Hiya pete just wanted to reply I been a fan of your videos for ages I just wanted to say your awsome I love your vids enjoy seeing your collection grow I know you get lots of horrible comments so I thought I would leave a nice one for ya :)
Only 1 game ever made me cry...Metal Gear Solid [PS1]. I waited and waited to buy it, beat the demos hundreds of times. Finally got it, played it fanatically for days, got to last boss on disc2 and my brother stepped on my PS and broke the disc before I could beat it. Sure beat the shit out of my brother tho.
Persona 4 made me cry a little too but it's the farewell scene at the end that did it. The characters are so likable and you spend so much time with them so I really felt like I was saying farewell to good friends I had known for years.
However, you had to laugh your rear off when you saw Johnny (Akiba) walking around with a huge brown stain on the seat of his pants after he craps himself in that one battle scene.
(SPOILER) I remember crying at the end of the last main mission of Red Dead Redemption , where John gets shot.. I was seriously feeling like I was dying slowly with him as he faded away. really powerful scene / game!
Replayed my save of that scene. I'd try my hardest to shoot down as many as I could knowing full well he's bound to die. That game was a masterpiece, almost don't want a sequel due to how great it was.
So epic...I love those rare moments in games where everything is orchestrated in such a way that it makes my eyes tear up...Not in the sense that it's sad so it makes me tear up, but in a way that it's so masterfully created and beautiful that it gives me chills and my eyes tear up.
Final Fantasy X (My favorite Final Fantasy game of all-time) almost made me cry near the end of the game especially the melody music in the ending. Am on the process of beating the game again but this time in HD remastered edition on the PS3 and Final Fantasy X is so far THE only Final Fantasy game that I've beaten multiple times. When i was a kid Super Mario Bros 3 made me cry out of frustration because i kept losing if my memory serves me correctly.
Fighting the great grey wolf Sif after encountering his master Artorias in Oolacile. Incredibly subtle, remarkably touching. Dark Souls story-telling at its finest.
The ending to the Walking Dead left a hole in my heart, I was honestly sad for the next week or so and I remember waking up in the morning and thinking about those characters.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, the ending made me pretty emotional, a game I can't recommend enough if you're willing to get used to the games unique controls.
Lost Odyssey. Everything in that game made me tear up. The scene with Lirum (people who've played will know what I mean), 90% of the 1000 Years Of Memories, Tolten overcoming his issues, even Sed finding his mama. Incredible game. EDIT: I typed this up before seeing the whole video. I'm glad to see LO on the list. Made me blubber like a schoolgirl
It was brave of you to do this video, and I could see you struggled, but I think all of us that have played a long time know where you're coming from. Good work here. Would like to see more similar content in the future.
OMG someone else feels the same about Klonoa ending!! It's never mentioned in the usual 'top ten' lists on youtube, but it really was a tearjerker ending. Also for me were the ending for E-102 Gamma in Sonic Adventure, the ending cinematic to Kingdom Hearts, the ending to Tiny Tina's DLC in Borderlands 2, What happens to Agro (YES it is Ag-ro not Ar-go) near the end of the game in Shadow of the Colossus. If you want to legit cry over a game that you have never even played, watch the ending to Valiant Hearts
Yep...Lost Odyssey, that's probably the most emotional JRPG I've ever played in my entire life and I've played through many(all the classic Final Fantasies, the Chrono games, Grandia series, Lufia, etc, etc). It explores the theme of immortality. If anyone else is looking to play it, make sure you have a box of tissue on hand because everything from the Thousand Years of Dreams to various scenes in the game will make you cry...and even when you're not crying from actual sadness, you'll still want to weep at how beautifully the story is told. Fantastic game, really. It's one of my all-time favorites.
Man I love the music, art, and feel/presentation of fragile dreams. That fuckin exact scene you are talking about made me so sad, I just had to set my controller down and stop. I wish to someday give that game another go, I think I got about 10 hours in before I called it quits and just really should try to finish it through. It was definitely a flawed game but there was so much neat and interesting stuff to that game
animefreakincs I didn't think I was going to go back so like I freaked out because I had to leave Pikachu so I started crying when I realized what was happening.
