Just took my son to his first proper gig, so glad it was The Real People in Liverpool. This was his favourite song of the night, one of my favourites too. Class! 😎
Good to hear my friend. Its a journey you will enjoy as Chris and Tony are as good as they come. I've been singing these boys' praises for years, so it's good to see new people getting into them.
Saw these guys in Amarillo, Texas, at a club called Sneakers in the early '90s. Heard them on college radio and had to go. We ended up going to their bus and drinking a beer or two. Great guys! A friend of mine has a necklace they gave her. Loved their music and it was great to hang out with them.. Definitely an underrated band.
One Love, One Heart. One road to find the way that I could be You understand me, or so you say But then again, you don't know, why you feel the way you feel. You understand the way I'm feeling, you are not blind Dream on, dream your days away, chase it all away One chance is all we've got One chance of finding out What it is all about What it is all about Hopes, and dreams and lies They said you shined Dream on, dream your days away, chase it all away It's so sad to see you go It's so sad to see you go It's so sad, it's so sad, it's so sad to see you go You understand the way I'm feeling, you are not blind Dream on, dream your days away, chase it all away away, away, away One Love, One Heart. Dream on, chase it all away (repeated three times)
How this band were not the leading guitar band of the 90s is unbelievable, they basically gave Oasis the tools to become who they became , they are easily as talented as the La’s , the Coral but still spent there career as a cult underground indie band , it’s madness , supporting less talented bands, but anyway those who know , know , and the Realies are always held in high regard, class band …Mavers, Ryder-Jones, Power, get most of the attention but the Griffiths brothers are there in the same league aswell as McCulloch & Edgar Summertyme as the Genius songwriters & musicians of the pool …..
I saw The Real People support Ocean Colour Scene at the Hammersmith Apollo in 1996 and they blew my fucking mind!...I'll be seeing them in Islington next month with 2 old work colleagues who I introduced to the bands album What's on the Outside and can't wait!
Quite possibly the most underrated band of all time. Cursed with bad luck and badly managed. Most people would know how they influenced Oasis and helped them to develop their sound. Liam based his singing style on the lead singer of this band they basically did the music for Definitely Maybe and a bit of Morning Glory. They were given a big pay cheque for their input on the Oasis albums and Oasis themselves have stated on occasions that The Real People were a huge influence on them. A real shame they never had the success they truly deserved. Marshmellow Lane is one of the best albums I have ever listened to. Shame it was never released at the time. It's up there with any of the great albums of the Brit pop era.
Zachary Anthony libel? That's a bit OTT. I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said before. It's well documented how The Real People helped Oasis and even ex members of Oasis have even said the huge input they had. I've watched documentaries and read several articles on The Real People's influence on Oasis and everything I stated has already been said by different people.
Oasis never gave credit to the real people and they had nothing to do with What's the story? But they do have a big influence over Oasis songs such as Columbia, Don't go Away and Whatever
Drew Wall Oasis sounded like a very bad Stone Roses cover band before they were sent to work with The Real People. Anyone who ever worked with Oasis in the early days would even admit this. Their music was said to be dreadful but they had a certain look about them. I honestly don't believe Oasis would ever have been as big as they were if they weren't sent to meet The Real People. Noel was a very good song writer but it was TRP who shaped Oasis music style. Liam's whole singing style was based on the Griffiths brothers style. I'm not say TRP wrote all the songs(lyrics) but the music /sound is so apparent in Oasis albums. From what I've read /understand is that The Real People were heavily involved in the music (not lyrics) for the first two Oasis albums. Not that they were working with Oasis during What's The Story but many of the songs were worked on before hand. Even some of the stuff Noel and Liam would say was influenced by the the Griffiths brothers. Remember 'our kid'? That's a Scouse thing. I'm not knocking Oasis but always found it a great shame that The Real People never had the true success they truly deserved.
THE REALIES WERE THE DOGS AND ARE STILL GOING STRONG NEW ALBUM OUT RECENTLY THE GALLAGHERS OWE THEM A LOT,GAVE THEM THERE FIRST SHOT AT A DEMO FOR FREE,MORE POWER TO THE BROTHERS GRIFFITHS,
The fact that this song was never number one can only mean one of two things: 1: Not enough people knew about it. 2: Loads of people heard it, but didn’t buy it. If it’s not the first reason, then the world can get to fuck!!
@duncanpriestley964 the album its off Marshmellow Lane was scheduled for release in 1993 but as you correctly stated they were dropped by their label. I had a bootleg cassette of this in the mid 90s so it must have leaked out. The rights reverted back to the Realies in 2013 and they subsequently released the album and also a bootleg version of the album Massively underrated band
he actually did slightly rip it off lol. He definitely took inspiration of the "One Love, One Heart" melody for his verse in Stop Crying Your Heart Out. One Love, One Heart = Hold Up, Hold On. He also used the phrase "Dream On" In the chorus of one of his solo tunes literally called "Dream On".
noel goes on about the la's but hardly mentions the real people, noel ripped the song style and liam ripped the vocals, if you know ya know about the australian real people
@@okestone7349 in liverpool oasis where known as the australian real people, this was when they where gigging at the lomax etc before their debut came out because they sounded just like them, it's basically a joke about the australian pink floyd tribute band

True an album that had rock n roll, psychedelic and early brit pop. Just makes you think how different it could have been had the record company not had folded just before this was scheduled to be released.

Can’t believe I’m only just hearing this. The James Hargreaves’ interview brought me here. Need to do some further listening:-)

Everything you say is spot on. However they were well compensated for their input
They had to fight for it though mate.

Simon Green so fkin what
Oh damn, this is great. I heard this now in first time, i like The Real People in 90's and really i like. Very much better than Oasis...=)
I can see where Noel gallagher got the influence for stop crying your heart out now, they are very similar, well underated band
Solo is pure achting baby
Top band! Oasis should offer them a support slot at least!!

I think they had a lot of very bad luck. They lost the right to put this out when they were dropped by Sony. I think. Someone correct me?

New Real People CD out on December 7!
Noel Gallagher wakes up in cold sweats coz he couldn’t write or rip off this masterpiece of a song
Cringe
I don't think noel has to worry about little thing's like that come on let's be real people. Lol 😂

I'm struck by how many of their lyrics reappear in Oasis songs! This is a really great track!

What Liverpool does today; Manchester does tomorrow.
Imagine if this was an Oasis song. It would be on the top right along Wonderwall
Sounds more U2 than Oasis.
Does anyone have the lyrics of this song?
you kinda feel that marshmallow lane would of been the album that made them.... so many great tunes.

tony griff looks like samo out of grangehill at the beginning of the track hahaha
Does this sound much better than the version on Spotify to anyone else? The spotify version is a bit… off?
The guitar intro sounds like Side from Travis
Why weren't these guys massive??
riddled with baxk luck mate badly managed and their record company collapsed
