This is the only video I could find of a Mazda 5 and removing some of the parts off the steering knuckle. Thanks for going through everything so thoroughly! Now to replace my steering knuckle!
I came back to say you thank you very much for this video, with the help of this video I successfully replaced bearings to my Mazda 5!!! Keep up the great work! Gold video!! ❤
Hi Angelo, thank you so much for the compliment I really do appreciate it. It makes those long long hours of editing worth it. Congratulations on replacing those bearings.
Hello and thank you fir this video! Subscribed. I have a question if is ok to help me with an answer, do you have a list with all the tools what need to change the bearing for this car? I have same car and my left front wheel bearing must change. Your video is very helpful!
I don't usually list the tools required. The reason being is because depending on what joints and stuff we have to touch on a car the size is maybe different and as I'm sure you've probably seen in some comment sections keyboard Warriors can be real nuisance lol. As for the Mazda you will need a bunch of different tools. A good General socket set and a torque wrench is a must. Definitely a sturdy pry bar and if you are in the Rust Belt a lot of patients and luck. If you are questioning specifically what types of tools you might need for a certain part of the job definitely let me know and I will try to guide you the best I can. I know it's not the answer you were probably looking for but I hope it helps you.
Forgot to mention if the axle nut it’s not torque to specification you will have premature failure on the bearing also pinch bolt it’s one time use and axle nut but overall good video 👍🏼
Yes you definitely can however in the past my experience has usually not been very good whenever attempting to remove the ABS sensor because I am in the rust belt. If I was not in the Rust Belt and in California 100% I would remove the ABS sensor before doing the job.
Nice way to damage the bearing by pressing it in with the adapter on the inner bearing instead of doing it correctly by installing the bearing with the special tools you have, and press it into the hub on the outer race by selecting the correct adapter. Replaced many bearings that failed very prematurely because they were installed incorrectly like this.
If you own a OTC Hub Grappler I suggest looking at the manual and try understanding how it works. It is a really good resource for information on how to properly use the tool. Another good indicator that a person has utilized the tool properly is that the bearings done don't fail. I haven't had any bearings prematurely fail on me in the last 15 plus years so I'm pretty sure that I'm doing a good job. But I really do appreciate your know-it-all input.
I do own the tools, and HAVE read the manual, and do understand that putting a new bearing in by the inner race certainly is the wrong way to do it. Have a look at all the adapters that are in the kit to install the bearing by pressing only on the outer race. I also own the hydraulic cylinder installation kit for the hub grappler kit, and works amazing well . I have been a mechanic for 37 years and pride myself in doing a good job, Simply pointing out the correct way to do it, if you care to improve your abilities.
Hey, you would have to take the spindle off of the car and then press the bearing out. It can be a bit of a pain in the ass and you may need an alignment afterwards. Check your local parts store maybe they may have a bearing tool that is similar to the hubgrapher that you can rent which will make your life easier.
That is a nightmare I have lived! 😭 Used every trick in the book. Short of cutting it off, the only thing that worked was using a hub grappler on the rotor.

No problem Amber. I am glad I could help you out in some ways :-) please consider subscribing to the channel to help me out :-)
@@JimmysAutoClinic I ripped the ball joint on the lower control arm trying to remove the steering knuckle. :(
That sucks. If the tear isn't too bad what you can do is use some silicone to try and repair the rubber boot.
Wow, you put a "naked gun" clip lol. Classic 90s!

Jimmy I love how you press the hub bearing on the car and not on a press double thumbs up from me.
Very funny Jimmy and very educative. Thumb up Jimmy-boy.
I know you’re a legit mechanic because you used a cord and didn’t hang the calliper by the brake line 😂
Running like new. Thanks Jimmy!
Would be cool to see some videos with engine work. 👍
Good job, btw.
Definitely coming in the future. 🙂

"Our favorite type of lock tight ....... rust"😀😃😄
All the nightmares that have been created by rust 😄
Could you remove the abs sensor prior to removing and installing the hub and bearing?

Love the extra takes on the end! Hahahaha😂

Awesome I'm glad you found the video entertaining.
How are you supposed to do this without a hub grappler

when the project stops because the rotor is fused to the hub. joys of salt
