  • Hey guys! I’m Brad, and I make how-to videos. I do custom painting projects, guitar painting, airbrushing, spray can painting, wood working, and a variety of other finishing work and tutorials. Please subscribe and check out my channel for more!
    In this video I show you guys a really cool technique that you can use with spray cans to get a very interesting effect. The technique is pretty simple, and all you really need to pull it off is some spray paint and some dish soap. Give it a try! I hope you like it.
    Don't forget to ask your questions in the comment section.

    Cautionary tale :
    when I started to experiment with rattle cans I was working inside without a mask. After a couple of weeks my pc started to act up so I called a friend to look at it.
    The problem was the fan on the back of my pc was pulling the overspray out of the air from the other side of the room and I had literally painted the inside of my pc (purple in case you were curious).
    If it did that in such a short time imagine the effects on a pair of lungs.
    Great videos mate I have subscribed.

    Excellent job! ALWAYS keep your spray paint shaken, to assure even color mixture, and way less chance to spatter. Also, keep it at room temperature. NEVER let it freeze! It will ruin the paint. Always keep your paint, not mater the type, inside. Keep up the great work!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you for an instructional video that is "almost" idiot proof for people Like me! Clear and concise language, roughly knowing what questions I might ask and answering them beforehand in your "do as I say not as I do!" directions.... As a doofus who still at age 50 fails monumentally attempting such intricate techniques as hand print paper turkey & elmers glue mosaic wall "art" I appreciate the simplicity of your tutorial style while understanding the possibilities of, if not the probability of myself expanding upon this application. Blessed with 2 left hands, 8 thumbs & 2 pinkies ( no waiting!) I HAVE to believe I can do what your showing otherwise another mass produced, homogenous potted plant picture wins....and really....who wants that!

    For those of us who dye fabric, this would be called a 'resist' method. The dish soap resists the paint, sort of like tie dye--the string you use to cinch up the fabric doesn't let the dye in to those parts--also a resist method. Very cool!

    Brad, think about this- using different sized nozzle sizes to apply the dish soap. Even down to the smaller hypodermic type needles we use to inject glue into joints for woodworking and repairs. For example, you could write an entire cursive or print script message over a base color, or do more intricate design details than the standard dish soap dispenser allows. Or a personalized logo or name on your headstock. You get the idea I'm sure.

    This is clever. Like it. Thanks. However, Molotow makes a masking marker that does this. It's a paint marker (light blue in color) and it draws on like a marker. Then hardens. Do your thing, then peel it off like masking tape.

    Cool trick indeed! For vertical surfaces you could melt paraffin wax and use an artists brush to paint on the melted wax. I haven't thought this through all the way though, how to get the wax off is the next challenge.

    • @500sureshot
      @500sureshot 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You may not ever see this by…. If your project isn’t to large- and you have used the “waxed method…… try putting it in a freezer or even just the refrigerator ❓Then when you take it out.. kinda “ back bend “ , or tap gently on the opposite side and the wax (most of it) will shatter and break right off !! I hope you get the idea 🤗I’m not very good at explaining what I’m trying to say- (lol)‼

      4:35 when he takes the cap off the nozzle of the bottle he sticks it on a little nub on the cap. Honestly before i watched this video i had no idea what that was lol

      Brad Angove I appreciate the effort and time you put towards the video.. real cool trick for sure, I’m starting to wonder if this would work well with my rc car bodies.

    • @BradAngove
      @BradAngove  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It might work on an rc, but if the surface you put the soap on isn’t reasonably level it will run kinda weird.

    • @TheLaysie
      @TheLaysie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Could maybe find a way to thicken the soap like leave it open for a week or so. Or would that be bad since you dont want it dry for some reason? Have to thicken it without drying.

    perhaps I was trying to bring to many things to mind.
    the paper you were working on
    the silver spray
    then you mentioned guitar.
    I kinda got thrown around.
    After watching 3 more times, this method can be used on multiple surfaces.
    I'm working on metal, the silver spray/paper hung me up.
    thank you though, its marvelous.
