    Very glad to see this video, I never knew that the Injector ports could get so dirty!

      Hi buddy, they get so dirty from the rust that builds up on the injector body due to injector getting hot and cold and building condensation. It could be a lot worse if the copper seals were leaking. You could have oil, diesel and carbon too. This one was fairly easy to clean as it was just dry rust on aluminium🤝🏻

    Thanks for sharing. Nice common sense approach. My garage fitted new injectors without cleaning them first, it left the washer all pitted from the deposits left on the seat, and leaked. The injector failed a short time after. I also removed the glow plugs (diesel engine) and blew compressed air down that hole, to blow any muck out of the cylinder and injector hole that might have fallen in. I also put grease on the end of the ebay reaming tool to help catch any bits of metal it might have shaved off. Always worth taking your time to do the best you can.

    Don't forget to clean the upper part of the injector holes, that's where there usually is a seating for a plastic bushing on the injectors.
    If it's still dirt there the injector might not seat properly, because the plastic bushing get stuck. Make sure you get metal contact between the copper washer and the bottom when you install the injectors.
    If not you probably will get a leak after a while.
    I did not and got a leak after a few days of driving.

      Was it a BMW or a different engine in your case?

    I just wonder how many hours you have put on this N57 engine all together (including filming).
    I would suggest you to make a homepage with links, then you can organize your videos in a much better (for the viewers!) way. For instance, lets say N57 2011 F25/X3.
    1) The most important thing first that's the engine model.
    2) To make it somewhat simple, the model year (MY)
    3) In which car the entity sit.
    4) Maybe the VIN code of the car, then everyone can compare the part numbers to see if they are different themselves.
    You can't do this too complicated! The ones that do this kind of jobs have done simpler repairs before, so they are avare of where auxiliary problems can be.
    By the way very nice to see how you solved this issue!

      Thank you. I worked on this project for a few months in my spare time. It is hard to calculate the exact amount of hours but it is a lot of hours. The editing takes even longer than the actual work. I am glad you like the videos, I have a lot more to edit 😊

    Great video. Do you recommend using the soft brass brushes over the reaming tools to clean the injector bores?

    • @TheKeenMechanic
      @TheKeenMechanic  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would use the soft brass brushes first. Use the reaming tool very gently too if no big issues

    The injector seals are still leaking on my bmw n47 engine after cutting the seats and replacing copper washers. What should I do next?

    • @TheKeenMechanic
      @TheKeenMechanic  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not sure why that is as there are many factors that can cause this. Surface flatness
      Contamination of surfaces
      Correct size of copper seals
      Quality of copper seals
      Correct injector bolts
      Correct torque on bolts
      Modified/remapped engines
      and so on.
      If you can't do it yourself I would advise you to get help from someone with more experience🤝🏻
