    Listen Lad.. You're So Critical Of Yourself.. You Are Kind Of Robbing The Enjoyment Of Just Riding.. You Never Really Pat Yourself On The Back For The Feature/Section Or Trail You've Conquered Like You Used In Your First Videos.. The Bits You Find Difficult Or Have To Walk etc.. Just Let That Go Out Your Mind.. You Even Say It In This Video.. You Don't Know Me Or I Don't Know You Personally.. But You've Said That You've Lost Your Mum Recently.. Maybe Grief Is Playing A Massive Part In Your Lost Motivation.. I Maybe Wrong.. But I Am Just Speaking From My Own Experience.. Keep Riding Lad.. You'll Get There.. Respect 🙏🏼

    Dont put yourself down. I went to the top of a short section yesterday. To show my kids a fun challenge for when they are ready. I looked at it and said. Sorry boys, i cant ride this today. I just didnt think my skills were sharp enough. Im getting more pleasure than ever riding the reds. Often overlooking the blacks that use to travel so far for. We're here for a good time

    There may be a few fundamentals missing here. For me I would not be riding if I didn't go out with my pals and have the best laughs all day. The encouragement from them is outstanding.
    Getting inside your own head whilst riding, if I try and speak to my self when riding I'm off 😂
    Good brakes were a must have!
    Electric bike massively helped me. You can do 3 times as many trail and it helps so much with progression.
    I feel you aren't having as much fun now which I believe solo riding is the issue!
    Hope you keep pushing forward.

    Mate…. I’m 51 and have only been riding a couple of years. I just ride what I can and enjoy. If I can’t do something I get off and walk around it and get back on at a section I can do. You seem to be putting yourself under so much pressure. I’m improving over time but I am in no rush…. Just enjoy what you can do, the rest will follow im sure. Please stop putting yourself down mate. Be proud of what you can do and what you have achieved so far. 👊🏻. Also do you realise you inspire others including me.

Keep your gloves on and your chin up. Sorry to hear about the loss of your Mum. I avoid steep shit like that because I am 18 stone and gravity always wins and inevitably sends me into a tree 😂I don't see the point of doing ridiculous steep trails and now enjoy cross country adventures more. You ABSOLUTELY SHOULD put stuff like this on TH-cam so that you can look back in a few months and see how far you have come! I know it's difficult not to be critical of your own riding, I've been the same recently about my trail speed, and having a few crashes recently. Thankfully others have made me realise the progression I've made and it's hit home a bit. Hopefully this and other comments here, will help you not be so critical of yourself and make you realise that you don't have to match up to anyone else's riding capabilities. Just do you pal. Keep at it mate and it will just 'click' when you lean into turns. Remember too, you can go too slow in the wet, odd I know, but you can. ✌🏻

  • @tanget1337
    @tanget1337 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    TH-cam is an amazing resource for our hobbies, but it can also be a bit of a curse as well. Watching people who ride 10x more than we normal folk (often for a living) shred horribly difficult trails like they're nothing, whilst pushing themselves to go bigger, steeper, faster all the time, creates a huge amount of self inflicted pressure for the rest of us. We all inherit this attitude that we're not "proper" mountain bikers unless we're constantly riding out of our comfort zone, always just beyond the edge of what we feel capable of, because if we're not pushing ourselves to get "better" we're not doing it right - it's got to be terrifying steep, slippy, techy, if you can roll all the features, it's not "proper" mtb etc.
    But here's the thing: the reason we should be doing this is to make us feel good. None of that other shit matters. There's nothing wrong with wanting to improve, but if that translates to forcing yourself to always ride lines you don't enjoy, to come away from every ride feeling like you've let yourself down because you haven't cleaned some horrifically steep, horribly dangerous run, then you gotta change something before you squeeze all the joy out of doing it.
    There are lots of ways to define progress - it doesn't always have to equate to taking more risk. You gotta give yourself permission to enjoy ripping down a trail you find easy or comfortable. That's MTB too! There are ways to get better on the bike that don't involve riding down a veritical incline into a blind hairpin corner with a cliff off the edge of it. This is just my personal experience, but i've had a lot of fun teaching myself to wheelie, endo turn, bunny hop, jump, track stand. Mastering these will give you WAY more confidence on the bike, and it will give you smaller, achievable goals to work towards that don't require you to scare yourself shitless. And you can use things like Strava to measure your speed on easier trails. I'm happy to admit i often have a lot more fun ripping down Hope line at Gisburn than crawling down the super steep off piste stuff at my local.
    I remember watching a video on GMBN years ago with Blake, where he argued that the most fun trails you can ride are blues. You can just relax and have fun. You can rip. You can find features to jib around on, turn rollers into jumps. You can just enjoy yourself without constant fear of injury. Rather than push yourself to ride scary off piste stuff when you go out, you should have a month of ONLY riding stuff you're comfortable on - rediscover the joy, brother!
    Peace and happy trails. 🙏

      @DownhillDesireMTB  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      you are so right! i always tend to have a blast on the blues and reds, up here in Northumberland we don't have many proper graded trails though, if you want to ride local it's natural stuff. i always have ups and downs with my riding, this was a down lol, i've since been out with some friends and had a blast!! i wasn't gonna post this vid, but i made a promise to myself and my viewers to post my whole "journey" to learning mtb. so thought it's gotta be shown haha. anywhoo my mojo is currently restored and i'm looking forward to my nest ride!! thanks chap

    First video I have seen of yours. Really enjoyed your honesty/transparency and watching you tackle that steep section the second time round was impressive. Some of the off piste “enduro” trails now are very demanding and its easy to be critical of yourself when you have to get off and push a few sections but as you showed in this video it is rewarding when you manage to ride the same section the next time round. I am in a similar position to you where I don’t get out on the bike nearly as much as I would like to so when the local trails are as humbling as your ones seem to be it can be a bit tough but getting out in the woods on the bike is always better than sitting around watching other people do it on youtube which is what I am doing right now haha.

    You are on the right track mate. Your fitness programme will help. Your riding has progressed a lot mate. I totally relate to how you're feeling, been through it myself. I've found almost a sense of dread about going out at times. For me steep techy trails are the trails I want to learn how to do because I find them very difficult but they are challenging and can be scary but the sense of satisfaction if i do them is amazing but the frustration and disappointment in my abilities when I can't do them is massive. I've found that just going for a bike ride not trails and no cameras , no videos, can help if I get worked up about doing trails. That way there's no pressure but at least I'm out on my bike. Also just doing some sessioning rather than full trails can help. Love your honesty mate, keep at it, you'll get your mojo back.🤙🤙🤙😃

I know your trying to get e powered but for now get some wider bars for cheap upgrade at least 780mm will help with control too. Don't!!!!! Give in and absolutely no pressure from anyone exterior we all just want you to have fun like we do, inners will be fine as I know you can ride caddon bank and we can find others that are in your wheelhouse. You also rode great with Barry and me last time out ❤🤙

    I dont like Off-piste either. But spent a year trying it. Stop trying to force yourself. I'm a trail rider, I like techy rocky decents, not muddy shoots. Thats what I like so stick with it. Stop forcing yourself to like things you dont actuially want to do. You'll end up hating biking. And stop being your own critic. Why dont you book bike park wales and discover which sort of trail you actually like. There are loads to choose from. Begginer to expert. We're not all the same, that's what makes it all interesting.
