I'm always thinking that poor vegans are completely brainwashed to the point that they destroy their bodies with unnatural, made made trash that either has no nutrition, or inaccessible nutrition for humans. The natural, ideal human diet is animal organs, animal flesh, blood, eggs, raw milk and some fruit. The Earth is a brutal relentless place, and humans are just a result of it. Nothing is more natural than Man eating meat
Oh I am so glad you did this video. I had commented on Russell's post and argued not all vegans are healthy nor are all vegans unhealthy. Moreover, I stated its not a diet. Thanks Ed for covering this.
Ed, quick point: nutritional yeast might be a better argument for a healthy processed food. Straight raw yeast is nasty to digest. Nooch is great. Fortified nooch is even better.
I love this company appeal!! I’m setting up my nutrition practice after finishing my internship and I am explicitly presenting myself as vegan nutritionist, deciding not going for plant based per de because I’m vegan for animals and that changed my health for better. I want to advocate for healthy nutrition but in a way that puts animals first and so people can be supported to do well while doing their part to chose compassion!
Im glad you're making an effort to make your brand as ethical as possible. Just a note for consideration: Even organic cotton has a large impact and if you can use hemp or a hemp blend or linen instead that would be more sustainable.
Oh dear Ed. You DO have a way with calm, intelligent, insightful, sound arguments. Hope Brand sees this. And congrats on the clothing line. Excellent. 🌱💞
You are doing absolutely amazing things Ed. I credit you for giving me that last little nudge I needed to go vegan and great work on the new clothes line!
I actually stopped eating meat for health reasons (and I've been avoiding dairy for over a decade, having become lactose intolerant) and I don't miss it, so the meat alternatives haven't really interested me. However, I was glad that the restaurant my daughter chose for her birthday meal offers Beyond Meat burgers. It was enjoyable having burgers and fries again to celebrate a special occasion. Vegan meats are not something I'd want to eat every week, but the foods they're replacing shouldn't be eaten every week either.
Congratulations on the clothing brand! I might ask for one (or two, or some) for my birthday (17th September). Thanks for all you do for the animals, the planet and the people!
@I Coroa The humans in factories aren’t getting their throats slit. Nor are they working against their will. Everything in life is a choice. But what choice do the animals have? None, because people like you keep trying to justify cruelty which keeps them in line.

Thanks for the video Ed! In my activism and content I go back and forth between prioritizing the potential health aspects of a vegan diet, not because I think that's the most important theme, but because I've found that that is what gets most people listening. On a more personal note, I wish I could say I went vegan for ethical reasons, but it was really the health angle that started me down this path. Anyways, I'll continue to play around with the messaging and see what works :)
Russell just doesn't get it. I do eat an organic high raw vegan diet about 75% - 80% of the time. But just like any lifestyle, we all need out cheat days. I do eat Impossible burger, Beyond sausage, Just Egg about 25% of the time. I agree, Ed, these options are still much healthy than the animal-products they replaced. People also don't understand that most animal products are processed. A lot of ground beef has red slime which makes it look healthier. White eggs don't get laid that way. If we want to be real about processed foods and health, let's be real in every way. Thanks, Ed, for another awesome video!
The fact that you think white eggs aren't natural shows you're highly alienated from the source of your food. And calling meat-replacement products cheating comes across crazy fundamentalist. They're literally vegan, how is it cheating?
I’m a POC. A lot of my culture roots as well as comforts are with food, some of which is not vegan. Meat alternatives probably are the one thing keeping me full vegan at this point. Anything from tofu to seitan to advertised false meat is helpful to some of us! 😄
Food for thought: Should culture dictate morality? Is something okay simply because it is part of a cultural practice? Or, should cultures evolve in ways that are more ethical and shed cultural practices that exploit animals?
thats great that your using alternatives instead of the real animal that dies for it. but as the person said above culture doesnt dictate morality, its in some peoples cultures to do child sacrifices but this isnt considered moral purely because it was a cultural practice, if it causes someone else pain then its not justified no matter the reason, espeically if it doesnt HAVE to be practiced
Omnivores will continue to be omnivores. Just like priests make a sacrifice to give up sex, vegans make a sacrifice to go against their nature by only eating plants. Humans will continue having sex and eating animals because it’s driven by our dna.

