  • Remember that bike I struggled to get started well here is my review of it. It has had a bit of a rough life but is still running strong.

    I've owned a 93 FZR600 for 25 years now, was my first bike. The front suspension was too soft from the factory. I stopped riding for many years after almost crashing at a high speed when I hit the front brakes trying to avoid an animal and the handle bars literally pulled right out of my hands. A few years back I took the time to replace the springs in the forks with higher rate springs and slightly thicker oil. Still on original clutch and brakes. Its been a good bike.

      Had a 94 brand new back in the day. Those stupid fork seals failed in the first year. As I recall I put in progressive springs and new fork seals and it made it much better.

      I dumped my 96 twice and then stopped riding it. I'm selling it now. It looks like the value went up quite a bit

    I have the identical year fzr600, identical look. Also took off the side fairings cause it's my first bike and kept laying the thing over. It still runs great at 29k miles. I swapped the fork springs for stiffer race techs, replaced with a busa rear shock. Rebuilt the carbs with factory pro emulsion tubes, and a dynojet kit. I will say sometimes parts are hard to find. That fairing stay for the front is practically impossible to find for a reasonable price. $400-$600 at least. The rear tire is a 18inch, you can't really find tires that size. The fzr communities when they were still active suggest swapping the rear with a 17inch gsxr rim. You get some higher take off speeds with the smaller rim. The petcock, there are rebuild kits, and you'll have to do some light sanding on the valve disc to get it flat again. Keep an eye on the gas tank, old bikes, the liner goes out, had to remove surface rust, and reline mine. I do have all the fairings, I dream of a future where I'll do some fiberglass work, and make replacements, but still trying to weigh in whether it's worth the time.

    Probably just need carburetor cleaning and idle adjust. Hope you can find foot peg and front fairing. It's a nice looking bike for the age. Love the FZR's.

      Ironically the carbs were rebuilt and tuned. It was running fine for the week leading up to the review then by the end of filming things just started coming up. Honestly I had a blast riding it but the previous owner before my friend kinda beat it up into the state it’s in now.

    I have that exact bike and love it. If they are taken care of they are very dependable bikes. The bike was originally made for the track so yes they want you to have boots on. The cluster should all light up and parts are very easy to find for this bike. If tuned right you can get 108 hp out of it.

    • @freedommotoproject6110
      @freedommotoproject6110  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      wayne oliver I thought they had about 100hp from the factory

    • @wayneoliver4643
      @wayneoliver4643 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      98 hp from factory with a bhp of 78 if performance mods like stage 1&3 jets with a stage 2 clutch can achieve 108 without dyno tune. Ive seen as high as 126

      Still great bike love mine. But now days the 600 class is putting out more from stock. But they still cant handle like the fzr in corners and that is where real races are won

      That’s what I was getting at later is that it’s not bad but it needs work. Most fzr 600s I see need some tlc. Due to their low value not many people bother fixing them.

    Ive owned a few different bikes all 500cc. A buddy of mine has 1997 Yamaha fzr600 for sale I'm thinking about getting it smart move or should I look for something else? I'm a decent rider been riding for four years now just have never rode anything over 500cc. What can I really expect outta this bike?

    • @freedommotoproject6110
      @freedommotoproject6110  ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean I can't give too much input as this one was a mess. I think thats a fine bike to jump to if you have been riding that long on that size cc. Shows you learned how to ride before hopping on something crazy.
      My concern is depending where you're located country wise this bike may easier to find stuff for. In the US it's harder to hunt down parts due to its age. Also I'm not sure if you wish to deal with carburetors. If those 2 things don't bother you I think its not a bad deal to grab one. Just be mindful it may be an older 600 but it's still a fast bike. Be careful and have fun.

    man you really need to improve the reviews, it was better if you havent done this fzr review, 90% of the "need to get used to" its youre bike problem , i have a 1989 fzr 600 and i dont have to get used to any thingh you mensioned , that bike got many things broken, missing and in bad shape. it looks like youre speaking generaly when its not the case.

      I appreciate the feedback. Everything you have said has been mentioned before though. I know I was focused on this bike a bit too much. Currently (not sure if you have noticed the dates on the videos) the channel has been put on hold due to things going on in my personal life. As much crap as I said about it I do actually love this bike and have many times thought about buying from the owner to fix it up to its former glory as it is not my motorcycle. So again thanks for the feedback and sorry my videos aren't really that great
