Loved growing up in Newtown & Stanmore. The best day's of my youth, teens & early adulthood. Miss it terribly.. Was definitely a place to call home and was always a safe place growing up!💯🤙🇭🇲

Lived in Newtown for 8 years when I first came to Australia, didn't know anything about the history of the place as a newcomer, but I felt that vibe on day one. I still go there often, reminds me of my younger days.

I was born in Camperdown 1976, lived in Australia st Newtown all my childhood 😊 spent many yrs roller skating up king st to church club or down past the uni to Victoria park swimming pool. After school we’d go to Camperdown memorial park to play on the magic yellow bus ( games, painting, stories etc) always lots of fetes and community gatherings.I remember many many times climbing the trees near the big sandstone wall, ( it fenced off camperdown cemetery in the centre of the park) we’d climb down the other side using headstones and we’d play in that, big, beautiful, old, creepy, dark, cold cemetery😬if I couldn’t find a friend to play with, I’d go all by myself, I would of been just 7/8&9yrs old, (CRAZY) my brothers would always come find me and take me back home to mum & dad,who were flat out trying to run a business and raise us mischievous kids ( well me🫣). They eventually sold up and we settled in a cosy little place up the coast to get our high school education.( it would of been amazing to attend Newtown high of performing arts wow)but god had other plans🤣 I would love to go back and reminisce along the streets of Newtown, I have nothing but great memories and as for king st what a pleasure it would be to explore it as an adult🤩thank you for making this video and taking me on this little journey today,it warmed my 💜🩵🩷

Lots more people and built up Sydney is. But yeh Newtown’s historical value protects it. Great place Newtown. Thanks for watching. 🙏

Had to revisit and stroll around Newtown from your 2022 vid (about 17 months ago) was great to see again. Other than Paddo, Newtown has always been a fav. Been there lately? Would be interesting to see what has changed in that time. P 😊

Another great walking tour added to my go to list. A bit of a bohemian, musician and foodie I am. Of course Paddingtons 5 ways junction and the terraces also on my list. However your acknowledgement of the First Nations people and there connection to the area in particular King St, that was special. P

Cool. No the RSL is now a hotel called The Urban. You will see it in my other video Sydney Inner West. I say King Street in the video. But I should have said Enmore Road. Thanks for watching. 🙏

Newtown was great in the 90s when I used to live there, then it became gentrified and lost its charm from 2000 onwards.

    • @hwtours

Yep Sydney changed a lot after the Olympics. Some good things, but equally not so good. Such as the overall cost of living. Thanks for watching.

Omg i just watched your vid which brought back lot of memories. Then i turned on the 4pm news and saw that in Newtown a fire in a boarding house, 3 residents dead and an 80yr old man in critical condition caue he jump off the 1st floor to escape fire. The police think it was deliberately lit cause they found an accelerant. What's this world coming too...

I wouldn't call Newtown "diverse" but it's full of gay people. Houses cost millions of dollars. There's still a good number of pubs.
