- Louis Vierne's Adagio from Organ Symphony No. 3 (Troisième symphonie pour grand orgue), opus 28 is great but also very sad organ music. Louis Vierne composed the Adagio in 1911, and the entire organ symphony was first performed in March 1912. It has been described as the most inspired and best structured of his six organ symphonies and Vierne dedicated the french organ symphony to Marcel Dupré. I think it's one of the most beautiful adagios in all of the symphonic organ literature.
Vierne, organist at Notre-Dame de Paris, continued the French tradition of secular organ symphonies, such as the works by his teacher Charles-Marie Widor, who had established the organ as a concert instrument.

Please wear some proper shoes designated for the organ. This isn't a home organ, and nobody wants various organists' foot-sweat all marinating on their pedal boards. It's uncouth.
