It’s funny watching them fall into the same hole Universal has been struggling to dig itself out of the past couple years. You think Disney would have learned from the competitions mistakes and yet Universal has learned and improved in immersive theming while Disney gives in to just using screens all the time.
I HATE this ride. I also hate Toy Story Mania which is very similar to the Web Slingers ride. Aside from the motion tracking censors, it’s very unimaginative. It should be Spider-Man taking down criminals and villains with some animatronics.
Yep they're totally going to listen to the small loud minority that constantly cries about everything and totally ignore the fact that the ride is massively popular with the majority.
not sure if its even possible to have animatronic battles with spidey and villains, even the incredible spidey ride at universal has zero animatronics in it
Legoland had already opened the Ninjago attraction which uses the same tech. That type of ride works really well in a smaller park such as that but for Disney I would expect a lot more. Especially since this is based on the biggest movie franchise in the world and one of the most popular and recognizable characters in pop culture. People are saying this is a cheap Six Flags type of ride but I would argue that Six Flags created a BETTER dark ride with their Justice League rides. Just add Web Slingers to the growing list of uninspired offerings that Disney has been putting out the last few years.
That would have been so much better! I honestly wish they went with that instead. Also the spider man ride was going to be good at first but they scrapped the original plans for the Spider-Man ride. It was going to be a suspended from a overhead track ride where you’d swing through the city with Spider-Man. But the web slingers ride idea was cheaper so that went with it instead.
Went on the ride of the weekend -- pretty cool, but I agree it goes by FAST and you barely have time to even judge that you're doing well. This is a ride that I feel will be more palatable when it cools down to having a normal standby entrance that I can hop on in 15 minutes during off-hours. The virtual queue requirement right now makes it a little underwhelming.
If I'm being completely honest, I didn't like the ride at all. I went in with extremely low expectations knowing that it could never live up to the masterpiece of a Spiderman ride at Universal's Islands of Adventure and those expectations weren't even met. I found the technology to be very inaccurate and the required motion uncomfortable. The story of the ride was lackluster and the Spiderbots have nothing to do with Spiderman. They had to have known that this ride would be compared to the one at Universal but even without the comparison this isn't a good ride and one that I don't know that I'd even want to try to ride again. I gave up on slinging webs 3/4 of the way through as I found it annoying. By far the best part of this ride is the exterior of the building and flying animatronic and you don't even have to wait in line to experience that.
@@brookewells7208 that’s overpriced. Lol The only time I ever bought anything that’s $60 was a jacket maybe a year or two ago. it was for Christmas this fluffy jacket with a Mickey Mouse patch on it. Because I know I will be able to use that sweater every time it’s cold during the winter holidays/season and it will not be thrown in the trash after a few days of wearing it out.
I just wanted this ride to have a villain Because in my opinion thats one of the first things I think of when I hear spiderman I don't think of spider bots And now disney is comparing their spiderman ride to Universals And we all know the better of the two I hope that disney is able to add more story and plot into other marvel rides Besides the fact that you can shoot webs at robots Tell me the difference between this ride and the antman one They both have the exact same story and both are just shooting robots the entire ride
Yep, Triotech designed it which was first used for Ninjago at Legoland back in 2016. It's sad that Disney is 5 years behind friggin Legoland in terms of innovation for this ride.
@@Ataraxia462 yeah they cheaper out and scrapped the original plans for the Spider-Man ride. It was going to be a suspended from a overhead track ride where you’d swing through the city with Spider-Man. But the web slingers ride idea was cheaper so that went with it instead. Too bad because it could have actually been good
While it isn't new Disney has certainly improved light-years upon the other ones currently available. This ride let's you pull, push, and "throw" as well
@@Strange_1907 Well I'd highly recommend going on it before taking everyone's word for it (I was in a similar spot and was quite surprised with how fun the ride was).
I think the public is kind of burnt out on screen rides. We like the ones we have now (soarin, midway mania, flight of passage, star wars, etc) but now it's starting to feel oversaturated and unimaginative.
Rides like this makes me worried about Disney redoing Splash... tired of all these screens in place of physical things. The web shooter thing is cool I guess but this ride should be stand by. I don't get why it's warranted enough to be a BG.
@@TheInflicted for me it always looks very out of place, the faces are really bright in comparison to the rest of the animatronic, it doesn’t look horrible it’s just whenever I look at one I always notice it looks fake.
Thing is Disney needed to deliver a top notch ride that features Marvel’s popular character, especially in light of the still amazing (pun intended) Spider-Man ride at Universal IOA in Orlando, a ride that still delivers despite being over 20 years old now. And what did Disney do for Spidey, deliver a meh Toy Story Mania clone when the character deserves such a better attraction at DCA.
