Here in Australia, I'm the proud owner of a 1997 9000 AERO 5-speed in near new condition. I bought it off the second owner of 22 years in August 2023. Would love to hear about the SAAB V8.
In c. 1993, I was a young lad on holiday in Australia with my family. We were staying at the Sydney Airport Hilton and I bought a magazine called 'Wheels' which featured the new 9000 Aero against the then-new BMW 5-series estate and.. something else, can't remember. But the black 9000 looked amazing and the magazine was very complimentary of it... music to my ears as earlier that year we had also taken delivery of a new black 9000 CS turbo. When I hear Saab and Australia together, that memory jumps to mind. Still have the issue somewhere in storage. Best from Ireland!
G'day, is it possible to tell me the month of that Wheels magazine. I'd love to source it as I've been unable to find any period road tests for the 9000. Thanks
Well I must say I find your text offensive! I've no need as a Saab enthusiast to PROVE to you I have a 9000 AERO. All I will say is I've been trying to find a decent one for many years, as most have been thrashed and looked after poorly - the youngest examples of these cars are now 27 years old. It doesn't help that Australia is a big country and having to travel interstate to view a car 4 sale which is often not as described re its condition is a real pain. The one I have came up locally 4 sale only half an hour from me! It had been bought new in South Australia by a doctor in 1997, who drove the car until 2002 when he could no longer drive due to failing eye sight. It was bought in January 2002 by its second owner who lived in Sydney. He had it shipped over and owned it till 2016 when he died, his adult son kept the car as he couldn't part, due to its link to his dad - keeping it garaged and serviced till August 2023 when he decided to sell. It is silver with black leather and it still has its deep dish AERO alloys and its in stock condition apart from a Quaife LSD (Limited Slip Differential) which the second owner fitted (I have a ton of paperwork of service receipts which came with the SAAB). If you feel I've made all this up well I can't help that. All I'll say is I'm driving a lovely Aero with no rust which looks new, testament to its caring father and son ownership of 21 years before I bought it. It is now up to me to keep it in as good condition.
Excellent video. We had several 9k in the family and I still own a 95 9000 CD Griffin. Just one detail; according to Saab themselve, the CD denomination is supposed to mean Classic Design. Cheers
I went backwards - had a 1999 95 Griffin V6, great car loved it, only sold it as went overseas. when I came I "fluked" getting a 1997 9000 Griffin v6 with only 32,000km. 9000 was a far superior car to the 95 in quality & handling. (sadly lost smoke/water damage in a basement carpark building fire)
Erik Karlsson The nickname was not "Mr Saab", it was "Erik Karlsson On the roof". "Erik Karlsson On the roof" was a character created by the the same author as created Pippi Longstocking. Nice video!
My family had a '92 Saab 9000. Worst car ever, no question the worst investment my parents made. It was reliable for maybe 2 years and quite literally failed us in every sense. Even the dealer was stumped as to why it was so unreliable. We junked that car after only 8 years. I can honestly say, I am not at all surprised Saab is no longer around. That company owes my parents a lot of money.
Oddly enough our 1993 9000 was also troublesome from new, although we put it down to living a hard life. We also had problems with new Volvos so, just the way it goes sometimes.
I would like to see a video about that concept V8 by Saab.. excellent video btw man. Subscribed!
Hands down best made and researched Saab video I have ever seen. Thank you!
Took me a while to sum that one up, glad you liked it! 🙃

@@marknelson5929 Mark I sent you a link to the Wheels magazine a few weeks ago - but I don't see it here. Did you get it?
Wouldn't mind a 900 video also. My fav saab model

I don’t understand why you haven’t taken off yet. These videos are fantastic

My family has the same experience. Last Saab we bought.

The CS Carlsson was 225bhp, not 270. Also i dont remember giving you permission to use videos of my car.
he dont need permission. its out on the internet. and that most definitely isn't your car :)
Watch out, the UK’s no. 1 Laidback Luke fan and SoundCloud DJ is going to take you to court over a video clip of a SAAB
Is it your first day on the internet 💀💀
