I've had a a Quest 2, and bought the Quest 3 on launch. I've been streaming VR content for a couple years now. My thoughts on VR is that it is my preferred way to play games, especially PC VR games and the Quest 3 is the best headset on a budget to do it with. It's not the Apple Vision Pro, but it can do a ton of things that the AVP can't do and has the backing of Meta. That may be a good or bad thing depending on your own personal view of Zuckerberg. The reason everyone says to switch out the headstrap, is that when you get a comfortable headstrap like the Bobo VR S3 it let's you keep playing for hours with the hot swappable batteries, and the pressure that the headset puts on the front of you face is lifted more to your forehead and the whole thing gets more balanced with the battery as a counterweight. As for accessories I personally would NOT got with the official Meta accessories. There are 3rd party options which are much better at a much lower cost than what Meta has on offering. If you plan to use VR a lot comfort really becomes a must, between the facial interface and knuckle grips for the controllers, to prescription lens inserts for people that wear glasses. It makes a world of difference when you spend a lot of time in VR.
Thank you for this detailed comment, I have a question that I hope you can give me an answer for, is the official strap that bad? because where I live there's no third party straps available, also for the battery I plan to use a power bank but idk if that gonna work.
@@dread_yt really appreciate it! Started looking at some accessories today and realized I’ll probably end up going with the third party options. Really looking forward to trying out some knuckle grips and a head strap

The Meta Quest 3 was a huge improvement over the rest when it comes to reasonably priced consumer headsets! My only ask for next gen would be for them to go back to including a direct displayport connection for those of us that do want to use it as a dedicated PC VR headset and need ultra low latency. I get why they don't as most users use it wireless, but there are still many of us who need the processing power from a PC for high fps demanding games. Sim racing & flight sims for example. Using the USB connection is not ideal although it does "work" somewhat.
I've been in around the vr space for 5 or so years and its been amazing seeing the vr space grow form a tiny part of the gaming space to something that is on the cusp of becoming mainstream :D
You just haven't used a proper head strap yet.. :) you won't die with the stock one.. but after using anything even slightly better you will not be coming back. BTW, 3rd party great head straps are under $50.
I also think the standard head strap is OK, but if you want longer play sessions or extra battery power, a strap upgrade is a huge bonus. I am using the Kiwi K4 boost. Modding your VR gear is ingrained in the culture of VR. It is by no means essential, but the possibility to do so is nice.
Excellent video quality mate, keep it up. Been an early adopter of VR since 2016 and I'm so happy the hardware has improved so much and headsets like the Quest are helping more people get into VR.
If you want unlimited playtime without charging, I'd look into getting a replaceable battery headstrap. Infinite wireless play time AND the improved comfort.
Lag and response time are super important for VR, because even small delays can cause intense fatigue and nausea. Having a consistent frame rate of 90 is base.
For the weight distribution, attach coins weighing 500g in total onto the rear of the strap (this is the same weight as the front). Then it will feel balanced and comfortable
I also got my first Quest in 2019 after going to an Arcade and trying it for like 20 minutes. I played Richie's Plank Experience and after that I became obsessed with the idea of VR and the freedom and possibilities it could offer.
I bought the Meta Quest 3 when it first arrived on the scene. VR is the only way I do gaming and have done so for several years before I got the Quest 3. I will not go to flat screen gaming. The immersion of doing "SIM racing" games is unbelievable for me to feel like I am actually sitting in the drivers seat. I only do sitting down games for right now. I may do a few other things with VR, but still is mainly used with my PC games. Thanks for your video and views of VR.
@@dathyr1 any sitting down games recommendations? Just been streaming flat screen games to VR as of now but been looking for something fun to play when I don’t feel like moving lol
@@chettystudios Hey, The new Behemoth game I saw in a video review has an option for Sitting. I have Racing games like Automobilista 2 (AMS2) or any type of racing game. Also any Flying games. Of course it is better if you have a steering wheel controller for racing games. Most of my games I get from STEAM for my PC. I think allot of my games work sitting down, it is how you setup your default Boundries and floor levels with the Quest 3.