If Disney really wanted a shooting gallery ride, it should’ve been with someone like Iron Man or the likes. Like you said, this Spider-Man ride didn’t just need to be good, it needed to stand toe-to-toe with what Universal have. And a shooting gallery just doesn’t feel very Spider-Man, imo.
Couldn't agree more, I just got back from Disney and this ride disappointed me soooooo much. Especially considering the universal ride is wayyyyy older and still is able to blow this out of the water.
I didn't even realize that the ride was taking you to specific settings at all because of how many other things were happening, so that's kind of disappointing
@@Trader_span actually it's due to Chadwick Boseman's passing. Black Panther is featured in concept art for the attraction and Disney isn't sure how the general public is going to react to the Black Panther franchise going forward without Chadwick Boseman or the character of T'Challa.
@@DeadmanInc336 I assumed massive budget cuts due to having every single Disney Park be closed for months, with DCA/DL being shut down the longest, would cause the massive delay of any phase 2.
@@codyt821 They literally have highly advanced animatronics at both Galaxy's Edge and in Avengers Campus with Rocket. I don't think they're going anywhere.
It's just a big ol mess tbh. While a full Spider-Man animatronic in the pre show would certainly help the ride a lot, there are just too many corners cut and too much laziness to redeem it as a whole. I stare at screens all day, every day. I DO NOT go to Disney just to look at more screens. Plus it's honestly a big middle finger to the guests; Disney thinks they can get away with building cheap, Six-Flags-level-attractions (by doing the absolute minimum for theming and relying on screens to be the "substance" of the entire ride) and still charge ever-increasing Disney prices. That is just unacceptable to me. I mean, you might as well just go see a 3D movie somewhere and you'll get an experience that's 90% the same as what this attraction is without spending thousands of dollars. Disney gotta do better, but I don't have my hopes up.
I also hate wearing glasses in rides... Because I already have to wear them. Meaning if I go to EuroDisney, I have to take enough contact lenses, fake tears etc. Annoying. I wouldn't waste time on this ride though. I already have the Buzz Lightyear one and at least that one doesn't require glasses.
The Spider-Man ride at Universal Isle of Adventure was a mix of 3D screens, real sets, and motion. It was faster and more intense. I def don’t understand why they couldn’t do that when it’s Disney lol
I went to Avengers Campus a few months ago, not long after it opened, and honestly I found it pretty lacking. The land just wasn’t that immersive. I feel like a huge part of Disneyland is drawing you into the world and making you feel like you’re really there, in a place that’s different from Earth. But the since the Marvel movies (mostly) take place on Earth, there wasn’t anywhere interesting for the land to take us. Personally I think it would have been cool if the land was themed around Wakanda, Asgard, or one of the other more overtly fictional settings of the movies. The land would have much more interesting and immersive architecture, instead of looking like a slightly futuristic college campus. I also don’t think the virtual que aspect is helping out web-slingers. Because of the way the system works, it’s almost impossible to get on both Rise of the Resistance and Web-Slingers in the same day, and most people are gonna go with rise, since it’s pretty clearly the superior ride. (The whole virtual que thing is why I haven’t ridden the ride yet, because I wanted to go on rise the day I went) Anyways, that’s just my perspective on the land, but I’m really curious about what other people think about it
Exactly, honestly cars land feels so much better than avengers campus. Also the spider man ride originally was going to be good but they scrapped the original plans for the Spider-Man ride. It was going to be a suspended from a overhead track ride where you’d swing through the city with Spider-Man. But the web slingers ride idea was cheaper so that went with it instead.
@@dayoldbread1696 Oh I 100% agree that Cars Land is better. The design, details, and everything else just feels so immersive. Radiator Springs Racers is also one of my favorite rides, I find it to be fun and interesting every single time. I’ve never heard that there was a different idea for the Spider-Man ride but that sounds so much better than what we ended up with. Unsurprising that Disney went with the inferior, cheaper version. Hopefully Avengers Campus (and California Adventure as a whole tbh) gets a massive overhaul and re-do at some point in the future. It definitely needs it.
@@squid65635 glad you like cars land too : ) . Also yeah people were saying they may expand avengers campus into the Hollywood backlot area. But I’m just hoping the e ticket quinjet ride will at least begin construction soon since they have made no progress on it. And I hope they don’t cheap out on it either
The corporate money-making conglomerate really shines in Avengers Campus. They use an existing ride platform with out any animatronics or set pieces to save on maintenance and labor to operate it and only makes it feel cheap. The rest of the land is a glorified photo op with overpriced drinks and a pretzel that you can purchase for less money just outside the land. As for Guardians, we all know that they had NO clue how AC would turn out and it’s a real eyesore even still with a plot that doesn’t make any sense. WDI really missed the mark here under the gaze of WDC’s worst CEO Bob Cheapek. Strike 2 for money man.
