The Fault Finding Mind | Ajahn Brahm | 7 May 2021

  • Often we find faults in our life, partners and ourselves and overlook the good parts. Ajahn Brahm offers a new perspective; which is to see what we think are bad parts as opportunities to learn and grow. Ajahn encourages us to love ourselves (faults and all) and to develop a joy finding mind (a mind that sees the positives, rather than the faults).

    it is really nice to listen to Ajahn Brahm's talk, reminds me to not fault finding, it has changed my life since 5 years ago. My last bosses were always fault finding, I finally got fredup with them, i quit. And since then, I find myself happier, that life isn't just work, there are many things in life to be appreciated.

    I always get so down on myself when I make a mistake and hate myself so much. It's a shame the society i live in really emphasises the need to be "perfect." Thanks for helping me see its ok that i'm not perfect. Why do people have to make us feel so bad for making a mistake or not meeting these impossible standards. 😥

    Was having a hard time walking the last two days because of a tweaked muscle in my foot. I was really concerned because I have to on my feet a lot in my job and my anxiety was going through the roof. After listening to this, I went for a walk to try out my foot again and it was okay. I was so focused on making my foot worse that any tiny pain gave me anxiety so I would stop. After seeing this video, I walked for 15 minutes and my foot was fine - only miniscule pain. I was focusing far too much on the negative instead of really trying it and it truly is fine. This video really helped. Thank you.

      Do you think that there is a difference between accidentally shitting on a floor and falsely accusing someone to the point where they attempt suicide?
      And not having any remorse for slandering them?
      Who's fault would that be, the one who tried to kill themselves?

    • @MysticFiddler1
      @MysticFiddler1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@richgarcia9254 The slandered one could review the situation and notice that the accuser was not using right speech in the eightfold path, therefore was not very developed. And yes, there is a big difference in your example.

    Ajan Brahm I so admire that monks aren't touched. As we are the same age, I have children and grandchildren. After we all got a stomach virus I am hearing it's not the kids fault, it's contagious. The first line of defense is hand washing. Wellness cannot be had through blame.
    Just practicing what to say. 😷

      Hmmm ... that was exactly my first thought I had. But you know what? It's probably more important to him to be able to travel/fly to other countries to continue giving talks. And he is probably in a state of fearlessness, so nothing can limit him, if you know what I mean.