Oh, the whole of ICO makes me want to cry, it's just so wondrous. I remember renting it when it first came out and not being able to finish it as it was just so stark and emotional an environment,,, I'd just stand there panning the camera round, listening to the sea and the birds for 10's of minutes at a time... incredible game.
I also cried during the end of Final Fantasy 9. But the game that made me cry the most is Xenogears, in practically every scene the music box theme played. That is still the most emotional game experience I ever had.
Awesome video Pete. I cried at the end of Final Fantasy VII, which I know I'm obviously not the only one. I also cried at the same moment as you did in The Walking Dead. That game was sooo powerful and sooo well written and the father daughter sort of relationship that was developed between Lee and Clementine was beautiful and painful to watch :( And finally I'm just going to say I lost count of the amount of times I cried playing through The Last of Us.
Final Fantasy 6,7,9, and 10 Grandia Lunar Xenogears Diablo (not for the traditional reason, the fact that I accidentally deleted my character I put countless hours into)
I'm right there with you on SotC, Ico, Klonoa, and FF9 of course. Didn't cry too much was pretty emotional. I skipped the Lost Odyssey part in hopes that I will get to it someday.
The end credits of Ocarina of Time. The beautiful music coupled with the realization that the adventure is over actually made me depressed for awhile because I didn't want it to end.
Lost Odyssey is one of the few games that actually made me sob. Games that got me teary-eyed; Flower, Journey, Final Fantasy X, Heavy Rain, The Walking Dead, The Last of Us, Valiant Hearts, Red Dead Redemption, Metal Gear Solid 4. Just to name a few.
(SPOILER) I will say 2 games that made me cry would be Final Fantasy 7 on Playstation and Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on Super Nintendo. The reason for Super Mario RPG is that in the end when you defeat the final boss, one character, Geno, turns back into a doll from a spirit that was from the Star Road. I felt bad that he turns back to normal but that song I'll never forget when everything turns back the way it did and I got a tear out of me. And, yes, Final Fantasy 7 is the first and only in the series, so far, that made me cry. The scene where Aeris or Aerith got killed and I was destroyed inside. It even reminded me of my grandmother's funeral in December 2010. After beating the end of Disc 1, I told myself, "I have to beat this game and kill Sephiroth once and for all!" And that's why FF7 is my favorite Final Fantasy right now.
Every time I beat Kingdom Hearts 2 I shed a solemn tear, but I just finished Persona 4 Golden with the true ending for the first time, and man did I cry pretty hard. Anyway, fantastic video Pete, good to see you uploading more frequently again.
How did I know Klonoa was going to be number 1. That was my exact number one pick myself. Funny, because most of my friends also pick it first on their list. You're right, this list could go on for quite a while. A recent game that comes to mind for me is one of my new favorites of all time- Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The whole last part of the game was both deep and moving. I sat in awe and tears at the end. Indescribable.
Yay, someone else in the "cried at the end of FF 9" club! That was my first (and to date, only) "proper" RPG, and I loved it. I've heard a lot of people say it was a weak entry in the Final Fantasy series, and I have no context to judge that, but all I know is it was about all I could handle.
Honestly a lot of my emotions in games come from just reaching the end. If it's a game that I'm really loving, I get a sort of heavy-chested sadness as the credits roll knowing that it's over. There are always replays but the first time always really means something to me.
Gears of War 3 was the first game to make me cry. I sort of went through middle school playing that series on my Xbox 360 and a certain obvious scene made me shed a few tears.
Persona 4 really kept me teary almost every high emotion parts of the story, specially on when characters accepted their shadows as part of who they were. And just yesterday I watched whole anime-serie based on that game in one go, and god dammit, I've never had such high volume of tears of joy and sadness-day in my entire life.
There's really only one game that made me shed a few tears. And that's Brother's: A Tale of Two Sons, specifically whenever the older brother died by getting poisoned by a giant spider and the younger brother had to carry him back to their father.
