Good to see you back Dariush! I still have no chance to see yesterday's video, but I will. One of my favorites from the 90's, still have about half a bottle of the original, still smells very good, the sillage and performance are nuclear, yes you can tell that there is some loss of the top notes in the fragrance, but I'm wearing it right now and the heart and base notes are still as good as I remember, so I can't wait to buy a bottle of Wake up World to compare them. To me this immediately took me back to how his Minotaure used to smell - the current version is a pale shadow of it. I wish some other perfumers would bring back their own perfumes that have been ruined by reformulation. I often wonder if perfumers get annoyed at the way their perfumes (& reputations) get trashed by reformulations - when people smell perfumes that have been lauded but have been reformulated so many times they are nothing like the original version that got rave reviews & then wonder what the fuss was all about. Is this a perfumer reclaiming his legacy?
Got a pre-assembled discovery set from Parle Moi at a US retailer and I did not like any of them! It seemed like the set was assembled for the US mass market since the brand allows you to make your own set. They were so aggressively synthetic and familiar. Thankfully, I decided to try more and Wake Up World, Gimauve and Papyrous Oud turned out to be much better albeit still smell very familar. Glad to hear your thoughts on this one.
Until now I only had 2 signature scents Jazz for YSL & Minotaure for Paloma Picasso. I sampled wake up world and it is really so close to Minotaure. As I also sampled more perfumes from this brand and they are really nice. But since the last 4 years, I always like to discover new perfumes, so I don't have anymore a signature scent
Could you please do an interview with Michel? I would pay to watch that. Can’t find any videos of him talking about his work! I think this would be the first of its kind if you could make it happen
Persolaise, this immediately reminded of Drakkar Dynamik - not certain if they share the Dihydromyrcenol in addition to the apple. Fruity, laundry clean, and perhaps a touch of musk/powder. Maybe to a lesser extent Kouros Silver (?) and perhaps a touch of Amyris Homme(?)
A mini-taur 😆 But I'll take DHM over Amber Xtreme any day. Like, ANY day. Unfortunately, it sounds like Michel used both in this one. 😞 At this point, I'm almost gagging for Ambrox. 🤭
