Honestly, I hope he pulls this talk on Lanolin, because I'm certain that Lanolin's not letting on the whole truth about why she acted the way she did toward Duo and the Heroes; she possibly doesn't even realize said truth herself.
It’s kinda strange seeing Whisper being this bubbly, talkative cinnamon roll. Makes it all the more sadder knowing what Mimic and Eggman would put her through.
Not half as sad as knowing that it was Whisper herself who recruited Mimic into the Diamond Cutters. Her apprehensions are worse than we thought! Whisper no doubt feels like it was HER fault that her friends died, as if SHE killed them. To have been bearing that guilt this whole time must feel like a knife to her heart.
I read all of the IDW and all of the One-shots and Annuals of the Sonic IDW, and they're all amazing. Dunno why people skip them--You got lore off of the characters, (Whisper and her time with the OG Diamond Cutters, Mimic's story, Surge and Kit, etc.) and you get to see dynamics between characters you don't really see often (Knuckles and Blaze, Marine and Blaze, Omega and Gemerl, etc.) Plus it's just downright wholesome! (Tangle comforting Whisper, Knuckles giving Blaze advice {they're both Emerald Guardians, so that was nice} and etc.!)
Man, the Mimic story is just...so unexpected in tone. Makes me feel like I was reading Archie Sonic again. That's the best way I can describe it. Meanwhile Kit continues being the secret mastermind that everyone has to watch out for. Like they were setting up Miles (Anti-Tails) to be in the Archie Comic for Scourge and the Suppression Squad. Ah more Archie Comic memories. This is not a comparison of quality, but things just reminded me back of that time. I think you'll give this comic an 8.7/10. Edit: You have no idea how fast I ran back to my computer after you said "8.7" after the Surge and Kit section. Only to realize that you were ranking the individual stories...Does this count as a win? I dunno.
At least Basil Karlo had a decent reason to be offended; the film he starred in was getting remade, and he wasn't offered any involvement in it. Mimic? He just can't face the fact that his career never got off the ground because HE was being a MASSIVE SNOWFLAKE!!!
I understand Mimic so much better now, and while I have sympathy for him, cause I could have ended up the same way, he became so scared of what he wanted that he made sure he'll never get it. He's the biggest faker of all and can't accept the truth cause it proves him wrong.
Welcome to The 2024 Annual, we got: - "We live in a soicety," - "Alone again, naturally, (except not really)" - "Breaking news: Theatre kid can't handle the concept of having friends, goes on killing spree, among the victims, literal puppy-like innocence,"
Your right Wolfie Sonic doesn't care what anyone thinks of him, he's a hero because that's who he is, he doesn't do it for fame or anything he does it because it's the right thing to do , Surge however she wants people to think she is a good hero , she wants the piase and the glory not to mention she actually gets mad at someone for not being slightly grateful, so she pretty much being a hero for the wrong the reasons and Kit is not helping, since he will cause bit some chaos so Surge will get the paise , is not looking good, also they still want to killed Sonic and Tails to replace them
Hopefully if Surge still failed to be a hero in Sonic's world she's going to visit or stay in the Sol Dimension to be the Rival of Blaze (Just like Sakura and Karin from Street Fighters)
The annual has a lot to digest. I do like seeing Surge's and Kit's dynamic. About them trying to be their own heroes and I do like Kit's dialogue hinting that he could be the big bad feeling. I like Knuckles' chapter when he is expressing gratitude with his life and with his friends how the Master Emerald is a part of him and his friends are a part of him also that makes him who he is. And finally my most favorite part is the one with Mimic. We see him expect story about how he became an actor and seeing other people who were so if he is hiding behind a mask and embracing who he is deep down or choosing who he is. And this breaks me to see that he betrayed people who let him in. And Whisper who is so happy upbeat is really adorable and sing the change from what we've seen so far is devastating. And not gonna lie though that chapter is a little bit chilling since he almost caught Whisper lacking. And it's really interesting to see inside of his psychology of what is going on around him and how he feels about things. He's choosing to embrace the mask and choosing to become selfish and arrogant. And I feel like this is really deep with a character who is a villain. I still hate him for how he literally led his friends to their own demise and how he literally traumatized Whisper. It's less about him trying to embrace who he is and choosing to be selfish and arrogant When he could have chose not to be. He had a choice but he is covering up his excuses by being cold and blaming everyone else and even trying to shift blame to the reader itself asking us "who are we?" I think he could probably be some type of sociopath in my opinion. The annual is very cool and Mimic still sucks as a person. Whisper deserves all the love and respect.
@@TheSultan1470 I honestly think Mimic is the weak one. He betrayed his whole team countless times and other teams and choose to run away from his problems and blame everybody for his. And if his world views are challenged he still wants to feel like he's right. He's like Lotso Toy Story 3. And Whisper is stronger than him because she has made new friends and found new family in trying to honor her past one. Mimic didn't win, that made Whisper stronger.
Imagine Surge was the one being chased by a GUN truck. Surge is slowly becoming a better person, but it's still going to be a long road to redemption. Kit... not so much. I hope Surge and Kit end up exposing Duo as Mimic next issue.
Wow I didn’t know mimic was an actor I always knew he was a loner but geez he sees the world way differently than Sonic. Mimic sees the world as a stage with nothing real. I guess he never had friends because he doesn’t believe in love or anything anymore
As despicable as Mimic is, I think that somewhere deep down within him, he regrets getting the Diamond Cutters killed even though he outwardly tries to act like they didn't matter to him. They gave him everything he wanted and because he couldn't consider the possibility his worldview was flawed, he threw away what was probably the only chance he had at being happy and fulfilled.
Honestly, this says to me that Lanolin is not just like Starline, but like Mimic as well. They both became part of a group that accepted them, welcomed by people who called them friend; but in the end, they ended up pushed them all away, repaying their kindness with cruelty. The only difference is that Mimic KNOWINGLY had a different motive than the group he joined and KNOWINGLY betrayed them. Boy, is Lanolin in for an apocalyptic awakening when Mimic reveals himself to her!