The end of "Red Dead Redemption", was, pretty sad, I was, like "Noooooo, why???". After everything John did for his family that was unfair. It was even more, sad, because John knew, that he has to sacrifice himself in order to save his family.
Final fantasy crisis core just shred my manliness the way you struggle, protect your soldier honor and sacrifice yourself to your friend cloud just hit the spot at the very last battle.
In no particular order. The Last of Us Flower Shadow of the Colossus Shenmue Final Fantasy 8,9,X Flow Donkey Kong Country 2 (maybe not when I played it back in the day but now when I go back to listen to some of the soundtrack, gets me so emotional)
Ocarina of time when the credits come up and that music plays over the footage of all the characters dancing, and the end of FF6 when you don't know if Terra is dead or not
I think the first game to me cry was Glover 64 I cried because Glover died and I blamed myself for that. I was really little. But movies and games still make me cry a little bit sometimes. That's healthy.
After playing Lost Odyssey, TLoU, ICO, SoTC, The Walking Dead, Heavy Rain, etc. no game has made me actually cry like To the Moon. I cried from sadness, happiness, to just the beauty of the game. Even though the gameplay is straight forward, I highly recommend this game to anyone so is into story driven games.
14:05! YES. I have never cried so much after beating a game like I have in Final Fantasy 9. It was basically one of, if not the best gaming experiences I've ever had. LOVE IT.
The walking dead will always be a special game to me and I will say that I gave out a good few tears because it is such a stunning and emotional ending that really affected me. Just Beautiful :)
No games ever made me cry but I do remember feeling sad and happy after beating a game that I was really invested in. A couple jrpgs and ocarina of time come to mind.
I totally I agree with you Pete about The Walking Dead I was balling and I rarely cry. The last of us was emotional as well, geez something about zombie games with these emotional scenes.
Mine have to be To The Moon and Professor Layton and the Unwound Future that actually remember crying rather than just getting emotional. Two fantastic stories with great endings.
Drawn to Life the Next Chapter did it for me at the end, so did Bravely Default, Dawn of Mana, Rune Factory 4 (on several occasions) Shadow of the Colossus, Fire Emblem Awakening, Legend of Zelda (most of the games at least once)
Am I the only one who thinks Pete looks like a young Jonathan Davis(Korn lead singer)?? Lol Keep up the good work Pete, your vids are always entertaining.
Nice video pete. I hope you get the chance to getting around making a top ten games for last year still lol. and see what games youve been playing this year.
Valiant Hearts The Great War is stupidly emotional. Not just because of it's beautiful presentation, but because of the fact that the story it explains really happened in real life.
If you are going to spoil something please mark that part of your post with (SPOILER) so that people have a warning. Thanks.
Hiya pete just wanted to reply I been a fan of your videos for ages I just wanted to say your awsome I love your vids enjoy seeing your collection grow I know you get lots of horrible comments so I thought I would leave a nice one for ya :)
Chrono Cross...Kid's Story. First and only game that squeezed a tear out.
I cried when I first played Big Rigs.
Tears of disbelief.
lol! big rigs!? dude! that's a bad pc game!
The Last of Us had me choked up in the first 15 minutes of the game. I think that is what really got me hooked on it.
the saddest moment in final fantasy 13 for me was realizing ill never lose my virginity
I bawled my eyes out at Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons fairly recently... That ending... oh my...
The Last Of Us was the first game where I felt sad and almost cried
Mario Kart made me cry. I was in 1st place, fucking blue shell and well you know the rest. ffuck
Shit man ;( I know that feel
I know how you feel bro
😄😄😄I understand
It's been 6 years.
Were you able to recover from the trauma?
Persona 4 made me cry a little too but it's the farewell scene at the end that did it. The characters are so likable and you spend so much time with them so I really felt like I was saying farewell to good friends I had known for years.
Golden ending though makes it happier not just good bye forever
I felt exactly the same!!! It was so fucking sad for me.
carl moore I know the feeling.