Yeah they scrapped the original plans for the Spider-Man ride. It was going to be a suspended from a overhead track ride where you’d swing through the city with Spider-Man. But the web slingers ride idea was cheaper so that went with it instead. Also we are supposed to get a e ticket quinjet ride but they put it on indefinite hold. So if we get it it probably will be a long time until construction actually starts, and that’s assuming they don’t cheap out on it too like we’ve slingers
These shooting gallery rides are a waste of good imagineering potential. Why would I want to travel to a Disney theme park to play a mediocre video game? I can play better games at home. This ride should have been an attempt to one up Universal’s Spider-Man ride but it comes so short it’s embarrassing.
I have been saying this! They have 2 spiderman mcu villiana that could have “hijacked” the ride car and have it mixed it with rise and the on in universal. And a Spider-Man animatronic would have really been so much better. Make us feel like we are with Spider-Man zipping through New York
@@Wrecktar96 originally the plays were for a suspended on a overhead track swinging ride, that would have let you experience how it’s like to swing through the city with spider man. But they built web slingers instead because it was cheaper. I wish we got the swinging Spider-Man ride instead
@@dayoldbread1696 I totally remember that! When the concept first came out it said that we would be on a pendulum and I was totally bought in. Now it just seems like a waste and universal seems like it has the superior Spider-Man ride
@@Wrecktar96 me too lol I was so hyped but then when I got on and realized we got a completely different and cheap ride I was like wow this is so lame. Here’s hoping the quinjet ride actually gets built and ends up being good
Don't give credit to the imagineers for the shooting tech! An outside company helped with the tracking, and they've existed for a bit! Look at the ninjago shooting ride at legoland. It uses the same hand tracking tech and has been around for a few years now.
@@ThatOneDudeWhoPostsStuff Still means they dont deserve credit tho. Also there was a time of a lot less outsourcing in disney parks. Yknow imagineers used to actually be able to do their job
@@Ryleeman54number2 from what I’ve heard a lot of imagineers left due to Disney trying to force them to move to Florida. And even then the ones that are left aren’t able to make rides to their fullest potential. Why? Because apparently Disney (I believe it tho) is making them build rides on the cheap. Web slingers was originally going to be a swinging through the city with spider man suspended type ride. But since web slingers was cheaper they scrapped those plans. I wish we got the swinging through the city spider man ride instead
There are a lot of missed opportunities with this ride, the biggest being the fact that they didn't incorporate any of the awesome Spider-verse Villains. This easily could have been made better and given higher stakes in the story by having Mysterio reprogram the bots to be aggressive or something. Hopefully it will get some villain boosted improvement in the future.
The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman at Islands of Adventure will always be the better attraction. I know that the Avengers ride is supposed to be the "E-Ticket" attraction, but they did my boy Spidey really dirty on this one.
same deal with the Seven Dwarf Mine Car ride at DisneyWorld. Massive lines and Virtual Cue lines run at fast. We were told by "regulars" that the ride was not worth the long wait and if you can secure a scheduled time to ride it, that would be the best to do since its lackluster at best. "Luckily" we managed to get a spot (I live in New Jersey, so trips to DW are few and far between). They were right - very underwhelming ride and we were not sure why it was so popular.
It was fun to ride it but immediately after riding it I thought "Alright I don't think I need to ride that ever again" lol. I didn't even realize it was a tour around Avenger's Campus because I couldn't see anything but vague shapes (wearing a mask + 3D glasses = foggy 3D glasses...). I still got the highest score in my car of about 250,000 :) I don't like screen rides and I absolutely don't like rides where I have to wear 3D glasses. I hope they will stop giving us this kind of ride, we have so many now it feels like...Star Tours, Smuggler's Run, Toy Story Mania. Soarin' Over the World, and now this Spiderman one too. I don't hate them all, I just prefer rides with animatronics! I don't mind screens if they're used to improve an already good ride like you mentioned - I think the updated Snow White ride and Rise of the Resistance are good examples of how using screens as an addition to animatronics and physical props can work great. I hope the upcoming new rides will not just be screen based!