Did anyone else notice that Mimic was basically talking about personas? The different facets of yourself you show others?
Honestly, I hope he pulls this talk on Lanolin, because I'm certain that Lanolin's not letting on the whole truth about why she acted the way she did toward Duo and the Heroes; she possibly doesn't even realize said truth herself.
Not gonna lie but He is a deceiver and doesn’t believe in friendship or love

The fact that Mimic’s persona as Duo resembles one of his former Diamond Cutter allies shows a bit of baggage.
5:20 If they ever discover their origins, I wonder how much of it will be reflected in how they are now.

Kit's a definitely a better Anti-Tails than both Miles and Nine COMBINED!
0:53 City Escape takes place in downtown westopolis? From shadow the hedgehog.
Mimic’s backstory is somewhat similar to DC’s Clayface, specifically an actor with change appearances.
At least Basil Karlo had a decent reason to be offended; the film he starred in was getting remade, and he wasn't offered any involvement in it. Mimic? He just can't face the fact that his career never got off the ground because HE was being a MASSIVE SNOWFLAKE!!!

There's no sympathy to be had for him, even if you understand him; he was a narcissistic snowflake from the start.
Sometimes I wonder, how does Angel Island have water when it all flows out of it on water falls?
Two words: Water Cycle.
Mimic, for a short while I thought they would play a little sympathy in your backstory, but it turns out you're a cold empty ghoul

Whisper? More like Whimper.
@TheSultan1470 Why would you say that

I love the reviews Wolfie

man when does overly dramatic reading for the comic's return i miss the old ways where you read them with the character voices

Even Judas regretted betraying Jesus, but Judas' story shows that having regret doesn't always mean forgiveness is an option.
I always thought he was a villain a even worse one
