      Yeah it was hard to really tell at first but upon a further look they are pretty moss covered. Swear I think that was a pelvis bone and the other coffin with the lid shifted. I’m glad to see you can’t really get inside so you can’t disturb the dead but being the curious soul I would love to be able to step inside that time capsule of a crypt. I suppose if you were skinny enough and didn’t mind the idea of the rust and spiders and had some great climbing prowess you could probably get past those doors and get inside.

    Great job Serenity Sue! Appreciate the dedication and work you put in. Are you kidding? The wind noise and camera focus is nothing - anyone who's ever done video knows that. Ignore the naysayers -- 99% of the people enjoyed it - the other one percent are holed up somewhere living off their parents and whining. I admire your dedication and determination to show us the mausoleum and it's " occupants "😉. As i mentioned i enjoy checking out mausoleums myself. Hi Sue! This video arrived (I believe the 'in' term is 'dropped') at 8:30am Saturday here. I'm guessing that with all the rain much of the soil in Ireland is saturated right now (it's been raining here too). That place is a remarkable find. It's like a Gothic pavilion with a crypt underneath, and that was an extraordinary view of the interior. As always I appreciate your efforts to bring us this content. 🇦🇺 🇮🇪

    This was amazing to see, thank you Sue. You never have to apologise to us for wind noise, or the bad weather as you do a terrific job.
    I have lived in Queensland Australia now for 50yrs after moving from London UK so this was special for me.. There is so much history attached to this man, here is a brief version. David Thompson Seymour, third son of Thomas & Matilda Margaret. Born Ballymore Castle, 5th Nov 183. Died London UK, 31st Jan 1916. Educated Ennis College Ireland. Served as Commissioner for Queensland Police 1864 - 1895. Established the original Detective Force here in Queensland in 1864. So many other achievements and improvements are owed to this man. Well done Sue and thank you again. Blessings 💕🇦🇺

    Well , From what you have shown us , it looks as if possibly four people are interred in the mausoleum. At least two of the enclosures are damaged and open . A little spooky but considering the location you may wonder if visitors have come and gone over the years and possibly attempted to obtain entrance. Everybody says RIP but when it comes to any mausoleum I doubt that’s the case. Sue , your doing a wonderful job . Thank you. Paul, St Petersburg, Fl.

    Wonderful video Sue. Isn't the little graveyard beautifully kept? I was amazed at how easy it is to read the inscriptions on most of the tombstones despite their age. Somebody is caring for those resting here. How awful that the mausoleum was desecrated. I can't understand the mentality of people who disturb the rest of the dead. How would they feel if somebody did that to the graves of those they love? Don't upset yourself over negative criticism. You don't owe them any explanation or even the courtesy of a reply. From old experience I will only offer criticism which is positive, benefits the recipient and leaves them the better for it and hopefully happier too. And of course you know you have a great big family of supporters here including me❤❤❤

    Aw Sue, please stop apologising…if other folk cant understand, then it’s their problem. You do drive such long distances to show us such fascinating places, not to mention all the research you do beforehand. If you were paid by the hour by each of us, THEN you might be able to afford top quality camera and recording equipment. But you do the very best you can with what you have, which is to be applauded, as they are just great! So to those who read this and do complain, stop and think of what Sue does for us,the results she gets, and please stop complaining!
    I for one am thrilled to travel Ireland with you and Irish Eyes from the comfort of my arm chair, and find the history You can share with us to be riveting. I especially loved your visit to that Fairy Glade cemetery,With graves dating back to 16/1700’s! And the stone masons work on some was amazing. (I’m hoping you may go back when the brambles die back???) however this was amazing, though sad to see those graves in the mausoleum looked to have been ransacked. They used place bodies in blue silk like fabric in lead coffins, which were then sealed, and placed in outer casing wooden coffins for appearances, so to me, all those graves looked to have been ransacked as I said. Surprised nothing was done when the door etc was repaired, as next time family go in they will be faced with all of that!!…no respect at all.
    Anyway, despite the wind,rain and whatever else God thought to throw down that day, I was riveted, and it was a nice touch to show photos of tge Castle etc . Well done Sue and Irish Eyes! I’m getting my suitcase packed ready for our next exciting adventure with you, and will look to see where I can make a petrol donation at least to help out. Love from Helen in England! 🙋‍♀️🥰💕💐💐👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🙏

    The Mausoleum is very cool! I wonder if they removed anything from the structure above, that looks like a church, and put any remains below?
    Strange Mausoleum to say the least!

    HI and thank you! I think the mausoleum was never completed, it appears to be missing statuary. The spaces on each side of the staircase should have contained sphinx and the Gothic top should have included something more christian like an angel or a jesus., The overall structure seem to cross trends, Egyptian meets Gothic. Your contribution is amazing !

