I bought a bottle of Remus Reserve Repeal (release II) today here in Montana. Spendy at $100!! I personally find it disappointing, at least to my palate, especially after liking the George Remus so much. I suppose the 10/11-year age shows in the profile, but it’s nothing special. So far it feels like a waste of money for the price but maybe the bottle will open up a bit. I feel like I should’ve just bought the Blanton’s that the store had just received (and were selling for $68). Oh well...

As it is right now, my Old Forester Signature bottle at 100 proof (for $28), is blowing the socks off of the Remus Repeal Reserve. I'm a fan of high rye bourbon (rye in general). My go-to cocktail whiskey is Rittenhouse which I can reliably get for ~$22-24. I wouldn't spend more than $30 for something that will end up in a cocktail, and aim to spend a fair bit less to maximize quality per dollar. Yeah, I /could/ sip on it, but I've got plenty of bottles to choose from that are better to sip on. There's a lot of competition in the $30-40 price point, and certainly at the $80. How does the Remus bourbon compare to 4R SiB? Heck, Bulleit? The Remus Repeal sounds interesting for what you get for the money, however. Sounds like it can hold its own against limited editions/allocations.
The Remus Bourbon I would take over the Bulliet...As far as four roses....thats a good question...both high rye...I would probably lean towards the FR SB. But when they are hard to find the Remus is a damn good alternative. The Repeal can definitely hold its own.
Good whisky is good whisky. I don't care where it comes from. All i really wish we had in the whisky world is transparency. Give me an aged statement. 3, 5, 8, 12, whatever there's great young and old whisky. And tell us if color or chill filtration is used.

T e r r o i r is of course a big deal for a lot of people. Not only where the grain is sourced from, but also in terms of where it's distilled. Part of the craft of craft.
There's one (only 1) bottle of Repeal reserve in a store near me but with a markup. The price is $129.95 instead of $85 or $90. Is it still worth it? Let me know!
Such a great video.. I was looking at the MGP website and realized I have a real connection. I was born in 1957 in Evansville Indiana just across the river from Louisville. I lived in Kansas most of my life and still own a home not too far from Atchison where MGP is headquartered. No wonder I like bourbon and rye I love this video and then seeing their products on their website. I was going to come back to Kansas this spring but the covid virus made me choose stay here in Cambodia with my beautiful wife or go back to my house in Kansas. I figured I would wait.. it seems I am going to have to stay in Cambodia because flights are crazy and coming back nearly impossible. Love your vids.. I am going back for that 6th Elijah Craig 12 year tomorrow...Who knows? maybe they had more in the back... That Remus sure looks wonderful.. cheers
LOL--these have been a somewhat 'well kept secret I think'. I was in Total Wine in Ky. and a gentleman really encouraged me to try the Remus Reserve Batch 1. That was my first--then of course had to try the George Remus when it was introduced. When 8 & Sand came out of course I picked it up! I love all three and always have them on my shelf! Nice Review of the line-up!
I agree with everything you say about overpriced MGP... but you’ve got to admit you’ve fallen for it like the rest of us. Look at all that MGP behind you. Lol We all fall victim

How does Repeal Batch hold up vs the Remus Volstead 14 year that you reviewed last year?

I've had batch 2. It was really good too but 3 is better IMO

I had the 2....I like the 3 much better...but the 2 was solid as well.
