I have Quest 3 and PSVR 2. My Q3 is in a weird spot because the PSVR 2 has completely spoiled me in terms of gaming with how good the graphics are, the haptics, the OLED black levels and contrast, etc it’s incredibly immersive that gaming on the Q3 isn’t the same. On the flip side I tried the Apple Vision Pro out for the 2 week return period and it’s the best tech I’ve ever used and the AR is incredible, the display resolution, the hand and eye tracking, the shadows and flow from windows, and above all else the Apple Ecosystem built right in with iCloud and everything is a GAME CHANGER. The Quest 3 definitely has it’s place, but feels like child’s play for games and AR after using PSVR 2 and Apple Vision Pro
I have both too, glad to have them both. It doesn't feel that there's one clear winner for me at least. Quest 3 is an awesome fitness headset, it is more comfortable most of the time, and if friends are around I'll give them Quest 3 as a hustle free experience. PSVR 2 yeah WOW. It really makes me awe the visuals. Haptics are on another level too. But wires and lack of sound system kinda ruins it. Still it is a go to headset if I don't need to be physically active
I have both. I can't say that one or another way worse or better. But they kinda compliment each other. If you want always crisp image and no wires - pick Q3. If you want deep blacks and bright vivid colors, higher FOV - pick PSVR 2 Still think both heads are awesome! Especially for their price
Most VR glasses include a solution for people with glasses. Quest 2 has thin plastic insert in the face interface to increase distance to accomodate glasses. Quest 3 has advanced face interface that can slide in and out to increase distance. Best in that sense is PSVR 2 - it has halo strap, so headset sits on your forehead not your face, and lenses can be shifted to any distance, which makes most glasses possible. However! As a man with a large VR experience I should warn you of two things: 1 - I still think it's a risky endevaour to use glasses with VR. You see the VR glasses are not made from glass, they're plastic. They scratch easily by your (metal) glass frame. Scratches for VR could be an end for expensive hardware. 2 - By adding distance to lenses you'll compromise your VR experience. It will be still fun, but worse visuals then normal. Not that bad for Quest 3, but for others - quite worse. Image will be blurrier, FOV narrower. But I have a solution for all of that - you either use contact lenses or add prescription lenses inside your VR headset. Companies like Zenni VR or VR rock will get you covered! Happy VR experience my friend!
@@gregorygeorge8695 yeah idk why he moved on from that segment so fast and almost seemed to dismiss it even though it’s far superior for strictly gaming
Only difference is the optics. The 3 has new and improved optics and the 3s has the lenses from the 2. The lenses are really what you’ll be paying the extra for
It seems like BigScreen Beyond should have gotten a mention as a successor to the Valve Index. Being the lightest headset with the best microphone and microled displays should count for something even if it does have a wire.
This is a consumer channel. Meaning "what devices can a regular person walk into a store and buy" All the underground hyper enthusiasts' devices aren't what this channel is about.
@@mashy712 True but the title says AR and VR and the Meta Raybans aren't VR, so clearly you don't have to have both to qualify. I think the Valve Index has been replaced by the BigScreen Beyond for the top tier wired PCVR use case.
Unless you need a new macbook 3.5 THOUSAND POUNDS is utter extortion. I really want a new headset this year but i just know were going to hear about the Quest 4 the fricking moment i walk out the shop door with a Quest 3 under my arm.
Nah, the 4 isn't getting announced until late fall of 2026 at the earliest. The 3S just launched, which means they'll be leveraging the capabilities of the 3 for a lot longer. The 3 is a great system
Okay, I guess this video "needed to" be pushed out quickly before the holidays, but it's a little strange to say that you "need" a PS5 to use the PSVR 2 and then only at the end course-correcting and saying that it works on PC now. And yes, for most modern GPUs it's true that you need an adapter, but if you own a GPU with an integrated USB-C port, you don't! =)
Quest 3 is great but your enjoyment of a product should be based on the experience it provides and NOT how much you paid for it. Imagine if Quest 3 was $1,000 at launch. It would be illogical to not praise what it can do just because of the price.
Yes. An extremely expensive headset from a sketchy company with janky software and a multitude of troubleshooting headaches.. something average consumers absolutely want to deal with. Did I mention you need a PC with an RTX 4090 to even make the most of a pimax?
You failed to mention Pimax Crystal Light which blows all VR headsets out of water. Meta Quest 3 is the only option for the average VR / AR user. But if you have more money then Varjo XR-4 and Somnium VR1 which you also failed to mention.
They all do similar things, but I'll break it down for you. Apple vision pro: best for productivity if you own apple devices. Highest quality displays. PSVR2: great for gaming only, requires PC or PS5. Has HDR and Oled displays Quest 3: best all around device. Use it for Gaming, working out, productivity, and socializing. it has a massive ecosystem already in place and can be used with PC to further enhance the experience. Quest 3S: worse displays, but same as Quest 3.
Cnet just lost my subscription, when you make such a BS list, ignoring all the alternatives. Did Meta pay for this commercial, or was this old goat too lazy to try other than Meta? I will agree, that Quest3, probably is the best all rounded at that price range. But there are several VR headsets, som are a LOT better on certain areas! And calling the "Best" should be devided into segments, because you often see new VR headsets shine in 1-3 areas, but then they dissapoint in 1-2 other areas. At least "best VR" should be divided into price groups. Best around 250, 500, 1000, 1500, +1500.. - Pimax Crystal Light - Not better allround, but has a lot better visuals. - Bigscreen - Has the best comfort - but got a glare problem - VR1 - will probably win the best visual and FOV - but a lot more expensive - Varjo XR4 is also leagues better than Quest - just also in another pricerange.
Its cnet. They talk about consumer devices. I get that your hurt because they arent talking about enthusiast grade VR systems, but that's just it, the average consumers aren't going out of their way to buy an expensive PC and an expensive headset. Meta and Apple are the biggest players in the consumer space with standalone HMDs. Apple might be expensive, but they're also Apple, a company known world wide, with loyal users. Then we have Meta who already has had VR headsets on retailers' shelves for over a decade now. The other systems just can't compete in the consumer space and are geared toward enterprise.
PSVR2 is my favorite but if someone doesn't have a PS5 they should go with a Quest 3 or 3S. You're not gonna get the AAA games PSVR2 has, but you'll still have an amazing selection of games, that while not graphically on par with PSVR2, will have the advantage of no cable, so you can John Wick to your heart's content, without tripping over the cable. If you have a PS5 go with PSVR2, the graphical difference and AAA games are worth it.
I have a PSVR2 and a Quest 3. Honestly, regarding AAA games I'd say the Quest surpasses the PSVR2 because its exclusive titles like Batman Arkham Shadow, Asgard's Wrath 2 and Assassin's Creed Nexus. Plus the AR stuff like live sports, concerts and productivity that the PSVR2 simply doesn't have. There's not much on PSVR2 that isn't on the Quest. Granted the performance/graphics are scaled back a bit on Quest versions of games. I do like the haptics on PSVR2 but hate the wires. I just wish Sony would release first-party games for PSVR2 but their recent strategy suggests that isn't happening.
