Mopeds are good getting about the city in traffic and easier to manhandle. The small wheels and suspension make for hard going on potholed roads though. Bikes are much comfier for longer distances and rougher surfaces but a bit more cumbersome to push around… getting into a garage etc. Just my thoughts as I have both

The original Honda 50 with pedals had large wheels (albeit quite thin). Size of wheel doesn't define a moped

The easier way to describe motorcycle-height, is that they're designed around 80cm "crotch height". So, if someone has that length from foot to underside of the crotch, they'll have an ok time getting on them and balancing them.

@@Ridingreviews Obviously they vary, some are 80cm, some 81, some 83, dirtbikes usually have 86-89 etc, it's mainly just around that 80-90cm mark for most styles where something like a enduro-style bike being on the higher end and even above that at times

@@Ridingreviews I hear what you say, but the abbreviation means what it means! The question is...should it have changed...or should they have created a new term relating to twist and go bikes under 50cc? MOPED is still a term that relates to MOtor PEDal...and that cannot really be changed, can it?

@steveaga4683 it the government both mopeds twist and go and geared moped are clased as moped defined by the dvla and the goverment can do whatever they like they shouldn't but the can

Nothing wrong with 50cc scooters. When I was young, lots of girls had them until they passed their car test. No self-respecting, young man would be seen dead on one though.. Times have changed and lads now have no problem, looking girly. But if they are thinking of getting bigger bikes later on, get a geared bike ( and have some pride)
