The interesting thing is, the Yoshies you play as in Yoshi's Story are technically baby Yoshies, so there's a chance Totaka never meant for adult Yoshies to sound like that. But then Nintendo kept on using the voices for all yoshies. Ever since Yoshi's Story, regular Yoshies have also had much more cutesy proportions. It's almost like everyone just forgot they were babies in that game.

I remember this game. My cousins had given it to me with his old wii for Christmas, and he had already gotten to the end game. Sadly I didn’t know how to play, and I was also pretty bad at the game so I never managed to experience it. I cold have started a new file but the wii was my first console and I didn’t know how any of this worked, so my main memories about the game are just of me running around on the Mario-shaped island climbing trees. My favorite part of the Galaxy games by far is that they have so many creative and unique ideas, but you never stand still on them for too long. You get just the right amount of time with them where you feel like you've really used the full functionality of the mechanic, but not so long where it becomes a bother. If people were to ask me an example of good game designs, I would point here first, no question about it.

Though yeah, for 1 player I wish they could've done another mechanic so you don't have to always point to collect them because I agree in 1 player mode it feels awkward. Maybe when you collect like 1-3 then the rest magnetize to you or something, idk, just something else
One of my first ever actual Mario games, I spent too much time on this game. As much as I loved the atmosphere in the first Mario Galaxy nothing beats the level design in galaxy 2

You should definitely check out the special world and collect the green stars. Most of them are just interestingly placed and you need to do specific jump techniques to get there.
Special world and 100% is a ride, and the final 2 levels are some of the most epic in terms of how they are named and played. Highly recommended to complete 100% and see what the end levels are. Maybe in the future you could try the super mario 602 speedrun, but that is not for the feint of heart...
I'm actually obsessed with how you accidentally discovered the hidden star in Supermassive Galaxy. Younger me got stuck and had to go on TH-cam to figure out where it was, but younger me also wasn't very smart, so do with that as you will! Also, even though the game post-120 stars has quite a bit of tediousness, I would love to see you go up against the true final level 👀
Also, to comment on the “NES era hated gamers” rant, the absurd difficulty of games back then was to artificially increase the play time with the limited storage space back then, games needed to be hard enough for the average child to struggle and take longer to beat it, but easy enough that it didn’t become annoying

@Linkus7 You know the 8-bit Mario Sections in Odyssey? If Nintendo were to release a DLC for Odyseey, it should be a Tower of 1000 8-Bit trials. And it would have randomized 8-Bit sections from a pool of say 5000 mini areas. Now That would be awesome.
You can use the Yoshi flutter glitch to get him to the final boss with Mario but it messes with the animations since he's not supposed to be up there😂 And if positioned correctly,he can be re-mounted after each hit and be taken to the credits as well

I remember way back then they didn't like Windwaker graphics and prefer the "HD" looking Twilight Princess at the time, but nowadays Windwaker looks WAY better than Twilight Princess. Trying to make things realistic, graphics will improve. What was once seen as "realistic" is simply not. It'd ironically look like LESS variety 2: work. Galaxy 1 isn't actually an emulated version. the NVidia Shield in China got HD versions of some wii games, and that's where galaxy 1 came from. they'd have to do it all again for galaxy 2, and this was probably just a cute little anniversary project to them. 3. use of pointer. Yoshi uses the cursor a LOT. this would mean you'd have to simultaneously press buttons and use the touchscreen in handheld mode, making the game basically unplayable on switch lite. maaaybe you could map it to the right stick??? Either way, it'd kinda suck. ultimately, i can kinda see why they didn't do it, especially for the last reason.

The sequel to Super Mario Galaxy is miles better (and fun) in so many ways than ever before! Easy win of a game than any previous entry.
I haven't played this game probably since it came out, and I forgot there were only 5 worlds. It's a lot shorter than I remember.
