  • I upgraded to a dual battery setup and the stock 55 amp alternator blew testing the setup out. I went with an 250 amp (190 idle) GM alternator set up for 3 wire and hooked it to a Delco Remy style GM external regulator. I also set out to clean up my wiring as it was becoming a rats nest.
    Parts:
-QUALITY POWER (yucaipa california) GM 10/12 SI style 250 amp alternator set up for external regulation (FIELD + was terminal 2 and FIELD - was terminal 1)
-12 point Terminal busbar part #71225N02
-Dual 4 Point Terminal busbar part #738837N0N02

-8 point power distribution block part #70008

Dont mess around fighting washers get the trail gear bracket. On my 85 4runner i had 4 wires to my alt. yellow is #1 white is the exciter wire #2, no need for a jumper. The small red wire i hooked to my coil. It fired up my tach, and voltage guague, and the rest of the cluster. i used an alt with 2 spades and the main post. it was from an 84 chevy truck 350 78 amps

Hey, did you stack washers for this? If so do you know the years or models that will work? Thanks for any help

Honestly this was my pre fab days and that truck is still mine but at another property. I've learned welding the brackets even becomes a pain and it's just worth it to get the right bracket. When it comes to the alternator you want a tight stable mount
