Thanks for the quick review. I look forward to the variable wrist tests. If it looks good, I'll pick it up. Please include an affiliate link on that video so I can help support the channel.
I can see this being a popular pick for ultralight hikers, but true "gram weenies" are gonna scoff at the idea of wearing an "unnecessary" watch at all! I like the idea of ProTrek carving out its own niche instead of just being a slightly different packaging for G-Shock modules.
Nice watch, I like this bungee strap on it. But this is not a pro trek watch. I have the prw-6900y, similar design, metal bezel, triple sensors, solar multiband 6, tough movement, but I would replace the resin band with this bungee one. I think it is possible, the lugs are similar, with quick release springbars. This watch is another packaging for the GA-2100 casioak, not a pro trek. That bezel it's an absolute gimmick in this case. Just my personal opinion.
@@JimKinkade Absolutely, I have a lot of casio watches and I don't remember if I ever pushed the buttons accidentally. It's just a marketing mumbo jumbo.
Very fancy.....I don't understand why a watch band (a cord) should be something versatile, that should be basically a connection between a wrist and a watch, and a watch should be a time measuring tool. I don't know, compared to my ProTrek that thing looks like a toy (okay, a price difference is huge I must say). But okay, for 150 USD that thing is bluetooth solar powered at least. It's not so expensive for what it is, but it's a nice funky modern Casio. It's impossible to put that King in the same video in my opinion, a King comes from a completely different time, a purpose s different, that's not the same category, a King is heavyweight, that ProTrek is a featherweight. (oh yeah, just one little question....where's the light button, where's the light, where's that versatility in the dark?)
The dial is probably fully lumed, right? Like I said, take a rubber band from eBay with quick release bars and you are done . This one takes 22mm band. The way I see it....
I think this watch has the chance to be iconic, waiting for the 20 yrs update.
Ill let you know how good it is in 20 years
@MentoMentorium hope you don't die, also play gta 6 and tell me your opinion.
@@aki_Olive Thank you! You aswell! And definitely man, I can't wait for GTA 6 :P
That thing is rad
@@skatepuunksurvivalist8536 RAD! That’s the perfect word for this one!
Nice! You got one! Looking forward to the long term review.
Nice to see you with the protrek Jim. Your videos are easy to watch and I enjoy them. Looking forward to see how the protrek fares.
R.I.P Protrek
Bad call for them to remove the sensors entirely. But they did that in the past as well. Atleast those models had tide graph and moonphase.
They must have decided that people just hike with their phones nowadays.
@@JimKinkade or probably had some GA-B2100 modules laying around.

The variable wrist test is scheduled for September 6. There’s a lot of schedules we need to coordinate.
i want to like protreks but still need some convincing so looking forward to that 20 year review LOL
It’s a tough sell because it’s all plastic.

It’s a hiking watch that goes off the beaten path.
Well this one is a G-Shock module in a ProTrek casing. Before, it was the other way around.
You have one 😂 great video 👍
cool
How’s the lume?
@@ParametricAlex I noticed that the hands *and* the indices are lumed. How long does it last? I’ll test that out tonight.
but what color is it?
Technical question - what is the lug width for this model? I could see that strap being put on bigger ABC sensor ProTrek models if it would fit.
@@SilencedMi5 I measured 7/8” so I think it’s 22mm.
@@JimKinkade Thanks!

I actually wish they didn't have this bezel because it seems like a weak point to the watch.

I think the premise of the band is that you can wear it over a rain coat or winter jacket easily.

I'll never buy again a casio watch with a negative display - even that small... it's useless. - f.ex. 2:38
Nice watch. Very legible. Just change the strap and it will be great 👍🏻

😂 but I don't. Was just a purpose@@JimKinkade
It looks to tight for your wrist
It looks tight but it doesn't feel tight at all. You can adjust it out really far.
