- The Volkswagen ID.Buzz is an all-electric van that's been tailored for North America. It has three rows of seating, optional all-wheel drive, and up to 330 hp. But is this version for real? Despite being introduced as a concept vehicle in 2016, the ID.Buzz has yet to hit the road here in the U.S.

"From my seating position I cannot see the front or the hood of the vehicle at all."
Wait 'til this guy finds out there's no hood...
It's so common these days to be unable to see beyond the base of the windshield anyway in anything other than a pickup or (true) SUV.
🤣🤣
In the old VWs, the odd little window behind the A-pillar was called the wing window. Or sometimes it was called air conditioning.
I remember them being called "no draft" window vents
one of my Neighbors had a old Type 2 in the 1980's , and me and his Daughter would play in it. I would sometimes hide where the Table was stowed. lol.
By the time ID BuZZ makes it to US, it will be time for a redesign.
I'm having a hard time getting excited for something they teased this long and that is bound to be super expensive.
Still with the touch controls on the steering wheel, even after VW apologized for how misguided it was...
Still with touch controls for HVAC while other manufacturers have already corrected for that mistake in their refreshed models...
VW is huge and they move too slow. What happened to my former favorite automaker? They are clumsy in a market where they need to be nimble.
Ugh, it's a shame what's happened to VW.
they may eventually do what they did with the ID4.
If VW was smart, they would price their EVs to top out only at 35-40K for top level trim spec and sell in volume ..
But technology to make EVs are so expensive i wonder whats to built one to really see if the MSRP price is worth it no doubt dealerships are going to overprice the vehicle and it will only hurt vw
Some of their newer preproduction models have already dispensed with touch controls. But the complaints were too late for this model, which is already for sale in Europe.
With current EV prices dropping VW will need to price this accordingly or they won’t sell in today’s market. Don’t get greedy.
I want to see that funny looking blue car in the background, looks like it could sell well!
I came across my first one in the flesh yesterday here in the Netherlands. They do exist
The concept of this was fantastic. What the hell happened?
Concepts often don't take into account the blend of design for manufacturability, regulations, and what the potential buyer say they want.
its a Cargo van , what MORE do you want ?
regulations, market demand, r&d
What happens ? we get a nice ID Buzz. Plenty of those in Norway.
I actually saw this on the road in NJ today.
I cannot stop staring at the classic beetle in the background. Old cars are way more attractive than modern cars, and I’m not even that old I’m in my 30s!
You're not old. You're ✨️retro✨️
I put $100 down 3 years ago to get on a ordering list for the buzz. I just got call 2 days ago from the local VW dealer. They are allowed to order 4 that will be made in Germany for the us market to be delivered in November. He asked what color I wanted. He didn’t have all the spec details but claimed it was a 91 kWh battery AWD. I will have the option once it gets closer to buy it. We’ll see if I get it this year.
Ship it already, VW! And make a camper version too!
I hope they offer a PHEV or gas/hybrid version of this as well. I was excited about this years ago but I still have a hard time believing I will be able to get one in Canada before I'm dead.
Nope- only going to be an EV
PHEV or Range Extender would be awesome.
Perfect for camping with its own onboard ICE generator.
Hoping these OEMs see that the next wave of buyers aren't BEV absolutists.
PHEV is dead , Hybrids are being outsold by TESLA.
and even a $35k model 3 lasts Decades longer than PHEV.
Strictly BEV I'm afraid.
Kind of a little disappointed that Europe gets the 2 row short wheelbase model while we get the longer 3 row.
Seeing the footage of the original one brings back lots of memories...
Cargo area?
Saw the new electric VW bus at the Vancouver Auto Show in March 2024. They admitted it was an Italian model. Absolutely gorgeous exterior, kind of sparse interior. There are none released in North America - yet.
I previously was considering getting a VW Buzz, but I lost interest after hearing about estimated pricing (>$50k) and hearing about bugs/reliability issues from people who drove them in Europe and from people's experiences with the ID4.
I have 45 K on my ID 4 with no problems.
ID4 and ID Buzz…
They sorted most of those bugs in the software.
It would be helpful to have more than one opinion about the driving position/comfort.
Yeah, seams like all he needed to do was raise the seat. Would have given him more support under his thighs, and straightened out his legs. As he said, there was plenty of headroom to spare. Would have allowed him to see out the front better as well. (Although I'm pretty sure there is better frontal vision in this than say ANY TRUCK sold in America..)
Dude would have hated the original bus. Especially the stick shift.
I hope 2:30 is an indication that they're changing to NACS, which would be very welcome. I hope they also move the port to the left - otherwise owners are going to be quite unpopular at superchargers, as they're going to be using two spots.
I love my ID 4 Can't wait for the Buzz to put all my grandkids in for a ride.
You can't see the hood because there isn't one. It's similar to older vans or firetrucks.
Does this vehicle have spare tire or space saver spare ???
They sure took their time and let the buzz die down. I wanted one when it was debuted but it’s been so long that I’ve forgotten about it and it’s still not available for purchase
The original bus was good cause it was simple. Didn’t have a bunch of additional options to jack up the price. Is any car company in touch with consumers?
Curious if VW has enabled 1 pedal driving on this or are they still adamant on not implementing it.
still Fighting , full one pedal all the time.
It would be nice if they actually released useful information about it.
Much too expensive. The only people that can afford it are old enough to have ridden in the original.
too Expensive for a CARGO van.
