Brian I can’t thank you enough for this video. As a new fly fisherman this is incredible information. Also being in NW Wisconsin we have many very small stretches of water where you are in very confined conditions. This will be a casting game changer. Thank you and God bless.

After a break of some 25 years from fishing I found my casting somewhat a bit rusty. I've watched all your casing videos which have now enabled me to be able to cast as well, or even better, than ever. Many thanks.

That was an excellent video especially using a roll cast to get rid of slack prior to making an overhead cast. It also allows you to re-position the direction of the line. Good tip!

I had a friend take the time to show me the roll cast and it's a life saver. In Kansas we don't often have the luxury of a bank without brush or lack of overhanging trees. If it wasn't for the roll cast, fly fishing here would be very frustrating. Thanks for posting!

I thought about asking the question on how to make another cast, when nymph fishing, to get the line back out there without doing another false cast.. and boom, you covered it in this episode. I've been practicing a lot with the practice rods you've mentioned in a previous video. I can now double haul like the pros! Like you I find myself double hauling whenever I false cast. Thanks for all the lessons! I left Ohio a few months back. I used to fish for browns around Springfield. Too bad I didn't know about you then. Keep up the Great work, Brian! -Ken

This is going to help me a lot. The rivers in my area are lined with trees and getting line up in the air behind me is a recipe for a bad day. I’ll add this to my practice along with the traditional cast.

I happened to watch this video before I went fishing on our local lake. I found I could fish way easier using the roll cast with fewer problems. I seemed to have mastered it way quicker then the standard cast. While using this cast by chance I ended up using a heavier fly and was really able to work my way smaller to where I was putting my fly where I wanted. Thanks again for your videos.

Thanks for the videos.. everyone's intimidated by flyfishing but it really is very easy. This video helped me catch my first trout on a flyrod.. damn near hit my daily limit on my first day practicing roll casting the day after I watched this video. Thanks for the priceless knowledge. Anyone can whip a fly around but I find that flyline enjoys being in water . Keep it there and just flick it wherever u want. It's so badass. U can spend a lifetime learning the ins and outs but all it really took was learning how to tie 3 knots and understanding the roll cast. And ur gonna catch fish.. gotta work on managing my extra unspooled line better but Im only two weeks in and I feel like I am one with the rig.. like I can cast an use my right hand to slow my line and make my fly land with the leader tight. I dunno if that's a good thing or not.. if I'm supposed to or not but it just kinda came naturally.

About all the fishing I do is on small rivers, about 4 to 6 feet deep, and about 14 feet wide, and usually I'm on shore right next to massive pine trees. This ends up being my best bet for keeping the flys catching fish and not birds.

You all taught me so much over the years. Hope all is well. One question. I bought new SA MPX fly line. Of course the Seller at the store told me the extra weight would help with roll casting but I'm pretty sure he lied just so I would pay for the most expensive line because it's terrible a roll casting. Is that typical with that line or is it me? Thank You

Which line are you using? I have a hard time rollcasting since I feel that I can not get the d loop to load the rod sufficently. I am using a floating line with a front taper of 7' and a fast action rod. I suspect that such a setup is not optimal for spey casting since I have an easier time spey casting with my s3 line that has a very long front taper of 18'. Do you think that my gear or my technic is the problem? I am from Sweden so therefor I appolagize for poor English.
