Well, my father has two farms where he has cattle and I used to depend on it, when I was 13 years old I had an epiphany and realized I had to go vegan for ethics, these cows were my friends, and they took them to slaughter. I was really sad. Mostly because one day my father shot in the head a cow that kicked me while he was trying to put a hot steaming metal thing on her skin, it's called to shoe a cow. She kicked me and I almost die but instead of hating the cow I understood what she had to say, she didn't want to be there suffering, it felt like with that kick she spoke to me. It's crazy how I instead of being hateful, like my father was, I was empathetic with her. Brings me to tears because then my dad shot at her in the head and he made me eat her cheeks. As someone who has always greatly valued consistency, honesty, and kindness, even as a small child, it's always been against my nature to knowingly make someone else suffer for my benefit, and I'm not good at shoving things down and not analyzing them, I have to know how and why things work the way they do, more so than I have to keep on keeping on.

I'd say vegans are getting desperate. Veganism is hitting a wall, and demand for meat has never been higher. Here's an idea, just enjoy being vegan, and stop trying to annoy the shit out of everyone else
@@mhl8396 Vegans' criticism of meat-eaters is the unnecessary animal suffering and environmental damage. Your criticism, in turn, is that they're being... annoying. Hm.
It never ceases to amaze me when some people think vegans only eat highly processed meat alternatives, burgers, hot dogs and fries. I'm sure some do, but these foods are not required to be vegan. Also, it's incredibly disingenuous to compare minimally processed meat to highly processed foods of any kind; compare apples and apples. And finally, if we're comparing burgers for example, Impossible burgers are not the only plant-based option. There are thousands of plant-based burger patty options and recipes, from highly processed to whole food/homemade. If someone cares about health (as these people pretend to), then they can be whole-foods plant-based. The truth though is that they don't care about health at all, they just think that if 1 vegan product is unhealthy then veganism is not a realistic option for anyone.
Exactly. The plant-based burgers I eat are always made out of things like beans and potatoes. Completely healthy. To use "Impossible Burgers tho" to shore up your carnism is ludicrous.
So true...I think that alot of vegans might start on processed versions then move on to healthier wholefoods when they get the hang of it! Personally I eat mostly wholefoods and use the processed stuff as a rare treat.
you are just trying to imitate REAL beef burgers, which is really sad. Not to mention you are slowly deteriorating by "protecting animals" with some plant that never existed decades ago
I suffered from metabolic syndrome (obesity, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and high blood sugar). I went whole food plant based no sugar oil or salt and I lost 65 pounds, all my conditions greatly improved, my gums stopped bleeding, and erections and energy returned. I used to have an appetite that was never satisfied; whole foods cured it. I no longer use a sleep apnea machine. Finally, the food is cheap-Beans, lentils, rice, potatoes and seasonal apples. Also, I save money by not having to buy pills or visit the Doctor. I am thankful to all the vegans who suffered attacks to reveal the truth to me.
Why cut out salt and oil? Salt and olive oil are very healthy, you need salt to function properly. Seems like all those things were self induced with your poor choices.
Look on the back of the ingredients look how many ingredients there is in such things like beyond burger and other products it’s absolutely disgusting the salt they have the sugars they have and these other chemicals you can’t even pronounce them. Good luck anyway

I wish people could understand that MEAT ALTERNATIVES ARE NOT (NECESSARILY) SUPPOSED TO BE HEALTHY. They're SUPPOSED TO SAVE ANIMALS. On the other hand, I always think stuff like this is positive, because it means the anag industry is feeling the pinch. Great work Ed!
Who the hell is eating that much of These products anyway? I eat maybe 50g of vegan cheese and maybe 150-200g meat alternative products a week. Back when I was still consuming animal products I would easssssily eat that much cheese and meat each day plus most days I had eggs too, and I think I was pretty typical.
Especially important to note that the MEAT these alternatives are BASED ON are unhealthy - Red meat is so unhealthy that processed plant-based beef still ends up relatively healthy in comparison.
That won't work. You have to see it from the perspective of a meat consumer. THEY, DON'T, CARE about other sentient beings, only what's beneficial to themselves. So, why would they care about saving animals? They really don't care. Just look at how all over vegan comments sections how many of them just troll and even mock the suffering of poor animals. And as long as they are convinced by these RIGGED, deceptive studies that meat alternatives aren't even better than actual meat, WHY then would they even want to buy those products (mockmeats) in the first place or ever go vegan? They want something that tastes and imitates meat as much as possible (such as Beyond Meat), but as long as they are believing the propaganda and disinfo that they are somehow WORSE than meat is (which they are absolutely NOT), they will reject any vegan diet. There is NO, WAY, that actual meat is healthier than any plant based alternative. Real meat is the only one that will always have cholesterol, high animal saturated fats, their trans fats, mammalian estrogens and animal heme iron - ALL proven to lead to all our major diseases. But these things are ignored when these biased studies show up that only attack one side and no one calls out their fraudulence. We need a video actually analyzing that study to expose all its deceptiveness and obvious bias, not back into a corner and allow them to take down plant based meats from the market. Those products are the only thing that give meat consumers a reason to try meat alternatives, as they are better for the environment, far HEALTHIER and without the great risks of major diseases, and obviously these alternatives save animals. That study wasn't even focused on plant based meats, only junkfoods like potato chips, cookies and cake!

