Been watching these videos and really like them. Found out about this channel because you sponsored my son's soccer team. Hell yeah! Keep up the awesome work!
I got to meet people from makers and they explained the process, they had 12 year old cask strength makers from the Rick house and it was fine, but when tasted near the cellar aged product it was night and day, made the CA product shine! I do generally enjoy makers but cellar aged always tastes special to me
So grateful you have friends in other parts of the country. This would be a pretty boring channel if you were limited to only stuff available in Ohio. Thanks for another great video and great review.
I have to say I really enjoyed the MM The Heart Release 2024. I feel it didn't follow the normal MM profile. I need to compare it to the BEP. I hope the Cellar Aged is even better.
Had the opportunity to blind WT Generations, MM Cellar Aged and Little Book Chap 7 back in January with a couple of friends. Little Book Chap 7 came first for 2 of us with WT Generations being the other one. I think I will pass this one too at SRP of 200.
Surprised it held the oakiness after trying days later. I let the 24’ sit open a few hours again after trying a day or two before and it was much better
Thanks Jason for another great review! Hard pass for me - I'm still hunting for the RR15. Like you, I've never been a huge fan of wheaters though I do enjoy the cask strength from MM.
Nice review! I am glad I just was able to get a 2nd bottle of the 2023 Cellar Aged near MSRP. Would probably get a 2024 if I can find for MSRP. But will not pay anything above. 🥃
Last year, I grabbed one for 150 and after two disappointing pours, I blinded it against Maker's CS. The 2023 Cellar Aged has a great nose, but Maker's CS won on the palate and finish for me. I'm a very big Maker's fan if that means anything. Not even going to try for this release especially when I can get the CS, 46 CS and a pick for under 100. I'm also digging the Heart release. Cheers!
Nice to see a TH-camr not ranting and raving over these cellar aged. I really didn’t enjoy the 2023 cellar aged at all, it absolutely tasted like typical makers mark and I was not a fan at all.
@@TheMashandDrum so in the final breakdown if the most you'd pay is retail does that change to $199 or are you sticking with what you initially thought was retail at $150-$160?
Yeah, I like Maker's Mark just fine, but I'm really cautious on what I am willing to spend over $100 on and this one doesn't sound like it's gonna change my mind any.
I'm the weird guy that looks for FAE 02 and old bottle 46 cask strengths. I can't see paying $150 for Makers. Keep in mind I'm an old Kentucky guy in his mid 60s.
Had a friend share a pour of the 2023 release with me, and it’s good, but it’s not special. Rebel 10 can go head to head and probably win in my opinion and I can pick that bottle up for below $100. I just don’t understand the excitement with these
I agree, this bottle is way to oaky and has a weird note on the finish. Tanik, wet cardboard, whatever you want to call it. It just didn't hit right for me. I didn't get to try the 2023 release but the 2024 is a pass for me. Luckily my buddy bought a bottle and I got to try his.
Whiskeytubers are obsessed with oak. I don't mind some oak in my whiskey but I don't care for oak-forward whiskey. Which is great because I don't have to pay a premium for good juice.
I am a Makers fan but just bought the heart release and was disappointed, the finish was non existent. With that, I just don't see me ever getting celar aged
idk why they just don’t age in regular rickhouse past the 6-7 yr mark. they aren’t going to get the flavor concentration or the oxidative degradation products of the tannins as much either. What’s wrong with making wlw 12yr? f***ing amazing stuff, compared even to the 2023 cellar aged. imho, mm is missing the mark with their flavor vision. although 46 is better bc of the french oak influence, the whole focus on production volume (and low age whiskeys) over high end whiskey production (much lower yields) really dampens my enthusiasm for the brand. They could be making volume whiskey for shots, and limited amounts of more refined sipping whiskey ( not a knock if you like to sip mm) but they are missing the mark, pun intended when compared to the marketing wizardry over at BT, or even (sigh) diageo.
This is a good value when its over $10 per year retail, impossible to find, $400 on secondary, and really doesn't taste that good? I got priced out of this game a looong time ago...
Not surprised this is worse honestly. I had multiple samples of 2023 CA and it never impressed me literally finished last in a blind if the price is even more not worth it at all for me
I've seen one, literally one, given away in a drawing since it was released last year. The rest all seem to be in the duty free shops around the world. Distro is BS on this.

MSRP is $199. Thanks for the review Jason
That's a pretty good deal. For someone other than me that is. I just got a Jim Beam 7 year today for $20 including tax. Felt pretty good about it.
wasn't it $159 last year? Pass if they've jacked up the price for me.
$160* in AZ
I got mine for $180 before tax
Appreciate the review. I really liked 2023 so hope to try before I buy
I'm sticking to MM CS and MM 46 CS. These prices are outrageous
46 CS for the win
Missed out on last years but was able to scoop a 24 last night for 150
Awesome review, great recs. Crushed it as always.
I was already thinking how it would compare to the Holladay rickhouse wheat. That bottle is really great! Thanks for the review 🥃
So grateful you have friends in other parts of the country. This would be a pretty boring channel if you were limited to only stuff available in Ohio. Thanks for another great video and great review.
The only MM product I've liked was the 46 CS, and I like it a lot especially at $50 on sale. Based on that, do you think I'd like Cellar age?
I have to say I really enjoyed the MM The Heart Release 2024. I feel it didn't follow the normal MM profile. I need to compare it to the BEP. I hope the Cellar Aged is even better.

I’ll just have some Weller 12yr or my Old Elk double wheat:) cheers!
That review doesn’t help the case for this one. Appreciate the honesty.

Nice review. I think 119 is an all-time MM high. Am i right?
I love me some MM cask strength !!

When I can fairly easily get Knob12 for 75? Pass and give me the Knob every. damn. time.
If I see it in a bourbon bar I’ll give it a try.

I booked the Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged experience. I heard rumors that sometimes one can purchase a bottle on that tour.
If I think BEP it eh okay do you think I should seek out the Cellar age
How does this compare to my beloved seagrass? Or my beloved brt 1 and 2?
Hey Jason, can you review the limited edition Garrison Brothers Ladybird?! Us, in TX, would love your expert opinion!
@@BullsBearsBourbon if I can get one I will

Where did you find it for $150? in Idaho its $200 and we dont have the markup.

Crazy to see it out already. Haven't heard of any announcements that it was gonna come out. Great review as always
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
Hope I can get my hands on a bottle this year. Finishing series is great, but I need this guy.
Hi Jason, I saw weller12 for 150. Is it a buy? Thanks in advance
Sure!
Nope, it's $45-50 MSRP for a reason
❤

Let it open up a bit
I was able to get a handshake of the 2023. I really liked it but secondary is insane so I do not even try to find them.
I think the retail is $200. So $50 more than the 2023 vintage😳
Wasn't Russel's 2003 aged in the basement of a stone rickhouse?
I'll pay retail if I can find it, but not going out of my way.

Maybe let it set for a month then come back to it. I’m sure the flavors will settle in

Whiskey is getting to damn expensive. You walk into a whiskey isle and there are so many bottles in the $50-$200 range. No thanks.
Got mine for 79 bucks today. Think someone messed up. lol
They did 🤣🤣🤣
Given the crazy secondary price, I’d also list Weller 12 as an alternative. It is still possible to find it for $250-ish

$450-$500 is wild for this bottle. 100% not worth that at all. @ MSRP -$200 it’s fine.
Not worth $200
Its not going to be $150 and forget Secondary market sellers
