  • Professional Restoration /Refinish of a Rolex GMT Master II Reference 116710LN with Rolex Oyster Bracelet.
    Professional Refinish of the hole watch case and bracelet, I tried to do as much as I can with hand in this video and hope you beautiful people can use a few techniques at home. Lapping and polishing is done with watchmakers machines/tools.
    I´m showing how the refinish of the flat mirror finished case sides are done by hand with regular sandpaper.

    I really enjoy that your channel focuses on the restoration of the watch’s external finish instead of servicing the movement. There are plenty of channels that service movements and internal components, but almost none that focus the whole video on the case/bracelet. Your channel is the only one I was able to find that does a professional job, and films it in-depth. It is most satisfying to see close-ups where the steel is brushed perfectly as if it were from the factory. Excellent work again!

    I wouldn’t personally have sent this piece in for polishing. The wear adds character. Great job nonetheless.

    Good job on the GMT Master and great working equipment.
    Could you also provide more information on the type of materials you are using for each step such as grade of sandpaper, grinding and polishing discs and cutting compounds ?

    What product / grit level do you use for the final brushed finish on the bracelet? Thanks!

      I use for the final finish Artifex SC 46 MP, this is the official Rolex Standard for the final grinding pattern.

    Wow What a Resultat. Do you know if there is a difference in the matt finish between a sub and gmt?

      Thank you 🙏 As I know, the grinding pattern is the same!

    Hi! Love your videos. What is that firmer wheel you’re using to polish the edges of the bracelet?

    • @Vintwatches
      @Vintwatches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you 🙏 The wheel is Artifex. The official Rolex specification for the grinding pattern of the oyster bracelet.

      @@Vintwatches sorry to pry, but which grit?

    • @Vintwatches
      @Vintwatches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BradyBegeman I used a few different grids of the Artifex, start with SC400 MP, next step with SC 80 WP and finish with SC 46 MP.

    I view a lot of watch repair/cleaning videos and really enjoy seeing the mechanics of a watch being taken apart, etc. However, I only observed the superficial cleaning/restoration of this watch in your video. I would prefer seeing you actually taking apart the mechanical/working mechanism of the watch, cleaning the individual gears, jewels, etc. to include a before and after once they are cleaned and re-oiled and/or greased. Also showing how the watch was operating before the cleaning and after would be of interest. Your camera angle is too far away during most of the video and your viewer misses the detail. If you can't fit it all in one video then make Part I and II. Just some constructive criticism for future videos regarding what a viewer wants to see and to keep their interest. Cheers
