Tried this tonight and really loved it. I made the slits a little larger and worked perfectly. Really enjoy watching your Ninja Foodi videos. Please keep them coming.
Very glad to hear that and thank you for sharing your results!!!
Looks amazing
Thanks John. We (me & you) knocked it out of the park. Delicious!👍
I feel like I'm in my neighbor's home when I watch your videos. The way you point out tips you've experienced while giving very clear directions is great. I enjoy your sense of humor and your mannerisms.
Love your dinning room table set up!
It was nice...lol...thanks for watching!!!
You remind me so much of my stepfather. Brought a smile to my face! Thanks for the video!
Very good to hear... Thanks for watching!!!
I love your channel! Keep using the foodi, you inspire me
That's good to hear, thank you for watching!
You are being very helpful. Getting to be my go to cook for the Ninja
Thank you Lesley... that is very good to hear...thanks for watching!!!
Thanks for the video. This is the first recipe I tried with my new Foodi. It turned out great, and exactly like yours...with a dark brown hole and spot in the middle. They only said to do the middle vent in the directions. I made it again and made the center slits a little larger and did as you did, adding several single slits in a circle. I also cut the time short by 1 minute and there was no ugly brown spot in the middle...Thanks for your video, and you are right, the dark brown spot doesn't do anything negative to the taste...
That is good information, thanks for posting it and thanks for trying and watching!!
Warren Beers.. Thanks for giving us the heads up on that...it's going to be a delightful presentation using
your slits in a circle. Best subscribers/commenters on " Double O's" channel....ever. I learn SOoo much from
you all. Thanks!

I really recommend it, the recipes are very impressive, thanks for watching
Hi John, Great video. I made this chicken pot pie for dinner tonight with a couple changes to use what I had on hand.
I added some diced potatoes, and swapped out the pie crust for a crescent dough topping. It came out wonderfully. I just got my Foodie 2 days ago, and have already made 5 dishes. Glad I lost the cord to my electric pressure cooker. The Ninja Foodi is WAY better! Keep those videos coming, brother.
Very glad to hear that!! I think you'll find that foodi does most of everything you'll need and chicken pot pie is one of them...thank you for watching and posting your methods!!!
I was looking for some reviews of this recipe in my Foodi book before trying it and found your video. I'm sold! Thank you. I will check out more of you videos. Yum😋

Another success John. I’m going to try the recipe this upcoming week.
It's a good one!! Thanks for watching!
Ninja should pay you... you sold me on my foodi!
Thanks and i really need to talk to them about that LOL, thanks for watching!
Looks good...I'm gon go head and make this tonight. But I sure do wish we could put some pie crust at the bottom, too. Maybe I'll bake off another one separately, and then when it's time to pick up the food I cooked in the ninja, I'll just dip in there and drop it right it right on topof the separated crust I baked off.
Thank you for making this video. I came here to see how to lay that pie crust. As I read the recipe, I couldn't visualize it, and I wanted to be sure I'm doing it right.
That sounds like an excellent idea... let me know how that turns out... thank you for watching!!!
Looks great...mmmm
It was, I'll definitely be doing that one again! Thanks for watching!
Dope Video! Sending blessing your way, Keep inspiring!🎒🙌🏻
that looks good
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Getting one tomorrow gonna try it
Your gonna like it!!! Thanks for watching!
@@JohnSanders definitely do a about to make that pot pie watching the video
your vids are great and entertaining...keep it up. i JUST bought one of these and have been slowly starting to use it more and more. :)
Thank you very much and thank you for watching them!!! It's truly a great device that's easy to get used to using it for many things!!!
Okay, making this tonight. You give me hope it will turn out lol!
It will..don't worry and thank you for watching!!!
I love that cutting board that you folded one handed and had your chicken on--very convenient. Do you have an Amazon affiliate link for us to purchase through?
I do not currently have any links, I need to get that set up...but i bought that board a few years back at a discount store, it is made by "joseph Joseph" thanks for watching!
ever try it with frozen biscuits? (maybe slicked in half) , instead of the pie crust? what do you think? worked in a Dutch oven back in the scouting days
Great channel, great Southern man cooking. Was the doggie waiting for some food?
Thanks for the kind comment...that dog is my buddy, he's always at my side and looking for a crumb or 2...LOL I usually try to have something extra for him and the other one, that probably doesn't help the fact that he is always under my feet, but I wouldn't have it any other way... Thanks for watching my video!!