I actually think Russell would agree with what Ed says in this video, as he always says he get things wrong from time to time. For that reason I feel it should have been a discussion between them both, or a video simply addressing the subject, rather than the title & thumbnail used, directing it as a beef between Ed & Russell. Ed addresses the fact that the video isn't an attack on Russell as a response video, but the title/thumbnail suggests it is, and consequently might drum up hate & negativity where its not necessary. Having said all this, love both Ed & Russell for the positive change they are making in the world. United we make real change
I have to confess that I accidentally started WFPBD because I couldn't leave the house during the pandemic. I needed recipes for the non-perishables and I fell in the rabbit hole of WFPBD, I continued because of health (middleaged) and the peer review evidence in nutrition science. I never even thought about animal slaughter industry or destruction of forests for animal feed. It took someone who was vegetarian to point out that I was vegan, that made me to look for the definitions of vegetarian and vegan, just then, almost 6 months in the process that I fell in the rabbit hole of climate change and animal suffering. I now am very proud of reducing suffering and carbon footprint but in the beginning I couldn't care less.
@@jeremiahbaxter6887 I was so uneducated about it I found the definition for vegetarian a bit confusing because honey, milk and eggs are not vegetales. I would've called it "I Don't *Exploit Animals" which is more all-encompassing than just 'eating' animals because vegetarians may not eat animals but still consume dairy.
That's true, but most people in society won't understand the shirt if they see it. The point of these shirts is to advertise animal rights and get the people around you to acknowledge that veganism is a valid option. It can be helpful in sparking conversions. But if it said "I don't exploit animals", people in general might think that means you don't support exploitation of pet animals. Because non-vegans don't acknowledge that there are issues with how farm animals are treated.
@@joannot6706 Haha I don't wanna see it like that. I'm a huge fan of Ed and I look up to him in everything he does for the liberation of all life. I just thought 'exploit' sounded better, that's all.

I think that after you’ve been vegan for a while you really don’t care much for the meat alternatives anymore, however they’re nice to have sometimes when recreating the food you might have grown up with, swedish meatballs etc. Point is when you eat healthy 90% of the time it really doesn’t matter if these meat alternatives are healthy or not.
I would advise staying away from fake meat products as most I have tasted so far have been mostly awful. The only product I have ever come close to proper enjoying is Richmond sausages. I mean real ones hardly have meat in them anyway. Beans and Rice's and lentils in a stew is one of my favourites.
As an autistic vegan I can honestly say that veganism probably wouldn't be as accessible to me if I couldn't eat meat alternatives everyday. Due to sensory issues and executive dysfunction when cooking I HAVE to rely on them, and I'm glad to be able to. Meat alternatives has taken veganism from something wildly unaccessible to disabled communities to something quite achievable; for me anyway!
So glad you addressed this. I was a little surprised to see him make that video. Even if he's not vegan, I thought he was intelligent enough to understand how it works.

@@rondarkman. ah you’re one of those weird meat eating people. Why are you in the comment section of an earthling Ed video if you don’t mind me asking..?
He's made some fantastic points here. I'm definitely going to use these points in my conversations with most esters, and there views on processed meat alternatives. Thank you
Personally, I find Brand hilarious but am baffled as to why he does not use his massive platform to advocate for Veganism or at least discuss the oppression, violations or propaganda dispelled by Animal Ag industries. He’s weirdly quiet about it, despite being unequivocally vocal about other social injustices, corrupt industries and propaganda.
Because veganism kills more animals and habitat than a carnivorous diet, kills children, destroys your health and supports big pharma and Monsanto maybe 🤔
Because there’s bigger fish to fry at this point I believe he would rather be a martyr for human rights instead of one for animal rights and I fully support that