And how much is it?
@@heatismno official price yet
Basically a 90”s mini van that happens to be electric
Bingo! Still, the cutest minivan around. If they can show that the seats can be easily removed for camping or hauling, that'd make it very attractive for a lot of buyers.
Suggested MSRP?
VW is taking too long and they don't realize that people are losing interest in this one! I'm tired waiting for this .. going with Volvo EX90
ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. VOLVO ? NOPE.
I really want to get one of these for my brother. Such a cool car.
until you Drive it, its CRAPPY.
The headlights should be round like the old one. It would look better in my opinion
I will believe it when I see it.
That German startup "Xbus" better captures the ethos of old VW buses; This thing's plastic clad interior makes it seem like a 2000s car.
Imagine the dealer MARKUPS on this thing?
I'm curious about this thing but not enough to buy one
VW diesel version?
❤
Japan has a cute vw bus
Canoo EV is the VW you were promised!
Canoo may be out of business in a few months.
Canoo is deader than fisker.
Unfortunately, they seem to have spending priority issues. They spend too much on the CEO’s private jet.
I am SO sick of hearing about this damn bus. (Buzz). Over 10 years ago it was in the automotive news and every year they show us pictures and prototypes and say 'Next year, next year'…. I’ve sat in it 2 years in a row at the L.A. auto show, each time saying next year. I’ve gone to the release at Huntington Beach Calif. and they say next year. Quit reporting on it, it’s just click bait from VW! 😠
Absolutely.
That’s how difficult to mass produce the battery outside China.
It s already rolling on road here in Europe a year. You guys are always a little bit behind :D
And don’t forget, it cost more than a family home
@@thejamaican67 you mean in Mississippi
key missing features : estimated rate & horsepower.
It better be great range or that thing will flop in the US.
I just asked my wife if she wanted one.., she said "no thanks".., so I guess we are keeping the palisade
Great to see a van that embraces its own boxiness.
Too many others try to disguise this functional shape.
Compare a 1991 Vanagon to a 1991 Pontiac TransSport.
One is timeless, the other looks embarrassing.
IDont Buzz when I look at this make it a hybrid and maybeeee
60-80K USD. DOA.
This looks so expensive. Why do vehicles need so many unnecessary functions?
Double A pillars is dangerous for pedestrians
This will be vaprware pretty soon.
Definitely looks like something that will be a first electric vehicle for a lot of people!
Oh my G.. what on earth happened to Volkswagen? They won't last another ten years, at this rate!
Won't be available at least 2026
Sick
Deathtrap.
VERY GOOD CAR
NOPE , not even close.
Well, after EIGHT years of teasers ...... does anyone really care anymore?
Volkswagon sending over every damned car EXCEPT the ID3 GT. Seriously?
Over it already. Is it really a minivan, just because it has sliding doors? Third-row that is not really adult friendly, not a lot of storage room, range that is nothing to write home about, and a small passenger window - this is pretending to be a minivan.
Too expensive and need hybrid version
They keep kicking this can down the road... The delays have been so long, it's already out of date. Visibility, comfort, space behind the rear seats, dashboard --- all negatives. And it's all-electric only. I really don't see this thing selling.
VW had so much time to get this right. Major fail all around! VW seems to be always late to the party with an already dated product
CR - do you even know the History of the VW bus / Transporter ?
they NEVER called it the BUZZ .
its known by VW as the Type 2 , consumers call it the VW bus/transporter.
CR is completely Clueless .
They call this one the ID.BUZZ, though, and the Type 2 was colloquially known as the bus.
Apropos of nothing, I just watched a Donut video about how Consumer Reports fraudulently created fake rollover videos to kill the Suzuki Samurai and got themselves sued into oblivion then had to settle. That is why I unsubscribed.
tobad these days consumer reports are not 100% truthful make sure to check their advertisers and the company that owns them. Not sure if it applies to this company (VW) but other companies who do not advertise with CR get bad reviews.
I don't always agree with CRs evaluations. But your are wrong in thinking CR accepts advertising money. They just don't.
CR is independent and accepts no advertising.
WTF VW…release it or STFU. My lease is up in 5months so…
This car is an April fools joke right?
No that was the Cyber Truck
Vw will be bankrupt in a couple of years tops. Would be a bad move to buy their cars. I’m with all of you, actually put myself on a waiting list for one when they first announced it. Awesome. Now it’s a Camry. Totally destroyed it.
It appears to be just as stupid as the original type 3 VW Bus.
No thanks
NOT impressed 😑 I miss the original simple Classic VW Buss. This BUZZ aint it😝
Stupidly expensive.
It’s pronounced “Butz” in German.
It’s butz-ugly, too.
This would be cool without EV thingy ....
This thing sucks and I am a VW fanboi. VW's electrical architecture is the worst in the business re: range, reliability, and performance. VW makes terrible electric cars. Make this an ICE vehicle and wait two years for VW to get the bugs out (and knowing VW there will be alot of bugs) then maybe I would consider it. Otherwise hard pass. F electric cars
Absolute rubbish.
No one, hopefully, will waste their hard earned dough on what will be another electric vehicle disaster.
Definitely not anything special or desirable. Meh 😒.
It was ugly in the '60's and it is ugly once again.
Tesla is the best car company ever! No gas stations, No oil changes, No smog check, No corrupt dealership, No catalytic converter and as fast as a $650,000 Lamborghini.
But with a TERRRRIBBLE Owner.
