I assume the kong with glasses is funky kong because in the original dkc games he acts as a fast travel, taking us to different levels in his vehicle
The hair color is vastly different, and Funky as always been depicted with a bandana on his head. I call this one Bouncer Kong
I look at the fur and call him super kong; he does a level for you if you die a certain number of times in DKC Returns (it makes sense here because he's taking them to the temple instead of them going there themselves)

Considering Mario survived, blunt trauma in a pipe, peach's obstacles course, and a LITERAL GORILLA ATTACK without so much as a scratch on him. And the one death we did see was bowser roasting a Koopa into a drybones, I am inclined to think that he's ok.

I didn't even realize that was Swanky, though to be fair I'm not familiar with the DK series in general and only know about him from smash.
You're missing out A LOT, then. If you have a Switch, you can play the first two Donkey Kong arcades, then the Country Trilogy. The DK Land games should be available in the future. Then, the Retro Revival series from last decade. Those are quality DK games.
DK64 is somewhat polarizing despite having its fun moments, and the quality of the series was shaky in the 2000s after Nintendo made the GRAVE mistake of giving Rare away to Microsoft. Literally, Mario sold them to Master Chief Lol......😢
