SCTV season 1, episode 24. Bribery is the theme, sketches include Dan Money, Officer Friendly, The Undersea World Of Marcel Cousteau and Masterpiece Theater presents All The Long Leggedy Besties.
It wasn't until decades later that I heard some of the radio series "Dan Money" was making fun of: "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar". Johnny Dollar was an insurance investigator whose stories were recapped as entries in his expense reports. It in turn aired decades before "Second City Television", but clearly they knew about it, possibly being familiar with it from the childhood of some of the writers.
Interesting that in the early days they kind of took a page out of Monty Python's Flying Circus, in that themes could continue between otherwise unrelated sketches. (Dan Money and Earl Camembert having to bribe people for information in separate sketches.)
Taken from then-ABC affiliate WPEC CBS 12 in West Palm 👋🏻 Beach 🏖️, Florida, in the wee hours of July 2, 1986, and originally broadcast 🔉 at 3:30 🕞 am Eastern.
I'm so glad that Harold Ramis realized on his own or was told that he just wasn't up to the standards of the rest of the cast, and bowed out. The man just was not funny.
Opposite of what happened. Ramis quit to write movies, so the entire cast had to follow him to LA in order to write season 2. They all looked up to him, their head writer and leader. You are making this up.
Me: *watching this episode* 😂 Also me: *sees the comments people write about them wanting Officer Friendly to do... stuff to them for being bad* WTF??? 🫤 (PS: This is more a joke, not a callout LOL)
i would love to be on officer friendly's most wanted list
"Are you bad, boys and girls?"
......ohhhhhh yes sir
Yesssss I’m really bad !!!!!!!
Officer friendly could get a confession out of me very easily.
I would let Officer Friendly do unspeakably homoerotic things to me. I'm very normal and mentally stable
I can very much relate...
Me too
me 2
Arrest me officer friendly, I’ve been bad 😘😘😘
The "wanted" poster next to the jail cell (12:52) shows a picture of a baby. LOL
Catch me, officer friendly.