I like my pot pie a little thicker than theirs, so I added a cornstarch slurry when I realized it wasn't going to thicken any further. I also didn't grab a pie crust because it wasn't on the ingredient list, but luckily I had flour and butter, so I just whipped one up real quick. I was able to roll it out to just the right size and it was a bit thicker than store bought crust. It still cooked right, so I can't complain about that. The only thing I would change next time is the veggies. I feel like it needed corn.
Yeah, that pie crust omission in the ingredient list almost got me too and I can see where corn starch and corn could be a good addition to this excellent recipe...thanks for watching!
Tried it with crescent dough from pillsbury! Thanks John
Glad you enjoyed it... and thanks for watching!!!
I love your video it was lots of help. The recipe needed something. it was a little bland.
Thanks and glad I helped...I'm sure some fresh herbs wouldn't hurt either...thanks for your suggestion and thank you for watching!!
I thought I lost my mind when I didn't see the pastry listed in the ingredients! Thanks for this video confirming that I'm not...well, not with that anyway! LOL
I know how you feel..I need reassuring sometimes too LOL...thanks for watching
@@JohnSanders Sure...loving your videos btw....I'm in Georgia too (north side)....go Dogs! :)
@@winpins9539 well hey neighbor!! I'm a little north west...I guess...temple ga
@@JohnSanders Hey! I'm up in Canton. I did your recipe for mac and cheese yesterday and it was fantastic! I did a ground beef "over the top" mac & cheese though...but the base was your recipe...in the Foodi. You can see the pics (and video) on Insta at photos_by_lynnbryant. Keep 'em coming! I'm going to do the short ribs too, very soon. :)
Making this right now. Using red potatoes and a cornstarch slurry. Had no flour
That might turn out to be a good idea...thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders it was awesome and a nice thickness not soupy
@@walkerdrae thanks for sharing your method and results!!
Instead of a pie crust, have you tried using biscuits?
I have not but that's a good idea and i would think it would work, maybe some halved pillsbury canned layered biscuits would work well!
That's what I was thinking. Like using the Pillsbury grand biscuits
John, I started watching you about 3 weeks ago. I must admit I'm having a blast making some of your recipes. Some food for thought and a special request. Is it possible to make chicken/spaghetti parm all in one pot? sounds interesting, what say you. Thanks for all you do, take care and be well. Dick
Thanks and that sounds doable... I'll look into that... thanks for watching!°
Wouldn’t you want the lid closed to preheat?
I'm not sure it helps a lot but it certainly wouldn't hurt...thanks for watching!
Well hello ! I don't want to burst a bubble....but...since I am a consummate beginner...this IS an intermediate..
the amount of ingredients alone...the diff't stages...a number of things...but it doesn't in any way mean a
beginner can't do it...but there are lots of reasons I'd put it in intermediate category...:) Still smiling, right?
Good... me too... It's just seeing it through another's eyes... all for good :)
Substitute the pie crust with busicuts. Place a high rack over the chicken pie filling. Place a solid layer of Pillsberry busicuts on the rack. Air crisp till biscuits are done. In a second Foodi pot place a layer of busicut halves on the bottom of new pot. Pour over biscuits the pot pie filling. Place upper half of biscuits on top of the filling. Brush on a generous amount of melted butter. Sprinkle broken walnut pieces over the top. Air bake five minutes at 325 degrees. You will open the lid to heaven.
That sounds like a good idea...thanks and thanks for watching!
Thank you for this. I am making this for dinner tonight and my first thought was,"I wonder if John has a video on making this?" And you did. So, thanks.
Glad you found it and please let us know how it turns out...and thank you for watching and trying my recipes!!!
Will do. So far, so good. The filling is DA BOMB! Putting on the crust in a bit, right before we sit down to supper.
@@kimberlytaft276 thumbs up!!! let us know!!
I think it may be the best pot pie I have ever made and I have made some really good ones! I added some rosemary and sage, 1 more can of broth, and thickened with corn starch instead of flour. It was AWESOME and the crust was perfect. I prettied it up by using a tiny cookie cutter to cut out the very middle so that the crust would stay down and then made my slits. ❤
@@kimberlytaft276all of that sounds really good!!! And I really need to get one of those cookie cutters...I bet it was excellent and pretty...thanks for trying the recipe and sharing your techniques and results!!!
GO DAWGS
WOOF WOOF WOOF
Where did you get the ninja foodie ?
I got it at Sam's club