I cry at almost every pokemon game. It's weird but I've grown attached to this series.
I cried at the ending of crisis core.. That ending with that song.. Every time i re watch it the emotions comes back
The endings of Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4 really make me feel sad. Can't recall if they've made me cry but the end of Big Boss is masterfully directed.
However, you had to laugh your rear off when you saw Johnny (Akiba) walking around with a huge brown stain on the seat of his pants after he craps himself in that one battle scene.
*****
That's not in the ending.
masalps I didn't say it was. :) Just pointing out a funny moment. Made me shed tears, but shed tears of laughter.
(SPOILER)
I remember crying at the end of the last main mission of Red Dead Redemption , where John gets shot..
Red Dead Redemption 2 coming out this year So Excited!
This will sound stupid but I don't care. The ladder climb in Metal Gear Solid 3 with the theme in the background.
Yes.
So epic...I love those rare moments in games where everything is orchestrated in such a way that it makes my eyes tear up...Not in the sense that it's sad so it makes me tear up, but in a way that it's so masterfully created and beautiful that it gives me chills and my eyes tear up.
Dat thumbnail dough.
The Walking Dead is the most emotionally-powerful game I have played that I can remember.
Mordin's death in ME3 almost made me cry
Final Fantasy X (My favorite Final Fantasy game of all-time) almost made me cry near the end of the game especially the melody music in the ending. Am on the process of beating the game again but this time in HD remastered edition on the PS3 and Final Fantasy X is so far THE only Final Fantasy game that I've beaten multiple times. When i was a kid Super Mario Bros 3 made me cry out of frustration because i kept losing if my memory serves me correctly.
FIFA 14 made me cry when I was beaten by Stuart in the shop
Lol
Fighting the great grey wolf Sif after encountering his master Artorias in Oolacile. Incredibly subtle, remarkably touching. Dark Souls story-telling at its finest.
I'm amazed The Last of Us didn't make the list.
I would think that Valiant Hearts would be here.
To the Moon is by far the most emotional game I've ever played.

What an excellent idea for a video, Pete :D
Really great picks too. Thanks for sharing, my friend!

The end of Conker's Bad Fur Day. >.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon made me bawl, specifically Red Rescue Team.
RogueZangoose Oh isn't that the GBA one? I still have that one.....the feels are real. T~T
animefreakincs I didn't think I was going to go back so like I freaked out because I had to leave Pikachu so I started crying when I realized what was happening.

Gone Home was the most recent emotional roller coaster for me
omg lost odyssey one of my favorite games, I cry every time that I play and I reach that scene you talk about... so damn emotional
The walking dead, such a heart breaking story.
Got pretty emotional at the end of halo 4.
Both of the Zero Escape games got me REALLY emotional. 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors and Virtue's Last Reward
Awesome video Pete. I cried at the end of Final Fantasy VII, which I know I'm obviously not the only one.
I also cried at the same moment as you did in The Walking Dead. That game was sooo powerful and sooo well written and the father daughter sort of relationship that was developed between Lee and Clementine was beautiful and painful to watch :(
And finally I'm just going to say I lost count of the amount of times I cried playing through The Last of Us.
when grunty says "just you wait for banjo-threeie" at the end of banjo-tooie i shed a tear for rare's wasted future
Final Fantasy 6,7,9, and 10
Grandia
Lunar
Xenogears
Diablo (not for the traditional reason, the fact that I accidentally deleted my character I put countless hours into)
I was thinking about making a video of exactly this format and you've convinced me.
Nice ICO T shirt.
I cried when Argo fell into the depths in Colossus. ; (
i've never felt such a betrayal from any game ever than when i played klonoa
Lost Odyssey is one of the few games that actually made me sob. Games that got me teary-eyed; Flower, Journey, Final Fantasy X, Heavy Rain, The Walking Dead, The Last of Us, Valiant Hearts, Red Dead Redemption, Metal Gear Solid 4. Just to name a few.