Getting a quest 3 soon, honestly, the reason I'm getting into this is because I'm already enough fed up with normal gaming, I've been a gamer for as long as I have memory and I already have the pc and consoles of my dreams, so why not doing something special and unique for once? Btw, I feel like the next step for VR are VR glasses, like the ones you usually see in futuristic movies, since we already have pretty high quality VR at home, and improving that quality won't attract people who already h8 VR for one thing or another (for example, motion sickness), but MR feels like something far more practical for most people than gaming, but the reason why it isn't really that good rn is cuz you can only do it in your house, as you look extremely d-mb with any current VR headset outside, including the apple vision pro that was marketed around this, and of course, why using MR at home when you can just use VR? there's really not that much difference between the two if you think about it like this, and it's not even like there are many MR experiences rn, but if you could take this outside without people looking weird at you, just imagine the amount of things you could with it, like watching videos or streams in a big, high quality screen outside, for example, and I think _that's_ what would attract the most people that rn see VR as a sorta niche
Totally agree, I tend to used MR more and more often throughout the day now for different tasks but like you said, I would never go out to Starbucks looking like this. Going to be interesting to see what they come up with in the future as far as that goes. For gaming it definitely gave me that “holy shit” factor that I hadn’t really felt that strong since getting the Wii when it first came out, so hoping it does the same for you! I’ve been pretty bored with regular gaming lately too but between this and going back to play old games (playing through mass effect trilogy right now) I’ve been keeping myself pretty busy at nights
VR is so rad, and it really has gotten so much more usable and accessible. I do find the stock facial interfaces kinda scratchy and uncomfortable and definitely recommend an upgrade. I also love having hot swappable batteries so running out of power mid session is never a concern. Then I think having some sort of VR mat to keep you centered in your play space is the most useful and underrated piece of kit to have.
I’m still concerned about 2 things: resolution and hardware/CPU specs. I haven’t tried Apple Vision, but people say that the jump to 4k feels adequate for longer term use, esp for daily work productivity users (which I’m more interested in than games). Problem with Vision though is to get there-plus adding other advanced features that Apple often incorporates-it’s a heavy rig and power hungry so there’s a definite trade-off. CPU is the other issue. The 3 and 3S seem like an intermediate solution with just enough power to kinda handle most current use cases, but will probably feel sluggish with all the advances very soon. In other words, budget goggles are “turning the corner” but only just without much lasting use. MR seems maybe barely to the point of mass adoption/usability, but the hardware won’t really be robust enough for a few years yet to be broadly capable of the software (which hopefully will just get lighter, more powerful, and higher res in that period).
I tried and got pretty sick lol but been slowly changing the setting to make it less and less aggressive until I get used to it and it’s definitely way more immersive
I have thought about buying the Quest 3S since 1080p for me is just in the movie section but I think I will go for the normal Quest 3, I want to have a 4k screen so that my eyes don't get so tired because it is less blurry.
I've always just referred to that weird vr grip as just vr grip I had the same issues you had with my quest 1 but like a week or two into playing on it I got used to it and now it's just second nature with the new 3. still getting used to not having the ring anymore just some weird subconscious things I can't do anymore.
Definitely still getting used to it myself. Kinda reminds me of the N64 controller where people who grew up using it like it, but if you aren't used to it already its a really strange thing to play on
The controller straps are very very nice. The controllers just hang on to your hands without any effort. I went with the charging stand which also replaces the batteries with rechargeables. I have a Bobo VR halo-type headset strap with replaceable battery on the back. This does add a bit of mass that you feel when turning your head quickly, but it does double the game time (or more if you get another battery). Virtual Desktop is really the way to go as you have already seen. I suggest changing the streamer app on your computer to use VDXR for handling XR as it allows me to run Oculus apps well with having to use Link Air.
I forgot to mention: This headset "strap" also allows me to remove the facial interface part so that the headset is now open air. Some will claim this ruins immersion, but I prefer having everything cool and I prefer the open feel.
Going to be taking a look at this thank you! Just did my first VR workout yesterday and the option to have open air facial interface seems like it’d be great
Nice vid, one thing you should absolutely look into is 3rd party accessories, Meta charges absolutely ridiculous prices for the official stuff and it’s by no means worth it at all
I don’t think standalone is quite there yet, but pcvr with a very powerful gpu is worth it now in my opinion. But still not perfect. Hopefully the next quest pro/ high end version of the quest 4 is better
The only issue for somebody like me is I can’t do VR in my office (not big enough) so I would either need to run wires to my living room or move my PC everytime I want to play VR
@ understandable. I did a similar set up with a dedicated router in my living room and it was only 1 Ethernet cable that ran to my pc. Then used virtual desktop. Worked pretty well
yo if u think batman was good, u should try our Half Life Alyx. it is the best vr game ever made and that isnt from opinion. Its on steam and just connect ur vr to ur pc.
