Ipohian here. Thanks for being kind. Ipoh is a retirement town becoz of the slightly cheaper property prices compared to KL & Penang. Many old people here.
I was born in Singapore but decided to settle down in Ipoh 35 years ago. I lived in several places in Malaysia but i finally chose to live in the outskirts of Ipoh not far from the caves. I married a local girl. .I left city life to become a farmer. My closest friend married a local girl and became a padi planter in Teluk Intan, south of Ipoh.
I wonder if it is a popular idea for Singaporeans. I married a girl who was growing up in Singapore and we married in the US where we finished our graduate studies. We lived in Hong Kong for sixteen years before we moved to Damansara where we made it our home for retirement.
The Kopitiam(local cafe) culture in Malaysia is something most tourists missed out. It's a treasure trove of authentic local street foods and beverages that can be enjoyed without breaking the bank!😊
Thanks so much! We tried to match how we felt in the moment, we don’t usually use songs with too many lyrics but these felt right! Thanks for watching as always ☺️
Ipoh is very laid back guys...am happy though that you stopped by in your tour. Do come again to visit Ipoh because Ipoh has a lot to see and do. We have white water rafting trips, cave exploration, glamping etc. My friend from Turkey came for 2 weeks and he's already missing Ipoh ☺️
I really enjoy your tour in Ipoh which is my hometown. Your photography technique is really fantastic, you captured the subject with clarity for viewers.
Being born and raised in Ipoh, I'm proud to say that you'd find that most of the ppl here are well versed in English, actually most of us are multilingual so communication wouldn't be a problem for you. Happy travelling.
Yes , you're correct , Ipoh is pronounced as E-Poh! In Mandarin , it is pronounced as Yee-Bao! Malaysia had many connection with England , Scotland , Canada , Australia & New Zealand from the former British Empire that many Malaysians further their university study in these Commonwealth countries ...
You missed taiping and Kuala Kangsar.... And when you reach KL please have a day tour to Kuala Selangor - Sabak Bernam stretch or even stay a night or two there... You can try traditional snacks like kerepek, rempeyek. mee udang, seafood galore... Attractions will be fireflies, blue tears, langurs, and several historical site, paddy fields... Experience the rural lifestyle of paddy farmers and fishermen.... You could stay at a homestay that offers activities to do, like catching fish with your own bare hands, maybe making the said traditional snacks etc ( I would suggest sg haji dorani homestay for one)
@@JordanandEmily I'm from Taiping and it's even more laid back in Taiping than Ipoh besides Taiping has the most historical firsts in Malaysia. On the outskirts of Taiping is the fishing village / town of Kuala Sepetang where you can watch sea eagles feeding on the boat, seafood restaurants, charcoal making kilns, mangrove swamp walkway, firefly colony . Another town in Perak state is Gula which is popular with bird watchers but it's certain months only
If you like the local prices + kopitiams in ipoh, stay in Pudu in KL. It’s a non touristy chinese area a short walk frm bukit bintang. We stay at beautiful lucentia residence which is conveniently connected to lalaport mall but then you can walk to lots of kopitiams + local restaurants + other malls. ICC pudu is a busy hawker centre that is great for brunch a 10min walk away.
Ipoh is D BEST !!!! Ever ! You guys haven’t even scratched the surface of Ipoh . Honestly, it’s the most amazing city . A gem. People fr Ipoh are 100% different fr people all over Malaysia. The Muslims, Chinese, Indians , Punjabi people here are the most helpful, friendly, kind , honest & truly amazing people ! We want to retire in Ipoh ❤. The food. 5 stars 🌟