I think a lot of people struggle to realise that going vegan is not just changing ur diet but relearning nutrition and the nutrition you’ve been taught as a kid and thats why a lot of people go straight for processed vegan food or give up veganism quickly bc they don’t do or understand that it requires a lot of research to do it right and see the benefits of being vegan
Yup. My first try at giving up meat ended up with me feeling miserable and sleepy all the time so it's probably not something anyone should be doing cold turkey. But I learned my lessons, did some research and now I feel great. I gave up meat a while ago, then last year I finally went full vegan. Now I'm motivated to make even more positive changes this year. And they will go looking for some study based on the conclusion without questioning the methodologies. It is like they have to justify their own diet.
Unhealthy plant-based alternatives argument is embarrassingly flimsy. I've been confronted about it a couple times and my answer is always the same: I eat ultraprocessed plant-based alternatives less frequently than I ate their animal based counterparts before I was vegan. I eat less junk in general on top of not taking in ldl, carcinogens and lactose from animals. The funny things is, on the flip side, when I go out to restaurants with a group, someone always suggests that I might order a salad from a place that doesn't cater to vegans. So we have people thinking we're going to have a heart attack from shoveling beyond burgers down our throats and people thinking that we'd consider a bowl of iceberg lettuce a meal. I'm visibly in better shape than all if these people and am more educated on nutrition, but they think they know better because they follow conventions.

22 sets of twins tried both vegan and meat diets. Researchers at Stanford University studied the twins' cardiovascular health. After eight weeks following their respective diets, the twin siblings who ate a vegan diet had lost more weight, reduced their LDL, or "bad" cholesterol, and experienced lower insulin levels, according to the study's findings. "The findings from this trial suggest that a healthy plant-based diet offers a significant protective cardiometabolic advantage compared with a healthy omnivorous diet," the study's authors wrote. We're talking about a socio-scientific issue coming from people believing they are smart enough to interpret any study on their own and come to conclusions that differ from the experts. I believe intellectual humility and multidimensional understanding beyond your own view should be more important for being scientifically literate than just understanding how research takes place//the scientific method

