Hi William, do you mean the latch is shorter? And not aligning in the center of the door knob hole? That is called the backset. The new latch should have two settings, so that it can work with both of the common door hole placements (backset lengths). you can lengthen or shorten it from 2-3/8 to 2-3/4 I’ve attached a video to demonstrate. Let me know if this helps th-cam.com/video/qQws-D1es4o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Djx2gs4s0cAhcWJE
@@mikebikercanada Nope, the door handle is simply longer than the one that's on there now. I don't feel comfortable drilling anything into my door so im going to have to returned the weiser kit, sucks, I got a great deal on it.
Oh I think I know what you mean now. The long handle on the exterior portion of the door. Sorry I got confused. That’s really too bad :( If you got a good deal, maybe it’s worth looking for something to patch or plug the hole like a bolt with a decorative nut?
@@mikebikercanada YEs that's what I meant mike! unfortunately, I'm not handy enough to start drilling holes and ive had enough issues with this god damn house already I'm just going to return it and live with the shitty handles that are already there.
Thanks for this very clear and concise tutorial!
You're very welcome! 👍 Thanks for the nice comment :)