My problem is I have the Quest 3 as well and the PSVR2 but the PSVR2 is so much better on the gaming front I rarely use the Quest for that anymore. And after spending 2 weeks with the Apple Vision Pro before returning due to cost, the mixed reality, the software, the Apple ecosystem integration is top tier and unlike anything else it’s something that you have to see. The Q3 while budget friendly and has mixed reality, it’s really not on the same level so it’s hard to not compare
great quality video and u covered some good points, thank u for this. im still deciding on whether to buy the 3 or 3s, ive been wanting a vr headset for a while and i know im gonna use it a lot when i get one, im just not sure on if i should get the 3 or 3s, im planning on just playing games and watching movies and videos on it, also planning on using it on my pc, to play steam games. what do you think?
I haven’t tried the 3s so I’m not really sure how much the quality and experience differs but maybe there’s a place near you where you can try them both? Not sure if BestBuy still does demos or not
Get the 3, the 3s reuses the Fresnel lenses from the quest 2 and is harder to find a sweet spot for clear vision, there are only 3 IPD settings, and you can get god rays from the rings in the lenses. Quest 3's pancake lenses are clear from edge to edge, and the IPD is a slider that you can get perfect for your eyes.
@@simony2801 passthrough mode allows you to see your environment while in VR. you can stick the screen you're watching on a wall and continue whatever you were doing while in VR
I have a question about the quest 3. if i dont have good wifi where my pc is but my pc is connected by Ethernet can i play pcvr on the quest 3 and play normaly?(without using cable)
You need to have a strong wifi signal near the PC. I bought a dedicated wifi router for my PCVr gaming. Just run the ethernet cable to the wifi router and then direct connect the computer to the wifi router via ethernet output on the back of the wifi router. I'd recommend Virtual Desktop for connecting to the PC for gaming.
wifi speed has nothing to do with how smooth virtual desktop will be its the stability of the connection so yes you can use wireless pcvr without good wifi
Are you saying that your wifi signal is weak where your pc is? The headset needs to communicate with the pc over the wifi, so you would get the best results being closer to your router instead of the pc. It definitely helps a ton to have the pc wired with Ethernet though. You could set up a second dedicated vr router next to your pc if you would prefer to play there, which is what I've opted to do.
I got my Quest 2 literally a couple months before the Quest 3 came out, and I mean, it works for me, but I just struggle to use it. I don't have anything that I want out of it. A lot of the games are social VR games, and while that's cool and all, I've been bullied to death for being trans, and now it's just made me really isolated and lonely, so I just don't bother. I want to get back into VR though, and have that same excitement that I once had for it, but I've yet to come across anything that excites me. I just play Beat Saber from time-to-time and play on mute while playing things like RecRoom.
@Sienna-v4t maybe try some more solo games, there’s a whole bunch out there I can’t wait to get my hands on people keep recommending me. Sometimes all it takes is one good character to really get you back invested into gaming and re-light that spark
Hello I am a content creator on my other channel from Cambodia and how do you get in contact with meta because I also want to try my luck and requested for a review as well please guide me
Just bought the Quest 3 and it's truly the best device I have ever used. INCREDIBLE!!! The pancake lenses make the experience so much better than the 3S
Idk I think a lot of mixed reality non-gaming stuff could be useful to adults like answering email, pulling up multiple windows for multi tasking, etc. and there’s some pretty solid games that aren’t really for kids at all but genuine solid video games like Metro
The VR is worth it long time now, since oculus rift cv1. Now in 2024 such a headline is or clickbait, or you my friend was sleeping beauty for last 7+ years. Btw, pass trough means nothing to me, as I want to be immersed in game world and not in real one.
Totally get that for enthusiasts and people into VR gaming its been "worth it" for a while, but this is more so for the average consumer/person who isn't "in the know" like myself who walks by the VR displays at Target or Best Buy but doesn't have the extra cash to dish out for something they aren't certain they'll really get their money out of. I think with mixed reality adding another layer of usability and the cheaper price being a bit easier for folks to swallow, its more "worth it" now than ever before for the average Joe.
bro only find out about vr or somthing this crap been out for like 2 years & the new one is ass anyway F buying meta feel like they as bad as the apple fanboys

Used vr for the first time on the quest 1. Have the quest 2 and. 3. Totally hooked on VR 😊
Can't wait for more people to get their hands on these headsets.
i bought one like last week, worth it for me
i will be getting a strap upgrade cause of battery though
You want immersion?? Turn tunneling and vignette off in batman and every other game and it will help 100 percent
I tried and got pretty sick lol but been slowly changing the setting to make it less and less aggressive until I get used to it and it’s definitely way more immersive
If you like the jedi outcast / academy games, I highly recommend installing the vr mods for them on your quest!!