I'm not vegan, I'm vegetarian, but I love listening to this man talk. He listens and understands all points and comes back with a Jesus like attitude to change the minds of the people. Absolutely amazing.
"Being vegan, or at least flexitarian (...)" Well, that's not a good start, Russell, demonstrating at the outset that you have no idea what veganism is.
He is in fact promoting plant based diets, so maybe you should not jump too conclusions. It's ok if people are not 100% vegan. The important thing is that they try and are aware.
He definitely knows exactly what veganism is and is an advocate of it. You may not have the proper context from the 10 seconds of him you saw in this video. He was in no way equating veganism with flexitarians, just referring to both in the same sentence.
@@Cogsworth23 exactly^^ And given Russel’s 5M+ subscriber base, which is mostly there for the political content he provides, will be much less eager to listen to anything related to animal rights/veganism than people who land on Ed’s channel. I think Russel’s trying to be polite while also encouraging more people towards leaving animals off the menu more often and/or sooner. I am not an advocate for that approach, am more of “cold turkey” proponent, but I understand (from observing people’s reactions to me and my suggestions) that far too many people feel going at least plant-based overnight is too much for them and would in that case not change their habits, where gradual change might seem more digestible for them.
I like the IDEA of being able to recognise each other out and about rather than just at the dinner table! one day we’ll be a majority, ever closer to a No-slaughterhouse world ❤️
10 years vegan here, and while I started on a 100% ethical sentiment ,I'm 50 y.o now and I also do it for my health equally. No processed food for me, and anyway I always hated fast food and even cheese in my younger days. I don't miss the taste of anything non vegan. But I understand that for those who eat these alternatives, they are indeed voting for the elimination of animal exploitation, and that makes me happy. To each their own vegan meals! I used to be the vegan food police but no more.
Loved the video. A bit dissapointed your clothing brand is all cotton as this plant takes so much more water & pesticides than hemp, hemp is defintely the future for fashion please make this step!
I absolutely loved the clothes and the IDEA behind it. Get it? On the other hand, I really don't know why is it so hard to understand that veganism advocates for more plant based options to "regular" food precisely because it's not like we immediately just hate the taste of meat. It's easier to make someone transition when you show them that the sacrifice isn't that big because they can keep eating even those tasty not-that-healthy foods but cruelty free! And the more vegan people there are, the more alternatives will keep coming. This and the fact alone that we can thrive on a vegan diet should be great news for anyone concerned about animals and the environment, I know it was for me when I educated myself and I'm never looking back. Thanks for the information Ed.
I remember feeling really awkward at one part of his speech at VCO 2021 because he randomly started going on about his spiritualist beliefs. Like, what about the animals?
Russell has stated on many occasions that he does consider the animals, and he's against exploitation in general, and I'm guessing that's an elemental of his spiritual exploration. He also stated (for comedic purposes) that he was peer pressured into veganism, since he has a strong ethical mindset, and knew it was the right thing to do even if he didn't really want to at first. So maybe he isn't an activist for the animals, but I'm sure it factored into his decision, since he seems like a very considerate, caring person.
@@waynemongo I went vegetarian at 13 years old and it was for the animals. I went vegan 10 years ago following the most incredible AHA moment of my life! I realised immediately that I never truly understood! Whilst I respect Russell immensly on his views of kindness in society etc. Sadly, when it comes to veganism the penny hasn't quite dropped.
If he understood he would be fighting for those animals the way he fights for equality against racism, sexism, classism, hetrosexism... He does not fight against speciesism and call out those who partake in it in the same way.
OMG mate, thank you for finally saying it! Because many vegans are stating that process vegan meats are just as bad as real meats. And I know they are not! When I eat them, I definitely do not feel they way I used to when I ate meat. And even though they are processed, many of them have really good stuff. But I wish these companies would make them more healthier. I guess the problem is they have to raise the price of the food.

