I got so angry at my friend one evening that I became hot with rage and hatred towards him. After a few hours I was still caught, still a prisoner of my anger that I could not even look him in the eye. Chanting and meditating helped me to put a crack in my prison to let some light in. When that happened, I was calm enough to pull up one of Brahm's videos -- this one. After 10 or 15 minutes of listening, my mental prison toppled over and I felt this soothing peace come over me. I then walked over to my friend and humbly said I was sorry. Thank you so much Ajahn.

There are so few comments on this video, because we feel so good after the talk, there's just nothing that needs to be said. 🦋🦋🦋

"people who get angry are usually angry at themselves. Try not to be angry with yourself." someone once said that being angry is like wanting to kill someone else but drinking the poison yourself. I think periodic anger is healthy because it helps signal that something is wrong...but when we cycle on anger and get caught up in getting people back or "revenge", we really are hurting ourselves. so grateful for this message. thank you.

    1. Meditate...
Analogy of beautiful house but untidy heart...
    2.Lower the expectations...
3.hard work = i can get to do good karma
4.sit infront of clock and check how long u continue to get angry
    5. Watch it like it is movie
    6. Write on one side u hate and another side u like abt the person and throw the hate paper..when u are angry u can only see hateful thing not likeable things..see the other side.
    7. People who are mostly angry at others are usually angry at themself. Forgive them. Forgive the tree because its crooked..forgive the people bec there is beauty also in them just like the crooked damaged tree.
    8. some thing are not in our hand like delayed flight, traffic, pandemic.

I attract angry people, strangers using the same road as me, partners, bosses, even my parents when I was small, and teachers. Now I realise it's about their expectations of me, it's THEIR problem, not mine.

I listened to all the talks for months, I really believe all of what he say, but,I find it hard to practice. A"friend" borrowed all my life saving,,four years ago, and I am still waiting to get it back. I think I shall "let it go" and forget about it, but still think about it every nights, and get sometime very very angry. What could I do?

I love you teacher. You've helped me with my anger, which I thought was everlasting. May you be healthy and stay for a long in this life to help us. Namaste.
Please don't "talk it out" as suggested by an attendee; this person didn't know what he's talking about. Not a universal solution.

Is there a way so I can contribute with Portuguese subs for the talks? We have a Theravada Buddhist comunity in Brazil, and I think that thus the Dhamma would reach more people.

To force something is not the middle way or skilful as willpower can have a lot of self and attachments in it. The meditation if forced can become a battle which can cause stress etc. When we sit my teacher says"Let it in, Let it be, Let it go. So let thoughts arise and don't judge. (easier said than done haha). I am having difficulty with the 5th precept as i haven't had a beer for 8 months but i try to notice my mind and thoughts when i want to drink and how they try to pull me around.

Anger is dealing with Fed Ex, a big bank, cold-caller, tail-gater and barking dogs.

  • @lottewonder
    @lottewonder 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    its very simple :
you become, what you fight against,.....
so fighting seems to be the very wrong thing to do,....
water dosent get angry,..it just floats around whats in its way :-)
the water is the female aspect, and the drift of the water is the male aspect,...
the water is the male aspect, cause of its power, the drift is the female aspect,..
    balance is the ultimate key,....

It's okay to yell at computers. Really, it is. Dealing with 30 years of accumulated software screw ups and complexity is maddening. Someones got to to do it. Give us a pass.

I wish he spoke about anger with loved ones, not angry with silly things. I’ve watched many of his lectures and he focuses on silly things that I don’t need help with.
