What a negative perspective of a wonderful place to live. The weather is a great balance between winter and summer. There is about 5 weeks when its a bit too cold and 5 weeks when it's a bit too hot. The rest of the year is comfortable in shorts or a sweatshirt. We have long Springs where the air smells like smells like perfume from all the blossoms. We also have coclorful Falls that rival the north east. The pleasent weather affects peoples attitude making most very friendly and willing to help. Like any city, we have rush hour traffic, good neighborhoods and bad. I have lived all over the country, and I can say that Charlotte is great place to live and retire!

a great place to live if you like the violent homeless in uptown chasing women into stores. The incompetent people who run this town, the loser schools (I lost count how many schools have a 2 rating!!!) the town is a dumpy ghetto with BoA, Truist and Wells being the only draws

As I approached retirement and was considering where I wanted to live, I heard a radio talk show about how lofts downtown were being developed. That sounded perfect for me. But a few years from retirement I discovered a new neighborhood in Davidson, and realized that living in a college town with a lot going on would suit me even better. It has worked out well for me. I find myself going into Charlotte less than expected, since there is so much going on around here.

This is a really good summary of the quirks of Charlotte. It's true the burbs are growing faster, traffic is congested, summers are hot, but the other things really make up for it. I really hope the charm doesn't go away totally. It's an amazing community with people who genuinely care about their neighborhoods. It's probably a good thing that some people are moving. Slow growth is the best thing for the city not to lose what's best about it so people assimilate as opposed to replace the culture.

Hello! I’m originally from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I miss the cool Dutch weather (maybe not all the rain) but after 14 years living in south Florida, Charlotte’s weather seems like a dream compared to hot Florida! I know it gets hot there, but it doesn’t last for 6-7 months straight like it does down here in FL. Maybe it’s changing, but it seems like you still have 4 distinct seasons. We are very focused on strong school districts as well. We love Ballantyne, but prices there are out of reach now. Currently looking at Fort Mill, SC.

According to the US Census, Mecklenburg County added 4140 net new residents in 2020, a positive number, even though it was the year of a pandemic. The source you used only looked at July 2020 to July 2021, a small window in which Mecklenburg was net negative ~2000 residents, likely due to the impact of remote work. Mecklenburg ended net positive ~8800 in 2021 and has added net ~18k in 2022 and ~20k in 2023.
Also, the Blue Line does not end at Uptown. It goes all the way to UNCC in Northeast Charlotte, a total of 26 stations across 19 miles. You failed to mention the gold line too, which currently has 17 stops along 4 miles. There is a plan to expand it to 10 miles and 37 total stops.
    Solid clickbait though. Happy sales!

this town is a giant ghetto. We got here, I talked to a few people from my birth country who would jokingly ask what I did to get sent here. Then I realized why the jokes. It's a banking center run by sociopaths and malcontents. People only come to Charlotte for the better pay then get out asap. dentists are more scarce and more expensive than in Fort Lauderdale. $390 to pull a molar vs $700. $370 for echo/ecg at cardiolgist vs $800+ in Charlotte. My household income is 6 figures and I question the real estate prices in most areas. Basically, in a good area where the schools aren't a total dump (most schools are rated 2-3 on GreatSchools) you're looking at $500,000 for one of those single floor, red brick style houses

@@hlatino03 well if you think the Billy Graham library or the NASCAR museum, the number 1 and 2 things to do in Charlotte per TripAdvisor make it a cool city then bless your heart.

Agreed! 85 should have been included. 277 an honorable mention too. Are you local?

Define charlotte? You are insane saying Yankees are moving out. There are 5000 a day moving here please stop coming here.

What are you kidding me? You’re telling me people are leaving because of snakes. That shits crazy. Snakes were here way before us. That’s God’s creatures. There are several reasons to leave there. And it’s not because for damn snake.

Not a reason I'd leave but I get to meet a lot of people, I hear more reasons than most. Where are you tuning in from?

As I approached retirement and was considering where I wanted to live, I heard a radio talk show about how lofts downtown were being developed. That sounded perfect for me. But a few years from retirement I discovered a new neighborhood in Davidson, and realized that living in a college town with a lot going on would suit me even better. It has worked out well for me. I find myself going into Charlotte less than expected, since there is so much going on around here.

Davidson's a great spot, sounds like you made the right decision.