I have thought about buying the Quest 3S since 1080p for me is just in the movie section but I think I will go for the normal Quest 3, I want to have a 4k screen so that my eyes don't get so tired because it is less blurry.
Worth it
Amazon, bobovr headstrap $50 not the pro version, then amvr silicone controller grips $20. You will NOT regret it!
I’ll check it out thanks!
once you get an aftermarket head strap, you won't say that the stock is good. but i agree... not the worst
Just did my first VR workout yesterday and the option to have open air facial interface seems like it’d be great
honestly the man-bun probably adds allot to the comfort :p
not even joking.. it just looked like it locked in!
@@unfinishedsente not gunna lie it kinda does lol
Nice vid, one thing you should absolutely look into is 3rd party accessories, Meta charges absolutely ridiculous prices for the official stuff and it’s by no means worth it at all
@@lewisgray4202 looking into some right now, such a big difference in price
Great video. Keep it up!
@@warbearin thanks!
Got mine a couple days ago the standard head strap is fine. But ordered a new one anyway for the extended battery
Worked pretty well
Damn TH-cam ads getting out of control. 8:36 seconds long?!
Try underdogs/half life: alyx. Unforgettable vr games, both are really good
You have a sick fkin home man.
Damn, those plants are gorgeous.
@@SubjectiveFunny appreciate it!
yo if u think batman was good, u should try our Half Life Alyx. it is the best vr game ever made and that isnt from opinion. Its on steam and just connect ur vr to ur pc.

Get a custom head strap, please it is worth it if you like longer sessions.
I love the idea of Apple making a VR headset and it just seamlessly being a part of my Apple ecosystem but yeah, that price is crazy for now
great quality video and u covered some good points, thank u for this. im still deciding on whether to buy the 3 or 3s, ive been wanting a vr headset for a while and i know im gonna use it a lot when i get one, im just not sure on if i should get the 3 or 3s, im planning on just playing games and watching movies and videos on it, also planning on using it on my pc, to play steam games. what do you think?
I haven’t tried the 3s so I’m not really sure how much the quality and experience differs but maybe there’s a place near you where you can try them both? Not sure if BestBuy still does demos or not
Get the 3, the 3s reuses the Fresnel lenses from the quest 2 and is harder to find a sweet spot for clear vision, there are only 3 IPD settings, and you can get god rays from the rings in the lenses. Quest 3's pancake lenses are clear from edge to edge, and the IPD is a slider that you can get perfect for your eyes.
With PCVR its been worth it. With amazing batch of recent standalone titles, its deffinelty worth it!
I bought a used Meta Quest 2 for $80 yesterday! The revolution has begun!
Btw remember to clean the strap and facial cover before using jt
@zeenxdownz how to delete the lesbian porn she left on it? 😄

i actually cook in passthrough
More details please
@@simony2801 passthrough mode allows you to see your environment while in VR. you can stick the screen you're watching on a wall and continue whatever you were doing while in VR
That would be so good for following recipes and not getting anything dirty by touching a screen
VR has been worth it since the original Oculus Rift, imo.
I go for runs with my quest 3 even on sunny days and no lense burn
just got one

Nah bro, that head strap felt like someone strapped a rubber band around my head. Now I have a headset with a battery and a fan!
@@Rsmith420 haha I have a smaller head so maybe that helps, but I got a new strap on the way so I can see what the hype is all about
I have a question about the quest 3. if i dont have good wifi where my pc is but my pc is connected by Ethernet can i play pcvr on the quest 3 and play normaly?(without using cable)
@@chip6044 if u have slow wifi, it gets delay and worse quality
Yeah as long as you connect to PC via Ethernet and the headset has good connection you’re fine

Idk I think a lot of mixed reality non-gaming stuff could be useful to adults like answering email, pulling up multiple windows for multi tasking, etc. and there’s some pretty solid games that aren’t really for kids at all but genuine solid video games like Metro
Quest 3S ✅
Quest 3 ❌
been worth it since 2016
The VR is worth it long time now, since oculus rift cv1.
Please gift me the vr headset, you convinced me
Im sorry but strangers arent going to gift you stuff. U can save up birthday money tho
just wait to you jump on steam and play some real VR PC games..
