    0:40 I’ve always wished they had this specific rhythm available I didn’t know you could do this on certain ones that’s really cool

    I had this keyboard years ago as a kid and you have just unlocked one of the biggest mysteries for me. I knew that many of the rhythms used in songs were available in the standard rhythm list on other pianos, and some others weren't available at all. I had a feeling that they must have been stored somewhere on the keyboard. I also had a feeling that some of the rhythms were customized for specific songs. Thanks for sharing! I wonder if you can also hack it to play slash chords.

    Still possible also on CTK-451, CTK-471, CTK-481 (MIC variant=491), CTK-496 (Black variant=700), and CTK-501
    The rest which are ~110-255 are blank data, and you can just see the rest of the keyboard's strings (text data including its song and setting names) and even garbage text!

      Do you actually have (access to) all of those keyboards you listed to try it on? If so, I'd like to see a video of that along with how the rhythms alone sound! Plus, that would add to the compatibility list that I have in the description. I did expect this exploit to work on those keyboards seeing as how the firmware on the CTK-558 is so similar to the firmware on those.

    I tried it without the MIDI cable, but it didn’t work.

    • @GabrielMiceli
      @GabrielMiceli  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, there's a reason I said to connect one: it won't work without it. This exploit only works because of a combination of things:
      ▰ The keyboard always sends MIDI data no matter what mode it's in.
      ▰ When the Tone screen is visible, the song stops the rhythm, and then the keyboard receives MIDI information, some buffer is overflown which causes various accompaniment variables to be overwritten sequentially with those received bytes.
      By not connecting a MIDI cable, you're missing one of the most important steps.

      @@GabrielMiceli What's the MIDI cable in and out connect to?

    • @GabrielMiceli
      @GabrielMiceli  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@okenzeaguwa794- Just as long as you connect both of the connectors on the one cable to the In and Out ports on the keyboard, the orientation does not matter. It only matters when linking two devices together with two MIDI cables, which we're not doing here.

      Please stop crying to me about it. Did you even read my last reply to you? And what have I told you about being patient? You can't always get the things you want when you want it (trust me, I know this from experience), and trying to force something out of somebody is only going to make things worse. And no, he did not sell his keyboard. He clearly stated, "I did not sell my piano and have no intention of selling it." So there, what you're saying is untrue. Also, not everybody has the time or know-how to do what you're asking, and you're just going to have to accept it. Sorry, but it's just the case.

    Does anyone by chance know if this may be possible on the CTS 300? It only has 77 rhythms by default but I’m curious if they’re maybe be a way to obtain additional ones via midi somehow

    • @GabrielMiceli
      @GabrielMiceli  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Certainly not, and that's because keyboards with the A² Basic sound source (CTK-558) and keyboards with the AHL Basic sound source (CT-S300) are coded very differently and are not really alike at all.

    I had a WK110 years ago that I "traded" for a Yamaha (it is probably still at my old house), and that had a LOT of reserved rhythms. I think more built in songs played with reserved rhythms than ones you could use. That keyboard has a USB connection for MIDI- could there be an equivalent trick to play the hidden rhythms?

    How do I make rhythm numbers stay above 99?

    • @GabrielMiceli
      @GabrielMiceli  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As long as you don't go below 100, you'll have access to all of the reserved rhythms. You should get used to how the numbers and titles appear as you get closer to 100 so that it's easier to avoid. However, the process of going above 99 is relatively easy, though, so it's not really that much of an inconvenience if you end up going below 100.

    Casio ctk 541 reserved rhythms, are they different than 551?

    • @GabrielMiceli
      @GabrielMiceli  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely. The CTK-541 has _When I Fall In Love,_ which uses its own set of rhythms that can not be found on the CTK-551 or CTK-558.

    • @GabrielMiceli
      @GabrielMiceli  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@okenzeaguwa794- Unless I get unusually lucky and find one in a market for no more than $20, I will not be getting another A² Basic+ keyboard since I think a keyboard's value is in how much additional functionality it gives me, and those keyboards wouldn't really give me much more than what I have already. Also, as a general rule, if I have a keyboard that I care about, I'll always upload a Demonstrations video with it.

      He's reuploading other people's videos, which is generally unethical if the source video(s) still already exist on TH-cam, which they do. He's been driving the keyboard community mad lately because of it.

      @@pianobeat8943- Okay, then here's what you need to do (read this carefully before you begin):
      1. Set your computer up as a MIDI Thru device. If you don't have the software or don't know how to do that, here's the method that I use:
       A. Download MIDITrail. It's available for Windows and Mac OS here: osdn.net/projects/miditrail/releases/
       B. Extract and run the program.
       C. Go to Option > MIDI OUT... and select your MIDI cable.
       D. Do the same with the MIDI IN... menu, and be sure to enable the MIDITHRU option there.
       E. Press Shift+Space to start MIDI monitoring.
      2. Continue to follow the video tutorial from 0:03 onwards.
