Thanks for the video sir. The John Inglis Company goes back to 1859 in Ontario where they were a machine shop. In WW1 they made shells, shell forgings and engines for ships. They floundered in the Great Depression, but in 1937 began making Bren Guns. By 1943 they were making 60% of the Bren guns for Commonwealth troops. They also made the High Power pistols as well as a 20mm cannon I believe. It was after the war that they got into making household appliances. We had an Inglis washer and drier pair as well as an Inglis stove last more than 25 years...
I believe since Whirlpool owns them now they don't make much on this side of the medicine line anymore, but that's a hunch not fact.
Talked with Canadian Army vets who saw brand new Inglis High Powers still in wax paper and cardboard boxes into the '80's. As of today it's still the issue arm for regular forces.

I'm in the UK and before we lost our right to own pistols I owned an Inglis Hi Power.
It was an absolute pleasure to shoot.
It just felt like part of your hand and seemed to drop back on target after every shot.
As my Dad would say " Where ,exactly, do you want the little hole? "
When I went to the state's a few years back and had a range day trying Glocks, Sigs, Beretta etc but ended up renting another Browning and spent a lot of money on 9mm nostalgia pills .
    Loved that gun, enjoy mate.
BTW "Church and BBQ gun" .......that's possibly the most American thing I ever heard.😄

My "church/barbeque" gun is a Colt Lightweight Commander I bought for myself as a 29th birthday present, so I've had it 37 years. I'm the one & original owner. It was smithed up by a guy in Bakersfield CA named Michael Horn, who was a gunsmith & instructor at Jeff Cooper's Gunsite Ranch in Arizona. Had all the standard modifications for a street-carry combat 1911 for it's day. Still have the original box & paperwork.

I'd like to see one of the Berettas with the tip up barrels, like the 21A, make it into the vault. From what I understand they were popular back in the days before the 380 pocket pistols stormed the market. It's just a unique little gun, and Beretta's still making new ones, but they've been out for a while now.

  • @killerpeaches7
    @killerpeaches7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Nice. Love seeing people who carry full size, metal guns.
yeah, portable polymer is a lot easier to pack 16 hrs in, I guess, but it's funny how people act like larger/heavier guns are somehow impossible, ignoring the fact folk carried 30-40 oz metal guns for decades, because we had no lightweight wonder guns (heck aluminum WAS the lightweight option), and somehow managed.
My own carry gun for years was a Beretta 92 Centurion (sometimes my full size 92). 28oz it was too bad though that fat butt was the biggest issue. But I'm also 6'3" so YYMV. A 5'2" victorias secret type might find that problematic. Just find it nice to see someone who understands that one CAN carry something besides the latest greatest featherweight tactical tupperware, and not die because of it.
Admittedly were I to buy a new CCW specific gun, the Glock 43x or Sig365xl would probably be on my list to look at, but so too the Rex Zero and Delta. a Taurus G3C might round out the 5 I'm most likely to consider. the Hellcat/p365/g43 IMO are all too tiny to really shoot as well as I'm comfortable with, at my size. But that's me. Might be totally wrong for you.

I do have a unique carry gun, more on that latter, but I typically carry a CZ P01 in the winter and now a P365xl with a Holosun 407k the rest of the year.
For anyone wondering I don't carry the p365 in the winter because I'm concerned about the optic fogging up. At least when it's super cold.
However my unique carry gun is something I haven't even been able to find online. An it's also my church and BBQ gun so to speak. It's a Para Ordnance Light Double Action High-Cap Stainless Elite. Yeah good luck finding that anywhere else. It's one of the Canadian made Para Ordnance guns. Not that post Remington BS. An unlike the other LDA guns the trigger has a distinct wall that breaks like glass. An with a 14rd magazine it's a chunker. So I carry it in a shoulder rig that I made myself with a two mag carrier, flashlight, and knife on the opposite side for balance. Benifits of being a holster maker. You can set your personal rig up your way.
I got it used for a steal at $500 an it had some serious wear. So I had the lower and slide refinished. Also added some new big dot tritium sights. An to top it of I had a friend make me a set of custom micarta grips with my family crest on a inset coin. Now it's a gorgeous beast of a gun.

Use a product called Cat Crap Antifog/Cleaner on your holosun. I use it on my pistol red dots, my carbine optics, and my prescription glasses. Getting in and out of a patrol car causes fogging issues if you don’t. My pistol mounted optics do not have nearly as many fogging problems in a IWB rig as they do stuck out and exposed in the duty rig.

No mag safety in my gun, never bites me. After all the work I did restoring it, it knows not to bite the hand that feeds it.

Cool gun, terrible video. Next time put a little more effort into the presentation and facts about the said gun, maybe even disassemble it for our viewing pleasure.
