the 129,000 Question perfectly epitomizes Moe Green's Character of offering a big prize and does everything possible for the contestants to lose, and here he does it by trying to use the contestants wife as a distraction to catch him off guard.

My brother and I had this episode recorded on a VHS tape and watched it so much in the 80's its burned into our souls with side jokes such as "I'm still Alive..." and "What, no JAM?!!!" and "You can't fire anyone...you're low man on the Totem pole..." and "Your Wife..."

Moe is such a hilarious schmuck! I really loved his character. Was sad when Harold Ramis left. However, it was brilliant how they wrote him off the show!

Flaherty begins to laugh when he says to his lover... "Where's the shjam?" Fortunately he caught himself and continued with the skit. These guys were so funny they cracked themselves up 😂

For those not growing up in Southern Ontario, Channel 7 EyeWitness News Irv Weinstein in Buffalo NY, would report daily on the Cheektawaga and North Tonawanda fires and arsons “started by some punk”. This is Southern Ontario pure! See 12:46

    HAhaha funny fact:
That coloured toilet paper fad died out after the dyed TP was eventually linked to rectal cancer!

Hard to say, and I'm sure to cover their A$$e$$ the toilet paper companies don't want the numbers of how many cases were CAUSED by this coloured toilet paper.
But I do know all the families we knew that used it ended up with rectal problems and cancer!
      So who knows?
The multi-billion dollar cigarette companies have been proven to CAUSE lung cancer, yet we still have companies selling cigarettes, and our Government has COLLECTED Taxes, Decades now, so wTF Message is that sending?
Is it okay if you get cancer ,we taxed you, but you wouldn't stop?
Plus, if you live in the United States, you will pay for CANCER treatments, yet the government taxes you so they aren't responsible for letting you have something that is known to cause cancer?!
      Crazy world, eh?

Have to wonder if this was Floyd's version of a "Milano," which definition was where a news executive's editorial judgment on what is newsworthy is clouded and distorted by personal experiences. Did Floyd report there as a foreign correspondent early in his career (pre-SCTV), and become a de facto expert on that country? Was he buddies with either the head of the Melonville office of the Togo tourist board or the Togo ambassador to Melonville? Did he vacation there once (either alone or with wife Edie) before it became the earthquake center of the world? Was there a considerable Togo immigrant community living in Melonville and its environs? Floyd certainly seems to have had positions of authority at SCTV, as a news director and managing/executive editor, besides being lead anchor (and Count Floyd), for there to be so many Togo stories.

In the 1970s, Togo had designs on total domination of the USSR, using its three biplanes to put the superpower and its satellite nations into utter submission.

Can we agree,,, ? That classic SCTV is better than modern SNL ? Back when the GOAL was to be FUNNY and entertain . I’m a Liberal, but SNL has gone waaaaaaay Liberal. I just want to laugh. But feels like I’m being lectured to. Where are the laughs?

It's the lazy way they implement the politics that sucks. Like an easy win button. SCTV had some brilliant political commentary(The Bob Hope desert classic comes to mind) but they never preached or got lazy about it.
Modern day politics is so absurd these days that it outshines everything and is everywhere. Politics is getting louder and more aggressive in and of itself. News is demanding to be heard more and more from all angles and agendas.
      It's all a mess
