Hey Doug! I have a Yale & Towne model 605 that works the same way. Mine doesn't say Baffler on it though. Very cool

Very cool. I see the 605 in their 1929 catalog. Can’t find the baffler, though, I’m sure I’ve seen it somewhere. The way they have fancy names on everything in their 1908 catalog, I suspect the baffler eventually turned into your 605.

Awesome old padlocks, and they cleaned up really well. What do you use to remove the rust and how do you keep the rust from coming back. I find that when I have used vinegar the rust just comes straight back even if I spray the lock with a penetrating lube like wd40. Do you have any suggestion, cheers mate good to see you again

I do use vinegar as well, and sometimes number 0000 steel wool. Sometimes you need the wool to break the surface and get the vinegar under there. You are right about it rusting. They call this flash rust. You need to use some light Cooking oil or every day oil. On iron, like push key locks, coat them, so they are wet and let it soak in for a while. They are very porous. Then wipe off the excess and leave just a thin extra layer to dry and seal the iron. With steel, just a thin layer and let it dry no need for the presoak.
