huge effect on image quality. So yes DJI Action 5 has made some upgrades, the most important appeal to consumers is the image quality. OA5 vs OA4 Some Basic Comparisons: 1. The in built mics in OA5 Pro produce Crispier Sound than OA4. 2. One can connect 2 DJI wireless microphones in OA5 unlike OA4. 3. The Night mode video outputs are definitely better and more detailed in the OA5 Pro than OA4. Some may argue that the OA5 does an over noise reduction and output sometimes seems artificial. To put it simply, the low light output in OA5 looks definitely better. 4. Battery life in OA5 is enhanced almost by 2 times than that of OA4. 5. The Screen on the OA5 is now bigger and OLED. So one gets brighter view on the screen. 6. Colour contrast and colour detailing looks better in OA5 Pro, sometimes it does look over sharpened. However hen one uploads the video to TH-cam it doesn't seem that much bad.
I've learned to live with any shortcomings my OA3 has by now, there's nothing grabbing me here in both. I don't apply LUT or have to grade footage anyway and my camera out performs these images. ( For my needs ) Have a look... I love DJI and this is my second OA. I honestly fear that the AP2 will impress me away from the Osmo range as DJI got lazy. 😢
@@Romafedorov DJI managed to increase the video quality in comparison to the previous model (which you proof is right) but also managed to lower the Bitrate for smaller file sizes, I would call this a win-win situation. Let's do it!
@@Romafedorov waiting for your update, do you think dji osmo pocket 3 meet indoor studio talking head videos requirements? I am planning to use amaran 60d or amaran 200d light with lantern softbox for lighting my studio.

@@Jensen_Moen imo means ?
@@The_Battmann in my opinion

@@Jensen_Moen My Bad I'm so noob😁
Thanks man
@@The_Battmann no prob brotha
So I think the oa4 is still reliabke, ya? Phew!
Can you please confirm that on the action 5 pro both screens show live display simultaneously *while recording video* at 4k120 (and if not, at 4k60)?
This was a limitation on the action 4 and I cannot find if this was fixed.
I just tested it now and can confirm that both screens are live when recording in 4k120p
@@Romafedorov Roma, you're amazing! I forgot to mention - can you verify this work with horizon balancing (the +-45 degree one) on as well? I found this limitation in the action 4 so annoying as it Meant I couldn't easily take those videos where I'm transitioning from shooting forward to turning the camera back to me for selfie videos in one shot. I don't know why no one mentions this in their reviews. Thanks again for replying and keep up the excellent work!!!
@@DanMcCain-f6w It doesn't support Horizon Balancing. I just checked..
@@Romafedorov I meant to ask if both screens are live during 4k60 with horizon balacing.
Am I correct in understanding that what you meant is that horizon balancing doesn't work with 4k120 in general?
@@DanMcCain-f6w Both screens are live when recording in 4k60p with HB. HB doesn't work in 4k120p
OA5 vs OA4
Some Basic Comparisons:
However hen one uploads the video to TH-cam it doesn't seem that much bad.
how about screen protector, does screen protector action4 fit to action 5 pro?
I have no clue. I dont have one on either
Action 5 pro colors seemed unnatural and warmer and softer image.
my action 4 has also a wind reduction high. it has settings wind reduction off, normal and high.
Mine doesn't have it. Maybe it's restricted to certain shooting modes? I shoot in 4k25p and D-log M..
Hey Roma
Awesome review.
Thabks @Petet Lingren for suggesting to view
Cheers!
Interesting that the action 5 wins most of your comparisons but you still complain about the Bitrate.
I complain about the bitrate because it's a downgrade from the A4
@@Romafedorov DJI managed to increase the video quality in comparison to the previous model (which you proof is right) but also managed to lower the Bitrate for smaller file sizes, I would call this a win-win situation.
You’re making a problem that is not visible because you’re judging the quality by a number written on a piece of paper instead of the actual quality. Even if your eyes are telling you the exact opposite.
how was chiang mai? Bro
Chiang Mai is great! I've been here for almost 8 years already haha
Deym video looks same I'm getting action 4
To call it PRO is a joke. Let' s say is an Action 4 enhanced.
The Action 4S
i think no
No
Don't mean to be rude, but the high-pitched voice is giving me a headache. Despite the great content, I had to stop watching the review. I know almost nothing about video editing, but is it possible to adjust the audio in production to make it easier on the ears?
Hahaha that's ok. I don't think there is anything I can do to make my voice sound lower pitched without making it sounding fake. Cheers.
@@Romafedorov Even without finishing, I feel it's great content of great value, wish I had watched the whole thing, well, my loss.
Adieu Gopro.. 😂🎉

@@baballe Attendez la 2 elle arrive bientôt .
That bitrate stupid decision makes me not buy this one... also they could put 1 inch sensor...
It's an action camera 📸 With 1 inch sensor it wouldn't be able to focus close and then you'll complain about out of focus issues.
Buy the pocket 3 instead 🪙
@@fendrou i cannot use pocket 3, because i go to street fishing at night...somethimes in the rain, and i cannot mount pocket 3 on my chest and also is not waterproof etc...
@@chemareasalbaticiei There is a way to mount the Pocket 3 on your chest. I have seen a few people do it. You just buy an adapter that has the Gopro mount on it to attach it to the chest mount. If you are fishing and most of your footage is stationary and at night then the Action 5's bitrate shouldn't be that much of an issue. I'd say the Action 5 is your best bet and then the Pocket 3 being the second best bet. I hate the bitrate option a lot. Still plan to keep mine though and will probably keep an Action 4 for more of fast moving footage.
@@BrytonSchwabPhotography i bought it yesterday...and i am so dissapointed with that super night mode...is pixelated and full of artifacts... oversharpened... i hope they will fix this...or is my first and my last dji camera ever 🙂
TLDW anyone?