Tetris made me cry like a baby. I mean you'd have to have no heart to hold back the tears when those blocks fell. Deep stuff.

Brothers: A Tale of Two sons made me cry a lot
(SPOILER)
I will say 2 games that made me cry would be Final Fantasy 7 on Playstation and Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on Super Nintendo. Eternal Sonata
Final Fantasy VI Opening Theme
(Nostalgically) Pokemon Red Route 3
Final Fantasy Tactics - The MANY unexpected deaths.
The end of "Red Dead Redemption", was, pretty sad, I was, like "Noooooo, why???". After everything John did for his family that was unfair. It was even more, sad, because John knew, that he has to sacrifice himself in order to save his family.
What a coincidence, I just uploaded the last part of my Klonoa LP and talked about how much I cried the first time I saw the ending. :3
Final fantasy crisis core just shred my manliness the way you struggle, protect your soldier honor and sacrifice yourself to your friend cloud just hit the spot at the very last battle.
In no particular order.
The Last of Us
Flower
Shadow of the Colossus
Shenmue
Final Fantasy 8,9,X
Flow
Donkey Kong Country 2 (maybe not when I played it back in the day but now when I go back to listen to some of the soundtrack, gets me so emotional)

Ocarina of time when the credits come up and that music plays over the footage of all the characters dancing, and the end of FF6 when you don't know if Terra is dead or not
Walking Dead Season 1 was super intense and emotional, loved it
the jak and daxter figure is there again! i can't watch this video knowing it will never be in my possession
klonoa is the only one game that made me cry, and I've played a lot of games.
Some of the memory sequences in Lost Odyssey were heartrending...
I love Persona 4!!!!! Great list Pete, what a smart idea for a video
14:05! YES. I have never cried so much after beating a game like I have in Final Fantasy 9. It was basically one of, if not the best gaming experiences I've ever had. LOVE IT.
I agree. Pretty much the only time I know of that made me that emotional playing a game. Fantastic game and my favorite FF.
I cried when Blinky caughty Pac-Man...you did it man.
The walking dead will always be a special game to me and I will say that I gave out a good few tears because it is such a stunning and emotional ending that really affected me.
Just Beautiful :)
FF9 YES! same here dude and it's your favorite final fantasy, makes me like you even more dude. it's my favorite as well. another awesome video.
Never cried over a game. Saddest moment though was Zack dying at the end of Crisis Core.
I like that jak and daxter statue in the background and awesome vid
great idea covering those spoilers Pete!
I shed a tear at the end of every Kingdom Hearts game simply because they are that inspiring to me.
Gotta admit, Fi's farewell made me pretty emotional.
Drawn to Life the Next Chapter did it for me at the end, so did Bravely Default, Dawn of Mana, Rune Factory 4 (on several occasions) Shadow of the Colossus, Fire Emblem Awakening, Legend of Zelda (most of the games at least once)
That statue in the background is beautyful.
Am I the only one who thinks Pete looks like a young Jonathan Davis(Korn lead singer)?? Lol
Keep up the good work Pete, your vids are always entertaining.
*SPOILERS* Red Dead Redemption broke my heart. I was so immersed in that world and story so it was like losing someone I know irl, sad but true lol
A game which made me pretty sad at times was Alundra. A couple of deaths accompanied by the beautiful Requiem song. Such an underrated game.
Final Fantasy XIII sure made me cry a lot, but that was because of the quality of the game...
I LOVE that FFIX is you're favorite FF game, i thought no one agreed with me one that one.
Enjoyed this video Pete, very good video
You really go the extra mile for your viewers Pete! :)
Nice video pete. I hope you get the chance to getting around making a top ten games for last year still lol. and see what games youve been playing this year.
Wow that first game really was touching I'm going to get it I want to see the whole story thanks and keep up the vids
Valiant Hearts The Great War is stupidly emotional. Not just because of it's beautiful presentation, but because of the fact that the story it explains really happened in real life.
Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core made me ball out in tears. Zack.... that ending :,(
