    I'm impressed by anyone who can successfully rebuild an automatic transmission. What is even more impressive is that he knows how to rebuild HUNDREDS of different brands and models of trannys. Not to mention the manual transmissions also.

    Kinda general question. Ford 6R140 in a Superduty 6.7. Is it necessary/recommended to change/flush fluid in a working transmission as part of a service interval? Dealer told me to just change filter and top-off. I've heard generally speaking to never fully flush an automatic if it's in good working condition. What's your opinion and why? Thanks!

    I used to have a motto never use a rebuild transmission they never lasted long now I know why they didn’t last long rebuilding a transmission for 400 bucks is way different than fixing what actually made it fail in the first place and it’s way more expensive.

    • @even_i2622
      @even_i2622 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@keltecfan I’m definitely well aware but he has said several times in the comments it’s a 6l80 and I’m trying not to question his expertise. I have a 6l90 from a ctsv in my car (2010 Camaro ss) which is why i was saying this because I swapped the 6l80 for a 6l90.

    • @keltecfan
      @keltecfan 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @even_i2622 I don't know who's posting the comments, but I do know a 6L90 when I see one. I've rebuilt plenty of 6L80/6L90 transmissions. If you look up a pan gasket for the 6L80 & compare it to the 6L90, you'll find that the 6L90 has a distinct 45ish degree angle behind the TCM plug. The holes for the valve body to center support are in different positions on a 6L90, the 6L90 also has the six pinion planets. I assume that there's a few rebuilders that watch Richard's videos, myself (retired) included. I'm not here to crap on his channel. I've enjoyed watching his videos (as a paid subscriber) since the beginning of their Precision Transmission channel. I thought it was a typo initially & even asked for clarification. I'm not the only viewer who has suggested that this is a 6L90. I suspect that it's someone other than Richard who's been commenting that it's a 6L80. Anyway, I do wish them the best of success in their new location.

    • @even_i2622
      @even_i2622 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@keltecfan I’m with you I too thought it was a 6l90 which is why I was a little confused and didn’t want to try and correct my betters. I thought maybe there was something I wasn’t aware of so I was trying to give the benefit of doubt. As I said I have a built 6l90e with all circle d parts which are probably relabeled sonex parts. I could be wrong, I don’t build they I try to destroy them lol and my tuner try’s to keep it alive for me. I watch Richard’s vids so I can learn about how transmissions mechanically function and that so maybe the next time I destroy mine I might rebuild it myself. Thanks for clarifying the video at hand I appreciate it.

Frankly, if they still build 'em I don't see any financial sense in rebuilding them. Throw away stuff. The era of hydraulicly controlled transmissions is coming to an end. Say hello to VFD electrics and goodbye to friction clutches. I'm betting 5 or so years until the fluid couplings are gone forever.
