I don’t get how creatures with such sharp senses and social instincts could be fooled by something that probably smells like plastic, can barely move, and emits metallic whirs and clicks from its innards. Seems more than possible they’re not fooled but just think it’s more cute or intriguing than creepy.
It does seem like they were just sniffing it for a second to determine that it was not dangerous, and then just did their own thing, rather than "accepting it" into the pack somehow.

Lix that doesn’t seem likely. Birds have evolved to recognize the exact species of their offspring because of brood parasites and many mammals abandon cubs that aren’t theirs genetically. I would think most animals would have the instinct to realize that something isn’t even organic, let alone a part of their species.
@@jesserobertson808 not really. Have you heard about what the cuckoo birds do with their eggs and how other birds can't recognize it's chicks and keeping feeding until they're almost young adults. These are wild dogs not humans. Our brains are complicated enough to process the things that are off about the robo pup but these dogs don't have brains like ours and don't understand what robots are not to mention it's literally mimicking their pup's behavior.