Its not just about climate but different scenery and tea plantation as tea only grow in tropical climate in high latitude as in Sri Lanka, India' Kenya, and China highlands.
To explore Malaysia. You need a couple of months and a car for a nice road trip. 1 month plus to drive around Peninsular Malaysia and another month to drive around Sabah and Sarawak. Many tourist do this with a car or a motorbike. As Malaysia is a Federation and its territories were once their own countries. Its pretty unique everywhere.
One day should suffice for a visit to Ipoh. Soak in the local atmosphere, bit of sightseeing, that’s all there is to do anyway. The limestone caves and the ruins of an old castle just outside the city can be visited the same day.
Ipoh's attraction is in its outskirts. Explore it's suburbs... Caving Nature's trail White water rafting Rural living Tin Mines and dredging boats. Better to rent a car.
Ipoh born here and was surprised you mentioned the dim sum was ordinary when I thought every random dim sum restaurant is good in Ipoh till I googled the one you shared. Looks like you chose a halal dim sum shop which excluded the key ingredients for delicious dim sum - pork / lard oil. Edit : saw the end of video. Ming court is one of the best dim sum in Ipoh for sure but they are on the expensive side with small portions. But happy that you get to taste the difference
Ohhhh that makes sense! Interesting how the first place has so many positive reviews! We’ll need to review a bit closer next time 🤣 Ming Court was hectic but amazing, we loved it!
To be fair, I think the one you went to is probably the best halal dim sum in the area (likely, since the review is so positive) but for us who could take pork, the difference in taste is big.
Coffee with condensed milk really tasty but unfortunately hardly any outlets in Malaysia for the past 20 years use condensed milk due to the very expensive condensed milk...the last 20 years I believe all outlets just use sweetened creamer..to those not aware they still think it's condensed milk...in the good olden days condensed milk was like staple in coffee n tea ,so was butter
We were disappointed with egg tarts as we were expecting dessert as so much is sweet in Malaysia but the egg tarts were less sweet + more eggy lol. What did u think? I loved the kaya toast with white coffee every morning! 🤤
we get internet everywhere in Ipoh, so the issue must be the telco that you signed in. most likely your phone downloaded something and used up the 1gb data.
We figured it out! They loaded the $ onto the sim but didn’t confirm the package (the man at the shop was helping) so I only got to use a bonus 1gb the company was allowing. I had to add a little bit more money, go into the app and select the package in the app. Never had that before but now it makes sense! 🤣
The prices in Plan B sound like a scam! You should only go there when you've exhausted all options. Probably not. Plus the unlimited data plan in Malaysia is a lie. Read the fine print. Technically it's unlimited, but you've used up a certain quota, the speed drops to almost nothing.
@JordanandEmily Happy to share if you plan to go off track from commonly known touristy locations in Malaysia. If you are in KL, 40km down south, there is this place easy place to hike up, Broga hill. Nice place for sunrise. Journey need to start from 3am though.
In kl, do visit the national mosque, then Hou temple, Sri mahamariaman temple, and holy rosary church. And I'm Melaka, don't forget to visit the oldest church of st paul and the oldest STILL functioning church of St Peter)(2 different churches... Please do t get them confused like every other tourist 😭)
Ipoh is a place more preferred by the locals i would say bcoz of the foods..the historical vibes..the nature...things which foreigners need to understand or know to appreciate
If you go to Cameron Highlands you could see more British thingy left by them due to William Cameron a Scottish opened the place and hill station for Brit expats to cool down and build the houses remiscent houses back in their homeland included Smoke House, used to be English pub, introduced strawberries and of course tea plantation as they did in India, Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and Kenya.

Also, you can always order drinks without any sugar. Just use the word ""kosong" = empty (free of sugar)

@JordanandEmily btw, did you know that Michelle Yeoh was born in Ipoh, too?
Ipoh is a beautiful place, look forward to watching.
😊 It was stunning!
What a neat city! I really like the Harry Potter vibes in that one cafe. That temple you visited near the end looked so cool!

Temples usually dont charge entrance fees but a small donation will help in the upkeep of the temple. There is always a donation box near the alter.
We saw on the way out and donated! 😊
Yes, it is quite expensive for that price. However, Ipoh's charges are normally high.

Travel to Philippines guys.
Hi slovakian queen.
🙃
We have before and will do again!
😂
Hopefully u guys should stay a a little bit longer. So many food and beautiful places to visit and eat...
We need to, we're thinking of coming back one day for a road trip!

It was definitely less sweet than we thought but worth a try. I don’t think we’d get it again though 🤣 looovveeddd the toast and coffee!
Qing Xin Ling Leisure & Cultural Village is beautiful in Ipoh
Thanks for the recommendation! We were looking at this but ran out of time 😞
Ipoh is somewhat a sombre city, people walk slowly amongst its old buildings. Maybe the slow pace is not for everybody.
Maybe not 😊
we get internet everywhere in Ipoh, so the issue must be the telco that you signed in. most likely your phone downloaded something and used up the 1gb data.
It was a telco issue, apparently the plan wasn’t confirmed or something 🤣
Would like to recommend for Jordan to check in into a hospital and recuperate from his stomach flue. Its way too long for a normal stomach problem.
Thankfully all better after filming this! It did last 4 days though 😳
@JordanandEmily that's a good news. Have a good travel then
An effective remedy for stomach flu is avoid solid food for couple of hours and just take fresh calamansi drinks to clear the toxic from the system
So when you are finally sick of this travel malarkey, you could both just stay home and give Masterclasses on how to shoot and edit Travel vlogs.
😄 parlay the whole thing into a teaching channel 😉 not a bad idea
Should get a hand held mini fan to keep yourself cool.😅
hahaha good idea!
If uve bought data, theres no way u dont hv data.u cld probaby stop by one of the mobile phone shops to chk ur connection. Theyll do it for free

I just found out today my CelcomDigi 40gb lte for MYR25 is actually: 10gb lte + 24gb hotspot (I won't use) + 6gb low speed.
Ok to make it easy for u....how u pronounce hippo....its almost sounds like...juz remember hippo so u can pronounce Ipoh correctly...
Don't take YT subtitles seriously. It's always inaccurate. Of course, they know the spelling of Ipoh when they did their research about the city. 😊
🤣 thank you!
You should stop by Papan or Pusing ghost town nearby 😅
What!? We'd never heard of this! 😲

Nice! Changes fast!
Is Ipoh better than IHOP?
Hahahaha I think it might be, less pancakes though
Do also visit the church of st Micheal - oldest church in the city and a very nice one
Oh nice, thanks for the recommendation!
You're non-religious there, dear girl?? Good for you!! 😁
😂 thanks!

another minus for Jordan's Ipoh tally. Too many muggles