There's different types of screen rides, though, that actually kick ass. IOA's Spider-Man is one of them. The problem people have with them is that most of them won't integrate with the ride itself, which is why IOA's Spider-Man still works. They still use practical effects in combination with the ride vehicles themselves.

@@stanfordite no you can't. First of all the fact it went through the course proves it's legal. Second of all I studied business law, you can't hold an monopoly on ip as it doesn't physically exist and is infinitely replaceable with new ideas. So not only are ip intangible so don't qualify, they also have no actual value other than what someone is willing to pay. That's fact.
Given the idea of Web Slingers being a tour of Avengers Campus, it would've been cool if it had been an outdoor PeopleMover style attraction and then when it enters a building, you get the corresponding shooting gallery. I don't know if that's feasible or if the average guest would care enough to justify it, but I think it would have been a cool way to make you feel like you really were going all over the land fighting the Spider Bots.
Yup it could have been so much better but they scrapped the original plans for the Spider-Man ride. It was going to be a suspended from a overhead track ride where you’d swing through the city with Spider-Man. But the web slingers ride idea was cheaper so that went with it instead.
This is the same issue I have with the HP Gringott's ride over the Hogwarts ride. All screens vs screens mixed with practical. All of this screen based stuff, while I am sure is cheaper to produce and maintain, can also be dull as dishwater.
Totally agree, the queue for gringotts is way more entertaining than the ride itself. Luckily the forbidden Journey ride in Hogwarts did it right imo, screens mixed with live props and animatronics. That ride blew me away
I actually love Gringott's. I feel I'm living in the middle of the movies. Something so cartoonish like this though, in no way makes me feel immersed in the world of Spidey or Avengers
I think the arcade shooter ride can be good if done correctly, Mario Kart Bowser's challenge has the benefit of using a bunch of physical sets mixed with augmented reality and a better track system
I don’t think it’s fair to say there is no animatronics when there is a Spider-Man animatronic doing flips over the building, ands whole store of robot spiders. If you think about it, you can take home your own ride animatronic! Also, the Easter eggs in the queue are incredible. Like you said, I hope there is plenty to discover about the ride that we just haven’t yet. Anyway, I can’t wait for the E ticket attraction!
The quinjet is going too be a simulation ride ughh. It should of been a roller coaster instead . You should see how much space is wasted behind it. It's parking lot for maintenance. Disgusting
Hopefully it will combine screen simulations with physical sets & audio-animatronics like Rise of the Resistance & Forbidden Journey...🤞 Keeping my fingers crossed...
I was at D23 in 2019 when they announced this ride and land. Lets just say when they said it was going to be a shooter; nobody clapped. I did not understand out of everything they chose another shooting ride instead of something similar to the spider-man ride at islands of adventure. But, I'm hoping the E Ticket attraction that is supposed to be built will be great.
I just got back from a Disney vacation last week, and this ride above all else was my biggest letdown. You know it's a fail when. The Universal ride, that's been around since the 90s is still able to blow this out of the water. Oh well at least we have the Universal one still. I'm hoping Disney learns from this and maybe reconsiders how they're implementing these screens. And I swear if this is a sign that animatronics are going the way of the dodo....idk if I can handle that 😭 if I wanted a ride like this I can just put on my Oculus VR, God I was so dissapointed 😂😭
Same! I remember Being hyped for it but when I got on the whole ride barely lasted 2 minutes and it was boring. Felt like a six flags ride. Not to mention you can buy attachments to shoot faster or shoot 3 webs at once and earn more points
Its a total mess...outdated looking intro movie...bland boring excuse for targets...and 4 screens? between plain and boring tunnels...WAY to short Yeah its a one and done for me...will NEVER waste my time with that "ride" ever again...unless its a walk on...and even then its highly questionable if I would waste my time... The shooting , I will have to give it that...is pretty accurate...even if it makes you look like an idiot...So I was just testing different shots and they all went about exactly where I was aiming...for the VERY short time we DID get to shoot anything...
I couldn't agree more with your take on the 3D glasses. I understand technology has come a long way and screens are going to be implemented more and more so that I can deal with. But the glasses absolutely make the experience blurry and pulls you out of the immersion.
I think they should’ve done something similar to that justice league ride at six flags, where it’s the avengers recruiting agents to fight villains and maybe they give you attachments with different power sets like Wanda’s magic, Iron Man’s blasters, or Captain Marvel’s powers. I just think a Spider-Man ride should be more of a thrill ride considering his abilities. Like maybe a ride with a mix of the guardians of the galaxy ride, rise of the resistance and Incredibles coaster where you have different ride elements but a story in between.