Hasn’t it been confirmed that products like impossible products are detrimental to your health? Just look at the long list of ultra processed ingredients in a product like that. Are all meat substitutes the same? Probably not. Some companies try to use better ingredients, but most of them still have unhealthy oils and protein sources. I think we can all agree that plant based Whole Foods is the way to go with minimal processed foods like tofu, Tempe, bean pastas, etc.
I don't want to remember what it taste like to eat a chicken, cow, pig etc......that is why I am not into the fake stuff. I eat clean. Real veggies and fruits. I have been a Vegan for over 20 years now and it is also the best thing that ever happened to my food bill. Eating Vegan....as raw as possible has allowed me to avoid any medications at all at my age of 71. But even if I were told that being Vegan would shorten my life span....let's say 10 years or more....I would still be Vegan because it is the right thing to do. The Meek (those who do no harm) will be the ones who inherit the New Earth. This last train only carries those who are pure in heart.
That's exactly why I think those highly processed products are best enjoyed by carnists and new vegans. Once you've been at it a while, your craving for the taste of muscle and blood and the feel of sinews goes away. You also start to break taste associations and realise that some of the tastes you crave have nothing to do with animal products at all, and are actually natural flavours of spices that we have been told are the taste of bbq meat etc (eg, when I first went vegetarian, before I was vegan, I thought I was craving hotdogs, but I was actually craving the smoky taste they apply to hotdogs. So there's actually zero need for hotdogs).
We appreciate you putting the mental and emotional labor into videos like this to wade through and call out misinformation and to break down and provide the facts. It's such important work and you are very appreciated.
The study seems intentionally deceptive so that those claims can be made. Most people will never even read more than the headline and almost none will look into whether the claims in an article are true especially if it conforms to their bias. The damage is done and the study probably did what the designers set out to do.
Nah, the study designers and researchers are actively out there trying to fight fires, responding to and dismissing the nonsense misrepresentation from the media coverage. The study is perfectly fine, and worded clearly and objectively. But even the most transparently clear study can be lied about by unscrupulous scumbags.
For those who have read Ed's books and are looking for some related books that can be attributed to this topic I recommend Bad Science and It’s a Bit More Complicated Than That by Ben Goldacre. I get frustrated when I hear people talk about UPFS where they don't take into account that over half their diet consists of it.
Why aren't those articles taken down when it's clearly spreading misinformation that can potentially hurt the health of so many people? Where the hell is the responsibility? Why aren't those people being held responsible for promoting their harmful ideological agenda at the expense of people's health?
My understanding as of now is that a plant based diet isn’t inherently more or less healthy than an omnivorous one. However, a diet with less saturated fats and more nutritionally dense, less processed Whole Foods is healthier than the opposite. People who go vegan tend to be more health conscious than the average person. That’s another underlying variable. As of now, as someone who’s slowly transitioning to a plant based diet, what I’ve learned is you have to educate yourself on nutrition and make sure you’re getting all your minerals. I was reading up on a recent study comparing omnivorous diet vs vegan. I don’t know why the “researchers” thought having the vegan diet have less saturated fats and calories than the omnivorous one. If you truly wanna know if a vegan diet is healthier, you have to test two “healthy” diets, or two diets that are similar. Like diet with more Whole Foods, less processed foods, less trans fats is going to be better for you. If all parameters are met, is a vegan diet actually healthier?
There is info on whole foods plant based diets reversing diseases like heart disease or diabetes. Watch the doctors and documentaries on Plant Based News, Plant Chompers, Mic the Vegan, Lifting Vegan Logic, BitesizeVegan, and FullyRawKristina. Watch Rich Roll on the blue zones of long living people. The man who investigated the blue zones for years said it convinced him to eat plant based.
Watch the recent video on Plant Chompers called "Unravelling the Controversy". There, Chris interviews several of the study authors from the recent "vegan vs. omnivore" study (assuming this is the same one you refer to) and the researchers directly address and explain the way that these things were controlled for and why. I think that might address many of your concerns.

I'd say vegans are getting desperate. Veganism is hitting a wall, and demand for meat has never been higher. Here's an idea, just enjoy being vegan, and stop trying to annoy the shit out of everyone else
@@mhl8396 Thought you meat guzzlers would have been grateful for the help with your constipation problems.....
always has been.
Ja well no fine! What’s your story? Gibberish
These are the same people who believe veganism is unaffordable because they think we eat faux meats and cheese at every meal.
George, I’m really happy for you, thanks for sharing your experience.

Why cut out salt and oil? Salt and olive oil are very healthy, you need salt to function properly. Seems like all those things were self induced with your poor choices.

@@BigBlueMan118my fat ass is poisoning itself with the Impossible whopper... sorry
I agree

The book gives a highly compelling argument and the facts no one can deny. Wonder, what are your thoughts?
Hasn’t it been confirmed that products like impossible products are detrimental to your health? Just look at the long list of ultra processed ingredients in a product like that. Are all meat substitutes the same? Probably not. Some companies try to use better ingredients, but most of them still have unhealthy oils and protein sources. I think we can all agree that plant based Whole Foods is the way to go with minimal processed foods like tofu, Tempe, bean pastas, etc.
I’m reading your book right now. It’s been very helpful.

The study seems intentionally deceptive so that those claims can be made.
Most people will never even read more than the headline and almost none will look into whether the claims in an article are true especially if it conforms to their bias.

The plant based diet is considerably more healthy for the animals. That is an undeniable fact.
"And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat".
Genesis 1:29
Hi Hugo, as a Christian vegan I prefer to describe my diet as a “Genesis 1” diet to fellow Christians, rather than vegan 😂. Not only that but how many Christians justify their meat eating on the basis of the word “dominion” in the preceding verse!?!
@@philiptaylor7902 Very true. We all try to justify our sinful behaviors. We all have a choice to make. God bless you. Praise Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior!
As a Jew, I feel proud that the only Jewish country in the world is also the most vegan- 10% of the population!
“Jamie represents a dangerous combination of nauseating arrogance & incomprehensible ignorance.” 👏👏👏

How odd .... Every time I point folk to a reputable source for UK newspaper sales, the post gets reported umder false pretences and removed. Maybe the fact that all except one specialist broadsheet (printed on pink paper) and another (freebie found on buses, at stations etc) demonstrate a drastic year on year drop in sales has something to do with it.
Legacy media is fast becoming an irrelevance, but their fragile egos are further dented if people know just how quickly they're becoming an utter irrelevance.
There ... haven't mentioned any titles, lets see how long this one stays up.
The appropriate term for writers like Jamie is, "Smugnorant," a portmanteau of Smug and Ignorant.
Awesome video