    What an adventure and what a find too..What you was seeing was the top of the coffin so it was the arms bent upwards and to the left you could see the skull.I hope these ghouls when went grave robbing got the shock of their lives.It’s rare,even the wealthy are buried with jewels so I cannot see why they think there’s money to be made in doing this.It looks like they have damaged each of the coffins in their search..If they found something I hope it did not bring them much luck. I appreciate what you do Sue .Unfortunately this side of the world the weather is unpredictable and there will be bad days where it affects the sound.Your doing a great job ..Love n Light 🥰

    I can't believe that cretins would break into a mausoleum!!! Some people have no respect ... I hope they are haunted every day of their lives for disturbing the peaceful rest of the dead! I know that these are 'empty vessels' - but they DESERVE to rest in peaceful slumber. It's despicable!!

    • @SerenitySueGraveyards
      @SerenitySueGraveyards  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SerenitySueGraveyards
      We certainly do all meet our maker, Serenity Sue.
      It was lovely to see the Seymour Mausoleum, though. I was very shocked and disappointed to learn that it had been broken into.. I just don't understand such disrespect.
      I've been keeping an eye on the number of large mausoleums in the US that have been going broke, and closing their doors.. Many are declared abandoned! So much for the 'perpetual care' that they've paid for! It doesn't take long then for the urban explorers to make the knowledge public - and then in come the vandals and grave robbers. And again, so much for 'eternal rest'. Apparently the skulls and long bones are prized by occultists, and they fetch a hefty price on the black market. It's an absolute disgrace, and yet there are dozens of these these huge, privately owned mausoleums that are currently in deep financial trouble, some are already declared unsafe for visitation, and more than a few are already abandoned by the owners. This is often because the original owners die, and bequeath ownership to family members who aren't interested in owning a mausoleum. They often misappropriate the funds set aside for the perpetual care of the mausoleums (by US law this only needs to be 5% of the sale price of each crypt), and the next thing there's no money left for repairs or maintenance - and other similarly horrific stories abound - but one way or another they end up becoming abandoned, still with thousands of human remains inside them, only to be vandalised. It's a very sad state of affairs.
      This situation is very different, being a family mausoleum - but it's no less sad to me.
      Kindest regards, JW.

    • @SerenitySueGraveyards
      @SerenitySueGraveyards  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is sad news, we don't have many in Ireland only a few scattered across here and there, its sad, I'd love to have a mausoleum in my family and I would for sure care for it but then after my time who would be interested? No one I'm sure, I'm simply fascinated by mausoleums, not only the craftsmanship but I also love the history, now if I can get inside I will but I'd never break inside one or attempt to damage for a look inside. How anyone can do this I just don't know, they too inside lived a life had children worked hard etc, respect is the main thing ❤❤

    • @j.whiteoak6408
      @j.whiteoak6408 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SerenitySueGraveyards
      Thank you for your lovely replies, Serenity Sue!
      We don't have many snall family mausoleums in Australia either - and to the best of my knowledge there are no large mausoleums here of the type I was talking about in the US - but I consider that to be a good thing for our own countries .. as in 100 years there'll be hundreds more of these huge decaying buildings all over the US - filled with thousands of human remains that no one remembers or cares about. I don't think they're ever going to prove to be appropriate alternatives to ground burials.
      But I certainly understand the appeal of small family mausoleums. Some of them are really beautiful (Have you ever see the mausoleums in La Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentina? OMG - what an incredible place! I hope you'll find a documentary about it on TH-cam if you've not seen it! It's where Eva Prron happens to be finally buried, after her corpse had a very interesting, if totally disrespected history of its ow!). But on second thought, family mausoleums in our cemeteries will always be targeted by those nasty, disrespectful few who would rob us blind in life as well. How pathetic is it that even our decomposing bones aren't even safe in death? That requires such wicked depravity!
      I think that I will stick with aquamation (aka alkaline hydrolysis) and have my ashes spread to the four winds.. I mean, I realise that I wouldn't know if someone dug me up or stole my skull out of my coffin in a mausoleum vault for the purposes of witchcraft - but I'd prefer not to give the wicked cretins that opportunity, LOL! I'm so glad I found your channel : )
      Kindest regards,
      Janell W.
      By the way, one of THE BEST TH-cam videos I've ever seen about La Recoleta Cemetery is on "Vic Stefanu" channel. It doesn't show the topside of the mausoleums, though (I HIGHLY recommend that you find a separate documentary on TH-cam to see those!) Instead Vic used a Go-Pro to film the vaults beneath some of the oldest mausoleums in La Recoleta (some are 200 years old) and it shows us the finest and most beautiful and intricately carved timber coffins in true olde-worlde Argentine style. I was moved to tears the first time I saw it! Many are piled one on top of the other, whilst others are still surrounded by little altars with old lace and candlesticks - it's such a strange thing to see! I've never seen anything else like it in the world, and I would love to see it for myself one day. I do think you would very much enjoy Vic'z video and the cemetery too, Sue! 🌹🌹🌹

      I actually have no idea, it's intriguing maybe the Seymours owned the land and let the community use the area, I know the wall was something that was added later on, did you notice the red circle I put on a grave out side the walled cemetery?? If not take a look and pause to read the info ❤❤ it's a sweet little story