We were actually supposed to get a better spider man ride but they scrapped the original plans for the Spider-Man ride. It was going to be a suspended from a overhead track ride where you’d swing through the city with Spider-Man. But the web slingers ride idea was cheaper so that went with it instead. Here’s hoping they finally start construction on the e ticket quinjet ride
I went to DLR last Tuesday and got a chance to walk around the campus. I think they should have waited for the QuintJet ride to officially open the ride.
i bought the iron man attachment and it kind of worked? i didn’t really understand how to track which web was mine bc of it. HOWEVER i am a teenage nerd and i wore it around for hours in BOTH parks and walked around with it on and playing w the sounds bc it’s fun (i don’t regret buying it even if it wasn’t great in the ride)
It was really fun and my family and I aren’t huge marvel fans but I thought it was going to be so much more when we saw the swinging ride system Disney was working on
The only point of moving from room to room, is so they can call it a ride. At least Toy Story Mania, the vehicles spin. In Toy Story Mania there is only one other person sitting next to you, keeping the screen basically to yourself. Yet in Spiderman, the four colors of webs strands all on screen at the same time is a confusing mess. ---
I think that because we already have a spiderman ride that is great (in island of adventure) the expectation for Disney to make an even better more immersive ride was very high. Unfortunately it disappointed me.
I love Spiderman (and Tom Holland), he's my favorite MCU character, but doesn't his acting in the pre-show seem.... odd? I think Tom's a good actor, but this didn't feel like the Peter from the MCU films imo. It gave me awkward vibes similar to the Flight of Passage pre-show guy, with less "uh uh uh" moments.
I love Disney but this was beyond disappointing. Spiderman is my favorite character of all time, and the biggest marvel character. And they gave him a boring kids ride. Literally going on a vacation just for Florida's REAL Spider-man ride
Been there, its a glorified shooting range not worth the giant lines. Wait in line for a ride more worthwhile. Id rather wait in line for 2 good rides than an hour for this. At least wait until everybody gets over this.
It's really fun if you're not an old pooppy head, lol but don't let people tell you not to ride it because they didn't like it. This old man thought it was a blast and so did the kid's
@@Meg_Lovegood Pretty young lmao, just not the right audience for it. Could be cause im getting tired of superheroes. I also only really like rides if they are thrilling, or have a deep history if they're slow. But don't really see novelty in one that is slow, new, and mostly screens. Maybe because video games kind of eliminate whatever would make it so unique. And not a fan of the Holland Spiderman, yeah im just not the target audience. Im sure young kids who aren't tired of the MCU would love it, got a brother who would. But when you sacrifice going to another ride like Pirates or Space Mountain for it, could get you a bit sour.
The main thing I'm seeing from negative reception from fans seems to expect an immersive dark ride. You know it's a shooting gallery, why wouldn't you expect a shooting gallery? Lol. If it's not your thing then don't expect to be thrilled. Some people do like this type of ride.
@@TECfan1 Circumstances made it happen, if it was up to me I never wouldve went to the campus (only for the tower maybe) and went into this with others not knowing about it. Long story, everythings a preference i'm not trying to be matter-of-fact about it.
When will Disney learn? Enough with the projection screens; people want practical sets and quality animatronics! I'm glad that the competing theme parks are giving them a run for their money. Mind you I'm saying this as a huge Disney lover.
Question is... why have this ride require virtual queue? Wouldn't it make sense to have the Quinjet ride be the virtual queue one if that's meant to be more ambitious than the Spider-Man ride? I understand it's technically the second Avengers ride in the area but that'd be like if Disney said Star Tours was a Galaxy's Edge ride because it's a slight walk away from the land and saying the Falcon ride is the second ride, giving that a virtual queue, then either: A. Opening Rise with a regular queue B. Opening Rise with a virtual queue (VQ) but removing the VQ from the Falcon C. Opening Rise with a VQ and keeping VQ the Flaon ride on the Falcon so both rides require reservations Like, what does Disney do with the VQ system on the Spider-Man ride once they open the Quinjet ride? Do they remove it from the Spider-Man ride? Do they keep it on the Spider-Man ride? Does the Quinjet ride even HAVE a VQ?
Don't give Me wrong Dallin, Iam a Fan of Marvel, But I can't understand why Disney would have an Attraction that doesn't Relate to The Legacy of Walt Disney I Believe that Stan Lee had a Legacy that should have been left alone! @@Taydar More screens and yet still more animatronics and in person sets. It’s superior by far and holds up even tho it’s 20 years old. This one was all set up to be mind blowing and “gravity defying” and it’s Midway Mania mixed with Ninjago. Not bad on it’s own but not even close to its media presentation nor does it hold any weight in comparison to the old, arguably more “gravity-defying” Spider-Man ride already in existence.
