Every object in this world is bound by dharma and karma.
As per the dharma of food, any food taken should generate energy in the eater. Will anyone drop mud into fire to cook food? Certainly not. Because to cook food, we have to provide wood / fuel.
Thus, if we understand the principles of food as mentioned in the Bhagawad Gita, it would mean that there is no concept of which is good - vegetation or non-vegetarian. It is about how much energy the food can provide to the body to keep up the spirits.
Thus the types of food are satwic, raajasic and taamasic. While satwic & raajasic foods promote energy, taamasic foods create more waste our could degrade energy levels. Any food that has lost its life beats [spandan] becomes taamasic. Usually after 3 hrs, food turns taamasic. One can observe that even graceful animals don't eat the dead, but only eat the kill, executed within the 3hr period. Vegetables stay longer ever after they are cut from their roots because most of the parts of their body has the capability to maintain life - so much so that even a plant can be evolved from its own leaf or stem or root or bud or seed. However, plants that are cooked lose that ability and therefore become taamasic after 3hrs of cooking.
Thus, meat that is eaten within 3hrs is also productive just as cooked vegetables eaten within that time. That which is non productive, why would any one have at all?
Amongst the non vegetarian food, milk is probably the only food that attains different states thru time, and yet remains a satwic food. In 3hrs, milk becomes curd. After 3hrs, we can extract butter from curd. After another 3hrs we can melt butter to ghee and use it for long. This is unique to milk and that is why the cow is regarded as the progressive animal and hence called as 'go' meaning to progress.
The concept of vegetarian and non vegetarian is a Semitic concept. Because they assume that pain is the deciding factor. This probably is due to a perverted understanding of ahimsa.
In olden days before a killing is made, the animal or bird is allowed to flee until it is hunted down. This is so that after some time, the toxic chemicals generated out of fear in the prey, gets consumed as it runs for long time. Thereafter when it is killed the food becomes more palatable. However today, either it is killed by draining the blood away as halal or thru hosheir or thru stunning which does not rise the temperature or the state of the meat leading to many diseases later on.

In the Indian perspective, unlike what we usually hear - vegetarian & non-vegetarian food (which are imported western religious concepts),
It is classified as 3 types: Satwic food, Rajasic food and Taamasic food.
Any food - whether of herbs, plants, milk, or of animals are satwic if consumed within 3 hrs. (is to be considered as food that has life);
[Even animals don't eat their prey if it doesn't display signs of life - and that is natural dharma validated by mother nature herself]
If consumed with flavours and spices, it is Rajasic;
If consumed after 3 hrs (is to be considered as dead / delayed inorganic food), it is taamasic.
Taamasic food induces inertia and diseases.
Rajasic releases lot of energy
Saatwic endows intelligence and healthier life.
That is why, in the puranas, one could find even sages and rishis also having bull-meat, goat-meat, horse-meat etc. - especially after go-medha-yajna, or aswamedha-yajna etc.
Therefore, killing for eating is not to be considered as adharmic.
Killing for satisfying of one's pleasure / hatred is adharma - and that is to be termed as Himsa.
Therefore, killing a human being (if not for eating) is himsa - and that was exactly the learned Arjuna's dilemma 😀
But Sri Rama or Sita or Lakshmana didn’t have that dilemma.
After all, why did Sita ask Rama to hunt the golden deer ?
😂😂😂😂😂😂Such an illiterate understandings on Hindu religion. Verse 59 and verse 60 of Baghavad Gita clearly states that eating animal by killing them is the most sinful act in the world. There are no reverations for those who eat meat according to Lord Krishna. Being a pure vegetarian will enhance one's spirituality, health, intelligence and character. Any Hare Rama Hare Krishna devotees who follow the teachings of Baghavad Gita know that Hindu religion never promoted meat eating and this fake caste system which is in practice now across all religions in India. Original scriptures in the Atharva Vedha and Rig Vedha written in Sanskrit clearly mentions that sanatanis should be the followers of ahimsa. Ahimsa means loving animals and not eating their meat. Ahimsa never meant that sanatanis should not hurt adharmic human beings. Lord Krishna clearly states that all sanatanis must be a ksyatria and destroy the adharma from prevailing in this world. And ksyatrias are not meat eaters but rather hunters. They hunt animals for sharpening their war skills. Later on, they will have to do prayers and penace to reduce the sins of the killings. That is why mostly Ksyatrians are not allowed to attend pujas and other ceremonies. But at the same time, Vaishas, Brahmins and Shudras are allowed. Mahabharata is the epic which shows why the ksyatrian, Karna was cursed for posing as a Hindu priests by a Hindu sage. About Ramayana by Valmiki, u must at least read the entire text written in Sanskrit. Valmiki clearly mentioned that Lord Ram, Mother Sita and Lakshman ate only roots, tubers of plants, and roasted fruit. The dialogue in between Lord Ram and Kaushalya who wanted him to come back to the palace exhibits these evidence that Lord Ram is indeed a vegetarian.Mahimsa is a roasted mango flesh which is offerred as prasad in a Hindu temple in Sriranggam, TN to date. About the golden deer, Mother Sita used to rear animals in her shelter. Jethayu is one of her favourite companion. In the Ramayana book, Valmiki clearly mentioned that Lord Ram has this special arrow which will make animals to turn unconscious for few minutes. But this mantra will never work demons and evil spirits. That golden deer was dead because that deer was not a living animal. It is the demon who covered itself with the skin of a dead deer as a decoy to Raavan's sick plan of abducting Mother Sita. Valmiki clearly mentions that Raavan is a demon whose inhumanely sink his teeth into the fleshes of animal meat and these thirst for blood has changed him into a monster. That shows that none of the protaginists in his Ramayana epics are meat eaters. And the roasted flesh which was given by Lord Rama to Mother Sita is not the meat of a deer. It is the flesh of a roasted mango which Sita claimed after having a bite of it that even a simple food as this is worth a feast when it was cooked by Lord Ram. Having a roasted deer is more of a feast and Lord Ram certainly need not to eat the plants, branches, twigs, roots and fruits if he is a meat eater. Kaushalya need not to worry about her son's meal while he was in the jungle if he is a meat eater. And yes, it is sinful to say Lord Ram is a meat eater. All devoted Hindus who know about Hinduism consider meat eating as a sin. By data, India has the highest number of vegetarians in the world because of these ahimsa Hindu teachings. Hindus must never kill innocent or indirectly cause the killing of animals for food. Meat eating is prohibited and considered a sin in the Vedha scriptures. Yes, it is angering the Hindu community because half-baked people like u are painting the sinful act of meat eating on a person whom the Hindus rever as our God. Stop this insults on Hindus' sentiments at once.
