This is the worlds best car ever. I owned over 20 of these 9000 and had alot of fun, they never brake down on me. Loved the 9000 so much. But now I dont see them anymore here in sweden. Now I drive my 9-5;)
Two years ago I replied to your excellent piece on the 9000 - I can now say after much looking I've bought a lovely 1997 SAAB 9000 Aero, 5-speed manual as of a few weeks ago here in Australia. I'm only the third owner, the second owned it for 22 years and looked after it extremely well. It presents like a car that is 4 years old, it is immaculate, I feel very fortunate.
@@theclassicsaabguy236 As i live in denmark, and tuning is almost illegal the second you touch anything. Mine is still stock. But i have tried some with 300-400 hp. Insane what you can do with an almost 30 year old car.
Even though SAAB went too far, being owned by GM: they still went their own way. Totally. That is way I have three of them. I only hope, that Koenigsegg will buy them, since the auto-brand is still alive. Imagine Koenigsegg and SAAB together. Mindblowing.
thewisetent you have that model !! Lucky you ! I've owned one 9000 many years ago and after doing the research for this video I'm now thinking I want another ! (To go with the three 900's and the 90 ! )
Excellent history lesson. Bought my 9000 eco anniversary with 14k miles from main dealer. Sold it at 200k+ miles, engine and gearbox still perfect. Best, safest and most comfortable car I have ever owned. Sold it during the scrappage scheme, no rust on it whatsoever. Worst decision of my car life, even more so after watching your video.
I got my hands on a super cheap 98' 9000 2.3 HPT Jubileum with over 350k km on the clock. It has definitely seen better days, but waiting a full restoration this spring/summer. Can't wait to get started. It is been in winter storage this winter. Great video! :D
I used to have an H reg Saab Carlson exactly like the one at 3.45 .I was the second person to have it as a company car and bought it when I left the company .It was a real tank being involved in 2 accidents in a week! The second wrote of a Sierra and I got a smashed light! I now have a 2002 9.3 convertible . (and a Volvo though I will whisper that!)
Brilliant, a concise and straightforward over view of the 9000 range - I learnt a lot. This has helped very much in my understanding of the range, especially the 9000 Aero.
Hi Mark - glad it was useful. Yeah I discovered some of the model range nomenclature can a bit confusing as some designations vary between countries as well like you said with the Aero.
I've been looking at purchasing a 9000 Aero, quite rare in Oz. In fact all 9000 models seem to be quite rare here, compared to the 93 & 95 and earlier 900s. Cheers.
Mark Nelson that's interesting - I know Australia did get many Saab models not found in Europe or America so wonder if they didn't get many 9000s ? Found out recently that Australia got late 900 EMS models for a few years after it was discontinued in Europe for example
I could be wrong of course, I'm not part of the SAAB community at the moment here in Oz. I'm sure members of the club here which is quite enthusiastic (in all states) can confirm 9000 import numbers etc. Have a nice weekend.
Mark Nelson you too mate and I welcome to the channel - I run a Facebook group of the same name if you're not already a member - good for chats and tips !
Nice video although a little confusing - when you talked about the facelifted sloped front at 3:13, I think you were talking about the CC/CD models, but showed a picture of the CS.
My father had a 9000i from 86, he bought it brand new. The car never let him down. Was fuel efficient for its time and fast. More luxurious finish than a merc or a bmw. And the early model 9000 is the prettiest in my opinion. Such a shame that GM willingly killed Saab under the moto that it’s technology was not allowed to fall in Russian hands. What bullocks is that. Saab had it’s most loyal drivers from all car brands. The last 9-5 was a beautiful car.
Yeah I liked those early 9000 models with hatchback design - it's never been the model I went for and preferred a 900 but I've actually started to quite like the 9000
i LOVE my SAAB 9000 1997 model. I love my 1996 one too, but it does not work any more and sits sedately in my garage. So, I have two out of the 503,087.
Mine was a 1993 cse, 5spd manual, it was rear ended and totaled by a drunk driver, in the middle of the night. I cried the next morning, but I long for another one.

congrats on the buy! enjoy your Saab! drive safe!
Love the video. I hope your 9000 is still enjoying life! Mine blew a brake line. A new pre made line comes tomorrow! I hope the swap.goes smooth!
I own a Saab 9000 Aero 2.0 from 1997. Brilliant car. And produces alot more horsepower than what people imagine.
Yeah they're really tunable too so people get crazy horsepower out of them

Woke up to this video! Loved every minute of it. I think I'll wash and wax my 1997 9000 CDE 2.3 Turbo today :P

it will cost 1million in 30 years- a price of a good house. And in 50years it will be priceless

Yeah you don't know how many times I've sold a Saab and regretted it ! I'm starting to learn !

Great video! :D
How did the restoration go?
My 2.3T 1992 running with 420hp sins 2006 and 290000km stock engine, never renoveted. Runs just fine.
That's encouraging

My first car was a 2ltr, 1987 SAAB 9000 (this was back in 2002). Awesome car, miss it.

Yes, the 95 was beautiful, but much less reliable as the 9000.
Perfect! Well done. Very interesting! Many, for me, new facts!
Jimmy Galle - thanks Jimmy ! Glad you liked it !
The lens glare in the intro and outro sequences is so intense I almost thought I was watching a Michael Bay movie
Stumbled Upon this Channel & was not disappointed. Keep up the excellent work. 👍
Brandon Brando thanks Brandon ! More fun Saab stuff to come
I genuinely hope to own a 9000 turbo as my first car. I’m so head over heels.
Awesome channel, just found n love immediately.
Good video, now have I learnt some new things!
Rickard Waara thanks ! I actually learnt a little too as I've only owned one 9000 and a bit too obsessed with 900's 😛
@@theclassicsaabguy236 That is an great thing! I can understand your issue :)

You're lucky to have two ! You should get the 1996 up and running ! What's wrong with it ?

I'm trying to save up for a 9000 :c I have a 1998 coupe 9-3 wish I've Restored : )
Hope you find a good 9000!
One thing I cannot accept in Saab 9000: standard ignition/key placement. NOT Saaby.
Saab 2001
Sono tutte bellissime 👍