@@Taydar having just ridden both of them recently, I promise you the Universal one is so much better, even being 20 years old. The new one is ALL screens, the universal one has a healthy mix of practical sets that only use screens to enhance the experience. There's a Reason why the Universal one is always on Top ten theme park attractions lists. I would really reccomended looking at the Expedition Theme park video on it, they go very in depth on the way it was built, the awards it has won, and why it still holds up today. Either way I don't see any reason to be so mean and hostile about a theme park ride?? Why is it a lot of times the adults end up being the ones who act like children? C'mon man be a little nicer. I know it's easy to be rude on the internet but it's never a good look.
It's a very middle of the road. Although the ride vehicle is cool and Tom Holland is BAE, 3D glasses are a pain. It does bother peoples eyes especially those who have an astigmatism or who have to wear glasses in general. In the end it's better than nothing and those accessories and the spider bot are super cool. Really enjoy the content and love Foolish Mortals. So happy yall are back.
I went yesterday and I did enjoy webslingers. Definitely doesn't have the same effect as Rise of the Resistance, but it's a fun ride to enjoy with a group of people. I do agree that it is a lot happening and I had no idea what was happening, I was just trying to shoot all the spider bots, but I would definitely love to ride it again. Hopefully once everything is open in Avenger's campus, Webslingers will stop using a virtual queue because I would put it on par as Midway Mania...fun, but not an A1 must go attraction like Mission Breakout
Probably would have been better as a physical/screen based attraction, similar to Rise of the Resistance. I feel like Disney is abandoning the things that made them great and settling for cheaper rides using off the shelf technology.
Idk, I’m mixed on it. Not every ride in the park needs to be an intensely immersive, E-ticket level thing. I don’t like that the parks are slowly morphing into the choice of Galaxy’s Edge or baby rides, but that’s a very specific nitpick I won’t die on a hill for. More importantly, I don’t like that it’s another shooting gallery ride because with Toy Story it’s cute, it works, the cheapness of some black light stuff in between screens you stop by makes sense with the theme. If I’m on a Spider-Man ride I want to feel like I’m in a big, open environment. Honestly if they’re gonna copy a style they should take Flight of Passage and make it so you’re flying through New York or the campus with Spidey. Idk.
How sad is it that Six Flags Magic Mountain added an interactive dark ride before Spiderman Web Slinger that has more Animatronics than a NEW Disney Ride?
I'm okay with less thrill ride since not everyone is brave enough for a freefall or rollercoaster, I took this ride as the Toontown/Fantasyland part of this Marvel land. But this doesn't mean you should use bunch of screens theough. The only pros I can think of for this ride is they are all screens so it can be easily rethemed into other IP or updated with future Marvel movie scene.
I was lucky enough to get to ride this during the cast member preview of the land the week before it opened, so the line wasn't super long, maybe about 25-30 minutes? I loved all the easter eggs that were in the queue, from the different designs on the lockers for the interns to the old-fashioned Stark Industries logo on the brick wall in the ride loading area. Unfortunately, I had way more of a reaction to those physical set pieces in the queue than anything on the ride itself. Like you said, there's just too much happening on the screens sometimes to even know what you're aiming at, and having three other people in the vehicle with me meant that I literally had no idea who was shooting what half the time. It felt like there was just constant chaos and no real way to tell what you were doing. I agree that the closest thing to compare this ride to is Toy Story Mania, but I genuinely prefer that ride to Web Slingers. At least on Toy Story, you have a physical object to point and aim, and you can clearly see the point value of any target that you want to shoot at. I understand that it wouldn't make sense within the story of Web Slingers to have every object onscreen labeled with a point value, but it really did just make the scores feel a lot more arbitrary. While the tracking technology for these ride vehicles is impressive, I can't say that it improved the ride experience. Honestly, it just kinda made my arms hurt after 5 minutes of violently flinging them towards whatever part of the screen seemed to have the most targets. Overall, I'm disappointed that they opened Avengers Campus without the E-ticket attraction, because I don't think this ride was enough to warrant the hype of a brand new land.
"Why are both shooting gallery rides toy story themed?" oh. my. god. i never noticed
apparently this ride's basically the same as this lego ninjago one in legoland that was around since 2016...like same tech and everything
The graphics on the screens of Spiderman's attraction remind me of the collector's laboratory in Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Break Out.
12:21 oh look she drop her Phone
It looks like Ninjago at Legoland, but you make it sound like it has some upgrades.