I've been vegan for over 15 years now and to be honest I can't remember a meal I have which doesn't have anything processed. I never went vegan because I didn't like the taste or my health! When I first went vegan you couldn't even get soya milk in the supermarket it was tough as I never liked fruits and vegetables but my moral compass was far more important to me so I made do, now I don't have to make do and I'm loving I can have the taste and texture of the type of foods I love.
same bro i loved meet when i was a kid hated vegetables (still don't like them) i stopped eating red meet when i was about 8 went vegetarian when i was around 9, then went vegan when i was 16
much respect for being vegan and not changing your morals cause it "wasn't easy"
Yep, soy milk only at the health food store. I remember that. :)
Not every food you ever eat has to be healthy. A reasonable diet can include junk food sometimes too. So there is a lot of room for vegan junk food
Dr. No isn't liked as in no meat , no dairy, no oils (so no junk too), no emphasis on organic, no nitric oxide, because it's so cheap and much harder to market than the more expensive AND less healthy. options

Me too!
I have a friend who is vegan, but eats vegan junk food, when there’s lots of ethnic food that has always been vegan and much better for the body!

I have been waiting for a video like this! As always your amazing! Looking forward to getting some clothes.
Yes yes yesssss! Thank you Ed! Just placed my first order, I cannot wait to get it! Much love 🙏☀️💖
Wow once again, Ed, you’ve articulated my frustrations so well! Congratulations on the clothing brand!
I’m a POC. A lot of my culture roots as well as comforts are with food, some of which is not vegan. Meat alternatives probably are the one thing keeping me full vegan at this point. Anything from tofu to seitan to advertised false meat is helpful to some of us! 😄
just call yourself white and eat crappy vegan food. there, i solved your problem.
Food for thought: Should culture dictate morality? Is something okay simply because it is part of a cultural practice? Or, should cultures evolve in ways that are more ethical and shed cultural practices that exploit animals?
@@Xur______ nothing wrong with eating meat. no one needs to abandon their culture, for the pathetic European vegan culture.
thats great that your using alternatives instead of the real animal that dies for it. but as the person said above culture doesnt dictate morality, its in some peoples cultures to do child sacrifices but this isnt considered moral purely because it was a cultural practice, if it causes someone else pain then its not justified no matter the reason, espeically if it doesnt HAVE to be practiced

You're projecting a lot there Daniel, plenty of vegans enjoy meat alternatives as a staple of their diets
i’ve been vegan over 6 years and eat meat alternatives regularly
@@russell.bishop of course, as I said “I think” 😅 Just experience from my family and vegan friends.

He’s weirdly quiet about it, despite being unequivocally vocal about other social injustices, corrupt industries and propaganda.

I'm not vegan, I'm vegetarian, but I love listening to this man talk. He listens and understands all points and comes back with a Jesus like attitude to change the minds of the people. Absolutely amazing.
"Being vegan, or at least flexitarian (...)" Well, that's not a good start, Russell, demonstrating at the outset that you have no idea what veganism is.
lol, "being vegan, or at least eating salad sometimes..."
@@Cogsworth23 exactly^^
And given Russel’s 5M+ subscriber base, which is mostly there for the political content he provides, will be much less eager to listen to anything related to animal rights/veganism than people who land on Ed’s channel.
Russell is actually a vegan himself…

10 years vegan here, and while I started on a 100% ethical sentiment ,I'm 50 y.o now and I also do it for my health equally.
Theres alot of vegan meats, boughten and homemade that are indistinguishable from the real thing.

It's for people like Russell that veganism seems like this spiritual health experience and is not about animals.
I remember feeling really awkward at one part of his speech at VCO 2021 because he randomly started going on about his spiritualist beliefs. Like, what about the animals?
That's BS. Brand was a vegetarian at 14. Back in those days that wasn't spiritual it was animal rights.