Diseny has gotten screen happy. They've even stuck them in the old rides in Fantasyland. I would have prefered a simple old school dark ride to this.
Yeah the screen overload needs to stop. Nothing is ever going to best practical sets and animatronics in my book
What's wrong with that?
It’s funny watching them fall into the same hole Universal has been struggling to dig itself out of the past couple years. You think Disney would have learned from the competitions mistakes and yet Universal has learned and improved in immersive theming while Disney gives in to just using screens all the time.
Which rides have screens in fantasyland?
@@thomasayon5684 Alice in Wonderland and Snow White now
I HATE this ride. I also hate Toy Story Mania which is very similar to the Web Slingers ride. Aside from the motion tracking censors, it’s very unimaginative. It should be Spider-Man taking down criminals and villains with some animatronics.
Yep they're totally going to listen to the small loud minority that constantly cries about everything and totally ignore the fact that the ride is massively popular with the majority.
not sure if its even possible to have animatronic battles with spidey and villains, even the incredible spidey ride at universal has zero animatronics in it
Jesus Christ Spiderman is very famous for his villains and this ride has none of them
Should’ve featured a villain like Vulture, Mysterio, or even Thanos...
Would’ve made it much more exciting...
I am so excited for the Quinnjet ride!!! I hope it’s more like Rise of the Resistance than Smuggler’s Run
Having only seen the ridealong videos I was surprised how short the ride was...
I can see this appealing to the age 6-12 crowd, but it really is just a big budget carnival ride that's probably going to age quickly.
Maybe they could use AR hologram glasses to shoot webs on physical sets.

What’s the deal with “points” in rides?!? Is this Chuck E. Cheese??
Speaking as someone who wears glasses to; you know, see; having to fit the 3d glasses OVER my own is a pain in the you know what.
11:11 Is it doing Morse Code for SOS?

$60?! Did I hear that right or is that an exaggeration?!
Unfortunately you heard him right.
@@ThePiplum That's the reaction everyone had when it got announced! It's a cool toy for children but to advertise it as a ride add-on is just... No.
I just wanted this ride to have a villain
Because in my opinion thats one of the first things I think of when I hear spiderman
I don't think of spider bots
And now disney is comparing their spiderman ride to Universals
And we all know the better of the two
I hope that disney is able to add more story and plot into other marvel rides
Besides the fact that you can shoot webs at robots
Tell me the difference between this ride and the antman one
They both have the exact same story and both are just shooting robots the entire ride
They do have a villain, the biggest villain Spider-Man has ever ran into: Disney.
I agree. This would’ve been better & more exciting if it had included a villain: Vulture, Mysterio, or Thanos...
the motion-sensing technology on this ride wasn't designed by imagineers, it was outsourced
The Transformers ride is actually wayyyyyy better, and that's saying something. Just rode them both recently.

I think the public is kind of burnt out on screen rides. We like the ones we have now (soarin, midway mania, flight of passage, star wars, etc) but now it's starting to feel oversaturated and unimaginative.
The problem with this ride is Universal did it better, in 1999...
The physical spider-bots being completely stationary is SUCH a bummer. How hard would it have been to have their legs quiver?
Rides like this makes me worried about Disney redoing Splash... tired of all these screens in place of physical things. The web shooter thing is cool I guess but this ride should be stand by. I don't get why it's warranted enough to be a BG.
Same, I really really hope the new Splash Mountain is animatronic based not screen based.
Worst case scenario we get animatronics with screen faces
Nah they’ll have to do Splash right. So many eyes watching that project, they cannot fuck it up.
@@JohnS-ki2zf I don't get the hate for the screen faces. Most of them look great.
Disney ride looks tacky and lame.
Couldn't agree more, I just got back from Disney and this ride disappointed me soooooo much. Especially considering the universal ride is wayyyyy older and still is able to blow this out of the water.

@@TECfan1 You're missing my point but ok.
How about It’s a Small World? They aren’t animatronics per say, but every other box is checked!
Let's face it....Universal beat them to the punch with a Spiderman ride YEARS ago.
Finally a ride that Universal did better! 😂
I’m with you on screens and 3D glasses. And 3D glasses are a pain for those of us who already wear glasses.
AMEN
Flight of Passage had lots of blurry spots for me and I think it's because my glasses make the 3D glasses sit too far from my eyes.
You can play something like that at a arcade

After talking to a few CM friends of mine, they have a good point. It's a people eater without a height requirement, and DCA absolutely needed that.
Haven't been there yet but the spider bots really look like the Cybugs from Wreck-It-Ralph! Just my opinion.
Don't give credit to the imagineers for the shooting tech! An outside company helped with the tracking, and they've existed for a bit! Look at the ninjago shooting ride at legoland. It uses the same hand tracking tech and has been around for a few years now.
Ah, so you've learned about outsourcing. The thing literally every company does. Also the Ninjago ride's hand tracking is freaking awful.

They were right - very underwhelming ride and we were not sure why it was so popular.
and yet 3 years later we still don't have the avengers e ticket

Totally agree, the queue for gringotts is way more entertaining than the ride itself. Luckily the forbidden Journey ride in Hogwarts did it right imo, screens mixed with live props and animatronics. That ride blew me away

I think the glasses in Flight of Passage are supposed to be blurry at the corners because your meant to be looking through an avatars eyes.
I still think Space Ranger Spin/Astro Blasters is the best shooting gallery ride (and one of the best rides in general)
Heck yeah, that ride is awesome!
What about Universal's Men in Black Alien Attack?
I agree with the glasses. They always look blurry to me know matter what except for Flight of Passage

Its a total mess...outdated looking intro movie...bland boring excuse for targets...and 4 screens? between plain and boring tunnels...WAY to short
Yeah its a one and done for me...will NEVER waste my time with that "ride" ever again...unless its a walk on...and even then its highly questionable if I would waste my time...
I think a big part of it has to do with the narration & the script

Circumstances made it happen, if it was up to me I never wouldve went to the campus (only for the tower maybe) and went into this with others not knowing about it. Long story, everythings a preference i'm not trying to be matter-of-fact about it.
@@hypocriticalsatire3966 oh... So that "I'm not old but young" stage, tell your mum I said I feel for her.
I understand it's technically the second Avengers ride in the area but that'd be like if Disney said Star Tours was a Galaxy's Edge ride because it's a slight walk away from the land and saying the Falcon ride is the second ride, giving that a virtual queue, then either:
A. Opening Rise with a regular queue
B. Opening Rise with a virtual queue (VQ) but removing the VQ from the Falcon
C. Opening Rise with a VQ and keeping VQ the Flaon ride on the Falcon so both rides require reservations
Like, what does Disney do with the VQ system on the Spider-Man ride once they open the Quinjet ride? Do they remove it from the Spider-Man ride? Do they keep it on the Spider-Man ride? Does the Quinjet ride even HAVE a VQ?
Don't give Me wrong Dallin, Iam a Fan of Marvel, But I can't understand why Disney would have an Attraction that doesn't Relate to The Legacy of Walt Disney I Believe that Stan Lee had a Legacy that should have been left alone! Don't get why all of this is there just like Star Wars Galaxie at Disneyland yes they look like Fun Attractions but doesn't make sense to mix it with Disney, thanks for sharing this with us
I HATE the voice in the ride. I keep expecting her to say "HI! I'm Tour Guide Barbie."
Llssujsueueue: fun fact that’s the tag for the first Lewis animatronic in tianas bayou adventure
Universals island of adventures has the better Spider-Man ride
A million times better. The part where you float above all the skyscrapers still blows my mind to this day. At least we still have that one
I dunno, man. I found it very cheesy and outdated.
@@Taydar you shoving your opinion in other peoples faces doesn’t make it look anymore appealing, just shows how immature you are
@@Taydar having just ridden both of them recently, I promise you the Universal one is so much better, even being 20 years old.
Just to say luck was in my side for web slingers I got boarding group 13
I went yesterday and I did enjoy webslingers. Definitely doesn't have the same effect as Rise of the Resistance, but it's a fun ride to enjoy with a group of people. I do agree that it is a lot happening and I had no idea what was happening, I was just trying to shoot all the spider bots, but I would definitely love to ride it again. Hopefully once everything is open in Avenger's campus, Webslingers will stop using a virtual queue because I would put it on par as Midway Mania...fun, but not an A1 must go attraction like Mission Breakout
I agree with the glasses problem and it’s even worse for people who have to wear real glasses
Probably would have been better as a physical/screen based attraction, similar to Rise of the Resistance. I feel like Disney is abandoning the things that made them great and settling for cheaper rides using off the shelf technology.
I don't love Spidey, except for into the spiderverse, but I am desperate for a spiderbot. I really want that creepy cute boy.
Idk.
My advice, don’t go until disney stops being cheap and stops cutting on quality. Once the Quinn jet ride is open, the it will be worth it
How sad is it that Six Flags Magic Mountain added an interactive dark ride before Spiderman Web Slinger that has more Animatronics than a NEW Disney Ride?
Very good video Dallin thanks for the helpful insight 😄
